  1. We got the handbrake caliper motor taken off and used a T45 to unwind the piston (is that the right word?) so the pads released from the disc. So at least I can drive the car now instead of having to have it put on a low loader. Going to buy a new unit tomorrow and get that fitted on.
  2. Which base are you in dude? (Had to re-word in fear of Dominos puns)
  3. Aahh! "Practice". Sounds so much better than "training".
  4. So it's not the button. That's engaging the drivers side fine and that calipers releasing fine too. So it's a new passenger side caliper I need. Unless there's something in the switch that would be broken just for the one side? Yay, nay?
  5. So its looking like £9 for a button. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yiding-Electronic-Handbrake-Parking-Button/dp/B00P2C9ZP2/ref=sr_1_fkmr3_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1423668003&sr=1-1-fkmr3&keywords=VW+passat+push+button+hand+brake And/or £200 for one caliper. Looks like the motor and caliper is one unit? https://www.autopartsuk.com/BRKH-HY/Volkswagen/Passat/all/1.9/2007/Diesel/CA2883/Brake%20Caliper Might I as well just change both calipers at the same time, going on the rule of, once ones gone the other wont be far behind? Also, change the button even if its not broken, just because its old, and pretty cheap anyway? f**k it - Might as well to the f**king timing belt while I'm at it eh. Can you buy those on Amazon?
  6. Cool Ads, cheers, ill try this. Those three things did come to mind at the time. Yayee, I'm not a complete noob Another thing ive been told to try is disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and giving it a go again? Kinda sounds like, "is it even plugged in" kind of advice but ill try anything once - but I wont do that. Ba dum...
  7. Loving this. Like the idea with the screen and the fakie nose manual had me giddy. http://youtu.be/a5oq2ADszL0
  8. Haha. No. I waited till it was clear and dragged the back wheels up off the road to a quiet street and parked up. Yup. Reverse parked with the hand brake on. Thug life.
  9. Car noob back in here for help/advice please boys. I was sat at a set of lights this morning and the parking brake fault light came on. I tried to pull away but the parking brake wouldn’t release. It’s one of the push button types. I hadn’t pressed the button on, it just locked up (felt like just on the one side) So I then pressed the button and tried to pull away like normal hoping that would clear things. It Didn’t. Restarted the car etc. Still wouldn’t release. Car is a VW Passat.
