its not a dent.....its cracking

if you cant see anything look at the side walls :P

will it last a while though.....idealy id like it to last through to after the ride on sunday

Ohhh yeah deffinatly, ive ridden with rims like that for months.

I'd snap it off save! Imagine if you landed the first of a sequence of gaps harshly right on the point where it's cracked, and caused it to bend outwards a little, then, taking off for the next gap it came round and stopped your rim dead as it smashes into the pad. that wouldnt be cool.....

but then wouldent i be left with a gap just as dangerous ?

If he snaps it off, looking at the length of it, his tyre will keep popping off him rim.

Many years ago, when access to trials parts was very poor and people were running 19" or 25" rims, most of them ended like that. My mate had a shelf full of rims with sidewalls which just exploded under tyre pressure. I had it happen too, even remember welding a rim because I couldn't get a 19" anywhere. Needless to say it exploded as soon as I got reasonable pressure into the tyre.

To put it short, it's not going to last, but when it bursts, it's going to be funny. So keep riding it.
