  1. 1 - If something of breaks what is you first thought? "How does it work?" If I know how it works, I might be able to find a way of repairing it, or bodging it back into a usable state. 2 - Would you attempt to repair it? if not then why? Yes. 3 - During repair, would you do it properly or go for a cheap bodge solution? If doing it properly was within my capacity (I have limited tools etc. so can't make my own custom bits) then I would, but if it's too involved or parts are expensive, I'd bodge it. 4 - What would you do if you if you couldn’t or didn’t want to repair it? In order of preference: Bodge it (duct tape ), work around it, deal with it (brakes don't work - ride brakeless, car heaters don't work - just deal with the cold), or buy a replacement. 5 - What do you think is limiting products from being repair easily by the owner? Closed-sourceness. In terms of software, if it's open-source and you have a problem, if you don't know how to fix it you can easily get in touch with people who might, or know other people that will. Making things so you can't fix them - moulded plugs, three-pronged screws, and generally sealed units seems a very dirty tac-tic to make more money. Especially when it prevents you from fixing easily repairable problems. 6- If you had a choice of buying something that is rated as being simple and easier to repair when broken, would you buy this over the standard? Or would it just be more hassle to do everything yourself? Yes, I much prefer that. I'd always go for Hope brakes as a full range of spares are readily available (and they're just better brakes in general ).
  2. JMCD in getting-something-right shocker! Haha. TK Maxx. I don't think I've ever spent more than £22.50 on shoes. The £7 ones outlasted all the others I've had! Shoes are gonna die quickly however expensive they are, so just get cheap ones

    frame geo

Again, incorrect. The sole question of the thread was concerning geometry and how it rides.

    frame geo

Haha. The misinformation:information ratio in this thread is fairly poor Very high, fairly short stock. It's very likely one of those stocks that will basically ride like a mod with big wheels.

    Close thread

You are such a dick, G. Whatever your issues are, get help with them or get over them. Removing content and destroying frames only makes people dislike you. If this whole thing is the scream for attention that it appears to be, just know that the attention you are receiving is not of the good variety. If it's that you don't want people to see something, don't post in the public domain. If it's that you're lonely - don't antagonize people to get attention. There are far better means of scratching that itch. If it's that you don't like this place, then close the tab and f**k off for good.
  6. No. They're different things.A split link lets you split the chain without needing to press a pin in/out. Just to instill confidence, another vote for the Z610 HX. Only ever had one snap, and the one that did went at the end of a very unpleasant two year life
  7. How about using an appropriate meme-image in your next attempt, for once?
  8. First off: That geometry is curiously similar to the Ozonys Skill I'd say they all go to fairly high BB as that's what is most likely to sell at this time. Making a batch of frames and being stuck with them would likely devastate most trials companies, so they don't experiment too much - if they only do what they know people will buy (whether it actually benefits the rider or not), then at least they're guaranteed to remain in business
  9. I've never run anything except 1.95"s, so can't comment on that
  10. Yeah - that's pretty awesome. To be fair, most people on mods just crack on with a standard (Kenda/Halfords/Wilkos) 20"x1.75"-1.95" in the 19"x2.5" they run on the rear That'll stretch the material much more than going from 2.125" to 2.3", so you probably won't even notice the difference. Edit: ...Having said that, don't expect them to be great! Hahaha.
  11. To be fair, they've been available on the Cleep bikes for quite a while now. They just need porting to more regular BB sizes, or everyone needs to move over to BB30
  12. Leftovers and crashes added to first post.
  13. Do you come on here purely to antagonize people?
  14. Stock-only, as far as I'm aware.No-one'll make one 'cause only about seven people would buy them I slick mine as you get a rounder tyre profile, which is much better for spins, steering manuals, and lowering rolling resistance. Kinda sucks for grip though. Trying something out starting later in the week which'll hopefully put an end to all that for me... Just hope it doesn't go as badly as I think it might
  15. I had a pair that did that. Just rode them and they softened up within a few hours.
  16. If it's any consolation my trials bike has a very similar sized gap.
  17. Yeah... Sorry about that - I didn't mean it to come out quite that way. I like the video as a whole - quite happy with the edit and really chuffed with some of the shots (courtesy of the long lens!). I was referring to the actual riding. Thanks for your nice comments, all.
  18. This has been tough on me. It's been a while since the last one as I decided I wanted to just ride for a while without filming, so I did that for a month or so. I've also moved house twice, new job, had to replace my car, and battle with both an ongoing injury in my foot and lacking motivation. Any clips I did get were pilfered by a certain someone else for a video he's making, which made it take even longer At the time of filming each of the clips I was happy with most of them, but now not so much. I feel I've taken quite a large step backwards in most areas of riding so I'm sorry if it disappoints you too. Leftovers and crashes:
  19. I couldn't disagree more. My deepest interests lie in music, but I can't play any instruments.
  20. Yes it was, thanks. Kind of share Ross' feelings on this, but I guess you're more referring to the times when mods and stocks were ridden differently
  21. I have to ask - why do people dislike mod videos? This isn't me getting defensive or a dig, I just see it quite a lot and honestly don't understand. It's a genuine question and I'm hoping for a real answer, not just "mods r shit n ghey".
  22. Same here. I get it from a track/piece every so often, but they vary fairly wildly in genre and the sorts you're all talking about are absolutely not one of them. There's just something about 90s dance that makes me want to die It's definitely to do with triggering memories. It's referred to as "anchoring" in neuro-linguistic programming. Every time I listen to Fragments of a Cerebral Dimension I'm immediately transported back in to the world of my favourite book since I had that album on repeat whilst reading it. I regularly listened to and liked the album before I read the book, but now they're anchored to each other listening to it is tantamount to a religious experience. Anchoring's pretty damned interesting and well worth reading up on.
