  1. At the risk of sounding patronising.... I care not to try and find out why - so I'll say it's for "some reason" - our brain prefers rectangles of a particular proportion. This is 1.618... (phi) It's just a ratio... 1.618:1. Widescreen monitors look nicer 'cause they're closer to this "golden ratio". Square monitors have a ratio of 4:3 (1280x1024 etc...). 4 / 3 gives 1.333 - or 1.333:1. Widescreens have a 16:9 ratio (1680x1050 etc...). 16 / 9 gives 1.777 - or 1.777:1. This is obviously closer to the magical 1.618:1, so our heads prefer it's proportions ("for some reason" ) A golden ratio'd screen would be more like 16:10, being that 16.18 inches is getting a bit anal To link this in with the beauty aspect (taken out of proportion for the sake of ease): If your head is an foot wide, if it wasn't close to 1.618 feet tall, you'd start looking a bit weird. (Bottom picture) The other ones are just showing some other relations to phi found on the human face. The more of these that conform on a persons face, the more beautiful they will appear. This picture you were on about the other day is another example. And this can be taken further: The other famous useage of it is in the spiral picture you'll've seen a good few thousand times. This is where the fibonacci sequnce Partz was on about comes in. This occurs everywhere. Nature knows all about it. Most common example is sunflower heads. The seeds grow organised into this spiral. The spiral works in both directions. I sure hope I didn't get it wrong... It's been a while. Interesting stuff though. Search for "Phi". It's the name given to this irational number 1.618.... Symbolised by this greek symbol, if you wonder what it all means:

About 18 months ago, I started to move away from metal, and more into the realms of electronic music. The music in this video left me wondering why... ...I was ever in to metal That was f**king terrible. Huge riding though.
  3. Fun to test, maybe... But it all depends on results. How is it?
  4. But you must admit... It makes a f**king hilarious read
  5. 'Cause if he's anywhere and everywhere, he's gonna need a f**king big bike to be comfortable.
  6. I haven't seen ANY threads on this before. I searched, and nothing came up on the first 3-5 pages, so assumed it wasn't there.
  7. Was this organised? If not - I spy a new team of should-be-mods
  8. I didn't consciously click on anything, but I'm getting it showing up like this. I've trawled through the options and can't find anything that mentions the way the forum is viewed. Did I miss it, or... I dunno. Just - any ideas? It's bloody horrible.
  9. You want a King because of the NOISE?
  10. My friend's got a park-tool one, and that's never not fit
  11. You guys sure must enjoy this arguement
  12. Another for WMM. Can get some good results if you give it some patience and thought (Might need to make some workarounds, as WMM's features aren't upto scratch of others ) It's possible if you think on it though.
  13. That's the thing. It's INCREDIBLY simple. That's why I'm on the verge of giving up. It's SO simple it gets boring. 5 years is about enough, I'm thinking. I don't WANT to quit - but I guess it's the same as when people get made a Senior Member on here Once you've done cats, you've done cats. The only variations is to go bigger, level, running or even dropping. Even then, they get boring. It's the same thing over and over, and 'cause the movements in themselves are so easy by this time, it's just not rewarding. I could rant for a lot of pages about this, 'cause it's kinda hitting home at the minute. Really saddens me to give it up, but it's just boring the hell out of me now. As an act of desperation, I tried getting back into a bit of tricking, and combining the two - but again... Once you've done a gainer, you've done a gainer. That's it. @ Conditioning - As far as I'm concerned, that's the biggest load of shit I've ever heard. Train properly, and your conditioning is already done. As far as I know, Belle (the don as far as "defining" parkour, being that he's the son of the guy who "created" it) has never said it's a good idea to go out and do lots of pushups. The closest he's gotten is saying that you should prepare your body for such impacts by building up to it - hence him being at the level he's at after 20 years, and other people are getting close after 5 or 10. Ever read Blane's article on dilution?
  14. YES! I knew I'd heard it before!
  15. I actually found that f**king hillarious. Leave off
  16. Oh shit. I can't even begin to explain how wrong you are - however much I want to. You ONLY got that 'cause you have an extra 2' on me when you put your arm up Don't go making out you're some sort of... I dunno - just don't be so cocky Also - "a few weeks" won't get the basics sorted. There's more to it, in a hard-to-explain-why way - though yeah - it IS much simpler than trials (which is why it gets boring much quicker ).
  17. Well! Some of those things were larger than certain parts of my anatomy would allow for. Congratulations.
  18. To my knowledge (which is likely somewhat shakey) it's when someone uses vibrating equipment a LOT, (ie, pneumatic drills on the roadside etc...). The excessive vibrations can damage the circulation to that part of the body, meaning less blood gets to it. Less blood means less colour - and fingers tend to start turning white.
  19. f**king cool video. REALLY liked that. Gaps like a MONSTER! (edit:) for a machine set up for street.
