I thought about this while I was sat at work, is your insurance fully comp or 3rd party? If it is 3rd party you are getting rapped, if its fully comp its not that bad.

Another piece of useless information for you, Tesco insurance is actually run by Greenflag.

Yeah I'm fully comp!! :D

OPPSIE..... forgot i was on andys PC, It's Charlotte P by the way. argh i always forget to log in as me. xxx

i know this may sound wierd! but keep an eye old for some volvos!

i have a 1.7 340 for a first car and insurance is around a grand!

the 340, 360 or most volvo moddels are cheap to insure and great to learn in :D

You absolute daddy. I used to have a 1.4 340. I got up to pretty much everything in it, including crashing into stuff at speed and rallying it and grounding it. I absolutely loved it. It put up with 3 years of this treatment before giving up the ghost (15 years after we bought it for my mum) and I wish we still had it.

I honestly don't think it's worth insuring yourself in the first year because you will not realistically recoup the extra monetary outlay to insure yourself in your own name by achieving full no claims a year earlier. Also, you are most likely to crash in your first year so it is useful to be fully comp under your parents insurance.

Like someone else said, have a look in Parkers for cars with low insurance groups. I got quoted £900 as a 17yr old first time driver on a 1.1 Fiesta, but £600 on a 1.8 TD Escort Estate! And that estate would have been a bit quicker too... :S

Buy a Mondeo- they're tanks :)

Well i think i'm buying a 01 corsa sxi if i can get the money together, gonna cost about 3000 and so far i have 2000.

Your going to spend 3000 on your first car?

Spend 1000 on the car and then spend the other 2000 on tax, mot and insurance.

3000 on your first, which you will crash, your mad. :)

hmm vans are dirt cheap on insurance could get oneof thos if you dont mind only having 2 seats... either that or go for a bigger ''family car'' if you want cheap insurance, anything the insurance compnays see as being a ''boy racers car'' insurance will rape you as i have found out haha. ermm or go for an old skool classic and insure it under classic car insurance.or go deisel lol. cant think of much else...also for no claims the admiral group area all good or NU if you have Pass plus but at the end of the day the car is like your bike you buy what you like and fin nice to drive.... eg my mates with big feet find it hard to drive my car because the pedals are so close together etc and things like if you want a drivers caror a comfot car loads of things that are all personal chice

one thing i willsay please do not take up charrlotte on her advice and by a Ka i broaght one of these dirt cheap to rag while my car was being worked on and oh my god...what a peice of cack, i got annoyed one day and punched the wing and preety much folded the thing inhalf, i could relese the bonnet without the relese catch under the bonnet by yanking it, i ripped out the dash in one go when it started ratteling so i wanted to put some padding...they r shit and are buil like shit and have the nadeling of a tank

No i wont crash lol. i'm going on the insurance under my dads name gonna be around 600 a yr with direct line.

'The reason i'm spending so much is becouse rather than wastle a grand on a car that will most likely fall to bits i'd rather buy somthing half decent that will last a couple yr.
