  1. Car needed some dismantling after last comp Among other things, these mounts were beginning to tear off the chassis: Having a swirl pot installed while they're at it, going to be powered by a Bosch Motorsport pump which I'm said will drive me mad. If things are as bad as they say, might need some car audio sound proofing around it.
  2. Got one yesterday out of interest, so far managed to get it up to 10500, just wondering whether the limiting factor is strength or coordination.
  3. I agree, would never use WD40 on a freewheel again after doing it a few times in the past.
  4. You could always record the freewheel sound, convert it to an mp3 and upload it onto her ipod? Then she can have it as loud as she wants.
  5. Not sure what instagram is so excuse the possible fail, but here are two car pics:
  6. I drove along a new bit of the ring road today wondering why there wasn't any traffic. This is why: It just erm... ends. The other part of the ring road also ends in a similar fashion, they can't afford to connect it up. I love this country, it's so silly. And the fact that it looks like a huge penis just makes it better:
  7. Some might not be inclined to post in here because the thread is overrun by matters concerning you and your Audi I think people post in here because they enjoy arguing with you?
  8. Not a twin cam, those things are rare as f**k. It's a normal OHV, MK2 chassis. I think it's a '62 model. The engine is re-bored and had quite a lot of work put into it so the little thing pushes out well over 100whp per tonne. Actually the whole car has been modified in various ways, my dad bought it over 45 years ago and he's been using it on a daily basis since.
  9. Silly question but does it actually make your arms/forearms grow?
  10. Does anyone have a good website where I can read how an automatic gearbox works? I've watched a lot of videos, read wikipedia and a few other articles and I still don't get it. I understand the idea behind planetary gears and ratios, what a brake band does but that's about it. I sort of think I understand how a gearbox like that works until I see this: 5 clutches, 3 planetary gear sets (or at least that's how many I can see) and that results in 8 speeds + 1 or 2 reverse gears? Shouldn't an 8 speed have 8 planetary gear sets? The clutches presumably lock the outer planetary gear/ring?
  11. Yeah but surely if you have projectors then HID's are ok? People who use them on normal headlamps should be shot though.
  12. You wouldn't look like a grown man who stole a kids bike if you'd ride in lycra. Then people would say "no way he dressed like that to steal a kid's bike, it must be his".
  13. Seems there was a group of people at the last event who filmed everybody from various spots, you then send them your starting number and car model and for a fiver get some pretty decent clips edited into a short video. Here's mine:

    Dinosaurs

Or: + In all seriousness though I'm kidding. Tractor companies would never allow for this to happen else they'd go bust. Edit: also, this is an interesting watch and rather funny too:
  15. That would be a valid point if everyone else cheated. But from what I read on the subject, it's not the case. In the top 10 there are still those who are supposedly clean.
  16. Personally I find it disgraceful that so many people in road cycling are using doping. I know this all boils down to money coming in from sponsors etc. but personally I could not look myself in the mirror if I won something by cheating. And yet these people do.

    Dinosaurs

The idea behind Jurassic Park was fine, where they went wrong was the selection of species to bring back. Don't see any point in bringing back dangerous dinosaurs or ones which can fly and cannot be contained on an island for instance. As for playing god, f**k it. If people really believe in a supernatural being then they probably don't believe in dinosaurs right?
  18. It's funny you should say that, you're not the only one to have made the comment about understeer after seeing that vid. I didn't find it so at all, the rack is quick although probably nowhere near as quick as the one in your Caterham (or is it something else?). This run was done with no anti roll bars so it probably made things a bit worse, personally I find the steering feel and handling pretty much perfect. Yeah the stage ends right after that little jump it is a bit of a car killer but you have a choice of how to get through that bit, jumping being the quickest. I'm thinking about getting rid of the D2 coilovers after this event, they're absolute shit. Thinking Bilstein B12 or maybe AST/Ohlins if I can find some spare cash lying around. I'm sure the latter are a lot better but not sure they're worth 3-4 times the price of B12's which are brilliant and as bombproof as shocks can be.
  19. Well, another DNF but at least this time I enjoyed myself. The stage finished on a side road where the only way to get back to the start line was to get off the track altogether and drive back on a dual caridge way. On the first two runs where everyone just takes notes and drives bumper to bumper, it was rather amusing to be getting onto a public road with heaps of Evos, STI's, M3's, GTR's, all around you and even the odd Clio Cups (or whatever they're called, the ones that come with a roll cage and sequential transmission as standard and are not road legal). I wish I had footage of a drag race we staged there with a few cars, unfortunately the GoPro ran out of memory a few minutes too early. edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-buEXf2ywc 4:12 will cost me quite a lot, did severe damage the the front suspension. Also all runs after the DNF were made with no anti roll bars so it was a bit wobbly inside...
  20. Car all ready for a rallysprint comp tomorrow. 280 teams = going to be boring as f**k, mostly waiting in line for your run. But with over 40 cars in my class, and some really good drivers, it will give me a good idea of where I and this car stand. Deffo not going to have a podium finish unless I have a lot of luck. Also a remedy for the half shaft bolts which keep coming loose: And it's very colourful outside so my dad took my car and took some pics alongside his.
  21. I wish I could get as far as you have in those vids. About the brake noise, I'm guessing it only happens when you're braking while going backwards (which essentially you are doing a g-turn)?
  22. Haven't had such issues with my LGMs. What do you use to clean the dirt from the pad surface?
  23. To add to the "numbers went up" argument - even if they did go up due to some changes in chit chat, surely this is not a part of the forum where you should worry about activity? This is a bike trials forum after all and the trials related forums are what matters most. Not a bunch of guys who used to be riders exchanging views on subjects completely unrelated to the sport. I'd understand the logic behind this argument if trials chat was full of the freewheel threads, the brake pad threads etc. That'd be pretty detrimental to the forums. I really think more freedom is due here, after all if you look through the members who frequently post in chit chat, you'll find that many have contributed a LOT to the forums before they ended up in the retired zone. edit: Yay!
