Yup, do that. I am shit at looking people in the eyes when I talk to them. I don't think I'm shy, I just don't like people to think I'm staring. But apparently, you're supposed to look them in the eye. So do that. And don't be a dick.

just be friendly and smiley, a LBS survives because of its customer service so if you show that you ar polite and friendly and well kept (important take a shower) they are going to think well of you.

show you know your stuff but dont appear too cocky, say your are willing to learn and are a fast learner, and if they mention discount say you had never thought of it but u wanted the job because u really enjoy working with bikes and see it as a constructive use of your time to help fund your interest.

its always helpful to know how the air shocks work, you always get one annoying customer who wants to know exactly bout the positive and negative chambers, still wouldnt worry too much bout that
