    • Last year, I got me a 29" trials MTB rigid thing, and it is a failure. Frame was made by mi-tech.de, and they couldn't get the chainstays to spec in two attempts, now 450 (!), so I caved for a discount to be able to ride in summer. Parts are Shimano, Ergon, I9, Comas 115 alu handlebars, Shimano trekking XT levers, Kinesis FML30B forks. Tires are easily snaked, but they look good. I9 wheels still work, but I don't trust them, feel fragile. With the crooked geo and the 29 wheels, it is simply too large for me, so I use it mostly for manual strolls and a few lame street tricks. So next up: 26" MTB hybrid. Wheels are ready (Aliexpress hubs & Hashtagg rims), rest of the components will be reused. After the shit show with Mi-Tech, they can go to hell. So where should I get the frame this time? Campmajo?
    • Noticed that the trialtech stuff is always hard work getting hold of. Are the still even going or is it just new old stock that’s being sold? Don’t ride that often now so maybe old news but could do with a few bits here and there.
    • The f40 has been glacial! I don’t necessarily mind that but it’s drawn attention to some of the other nonsense. The guy has gone to great lengths to model the f40 and 3d scan a real f40 and to model the engine in the car and design a jig for the suspension points. All sensible stuff and actually interesting. But he then has spent like 1 episode per single chassis tube bend that he has basically done by eye. The thing that has baffled me in this episode is that all the stiffening he has put in he has just put in by eye with just a “that looks strong” or “that looks neat”! Also the main tubes from the dashboard down to the front of the car seem totally mental. Yes they look nice but they diagonally bisect the main top suspension points mounting positions which doesn’t seem particularly sensible especially when the angle of that tube is completely aesthetic. Also sending the tubing all the way to the very front of the car seems completely pointless? Surely it only really needs to go to the suspension points as the rest from there onwards is just for hanging a cf body panel and isn’t particularly useful structurally? I can’t imagine legs needing to go past that point. All these odd design/build method clashes have just made me hyper aware every time he says a measurement in inches or says “chassis”.  I'm still gonna watch as I’ve invested the time, and I love f40s   edit: oh and I nearly lost it when he measured one of the bottom braces of the chassis in situ like a crazy person and had to spend ages with a grinder making it fit properly
    • Curious too, i've been following it for a fair few years now. I do feel that his builds don't progress at the rate they used to, but I still find them interesting and enjoyable.
    • What don't you like about it? It's in my to watch list at some point, my friend suggested it was a bit slower than others and more "maths / geek" than usual. If it's rubbish I won't bother, but so far I have two totally opposite opinions on it.
