I used the search but it didnt seem to find anything, even though its been posted before....sooo...

what gear ratio do you stock riders all use with what length cranks? I read mine today and my rear is 19t, with 22 on the front :P fookin low! Gonna have to spend out on a £30 king cog i guess.......

so what size cog do you have front and back, and what length cranks?

TO WORK OUT HOW TWO RATIOS COMPARE, DIVIDE THE NUMBER OF TEETH ON THE FRONT SPROCKET, BY THE NUMBER OF TEETH ON THE REAR SPROCKET.

Ok now thats sorted, i would suggest a ratio of around 1.2

i use 22 : 18 which correlates to 1.2222.... so around that, but at the end of the day it is down to what works for you.

Tis a very good ratio that, I wouldn't change unless you really want more clearance at the front/wanna shed some weight!

I personally run 18:15 with 175s, but wouldn't mind 16:14 on some 170s if I end up on a frame with a lower BB...

Oh yeah, and do what Phil says :-

i used to run 20:18 which worked out to be around 1.111111, it was a fine gear for myself, i thought it did me perfect, but however, after going uci styleeeee, i have come up with the perfect saying :P

for both natural and street, get 16:14 beneath your feet.......

its the perfect gearing in my opinion. (and how fooking corny is that saying hahaha)

cheers me mateys

what gear feels esayer out of the 2?

Both feel the same to me, but the 16:14 is apparently lighter and better.

I used to use 22:19 before 18 and I loved that, and when I put the 18 on I could do everything as before but I didn't seem to have to give it as much effort as 19. So I found 18 better.

Saying that though, I think I prefer 16:14, but thats on the uci bike which suits it very well. 22:18 is perfect for the street bike though(Y)

i run 16:14 with 170mm burns.

a pretty low gear but i like it

20:19, and people still complain that it looks like i'm struggling? Tried 20:20 and it was wank.

I think i'm running 20:19 anyway. :P

20:19 is very low! i think the normal with 20t on the front is 20:17
