Can't imagine ever running 18:15 on a 24 :S

I had that on my Pitbull + 660, even then with bigger wheels it felt too light for me.

Running 20:15 on the 609 atm, was 20:14 when i got it which actually felt pretty nice. I suppose i'm more used to something heavy after pissing about on a bmx for a few months, though...

18:14 seems perfect for me, ran 18:13 before and it seemed way too low. and I'd imagine that 15:18 would feel really light.

You can try 18:13, but I think you'd regret it.

For a streety, spinny trials bike 18:13 is perfect, but I find 18:14 on a trialsy 24" (175mm cranks) really light compared to a 26" running 18:15 (175mm cranks) or a mod running 18:12 (165mm cranks).

  • 5 weeks later...

20 / 16 * 12 = 15, so it may be best to go 16:13 if you want it a little lighter.

I had a go on Ben Savage's 24" trials bike at Porthcawl a while back and I think he was running 18:15 with 165mm cranks. Whatever it was, it felt reasonably good. 18:14 should be about right with 'normal' length cranks though.
