It's probably worth noting that "now" was 6-7 months ago. I have a bike with brakes, but it's for tech rocks etc. Haven't had brakes on a streety bike for a long time now Really enjoyed that - I'd forgotten almost all of those happened. Haha.

Half-links get a lot of bad rep, but I've personally never had an issue with them. They stretch like mad to start with, but the regular links in the chain snapped first. 18:16 on a 26" isn't too bad - might feel pretty weird to get used to if you've been on 18:15 for a long time though. Never had a stock myself, but been on various peoples' and the 18:16 didn't seem outrageous.

Short with a high BB and strong... You want this. It's not the highest, but it's pretty damn high. The rest of the geometry is good, very strong, not unreasonably heavy, Spanish BB (for the win!) and - if you're the type inclined to keep it on - a bashplate that's less inclined to destroy your frame. Sounds about perfect for you. Nearly had one myself at one point, but +85 is just too high for my taste.

I think so. It could be stainless I guess - I don't know how to tell Off to Google that now...

Yeah - probably an extra 30% on top of that. That one in 002 was the one I did on the fourth attempt today Didn't clip it this time either! Super in-love with the headtube-crown matching too. Favourite bit, if I'm honest. Haha.

I got backed into a corner by certain circumstances, and decided to try my luck. Lots of trigonometry later, I have a lovely new frame to ride Geometry (which I am staggered to say I have gotten within 1mm of what I was aiming for!) is: Reach - 585mm HA - 73° WB - 950 BB - +65 CS - 350 FAO welders: feel 100% free to think it, but you really needn't bother telling me how horrible the welds are - I already know! This has been my first welding project, so was learning how to do it (how effectively remains to be seen) on the job. It turns out that what I thought was clean steel wasn't nearly clean enough, which is why the earlier joints have a lot of spatter, and the ones I did last are comparatively neat. I didn't take close-ups, just to avoid you lot calling me out on it If you're looking at doing something like this and want to know prices for materials: about £60. Of course I couldn't buy exactly the bits I needed - had to buy 3m or 6m lengths so I have a lot left over, but the proportion I've used compared to what I paid overall works out at about £60. All tubing is plain-gauge, 1.22mm wall welded mild steel, and dropouts are just some 6mm steel plate Adam had lying around. Fully integrated headtube and Spanish BB came from Solid Bikes. Couldn't find anywhere UK based that would supply them so had to get them from America. Again - to get my money's worth, I ordered 3 headtube and 3 BB shells which they can fit into a flat rate parcel, which is $25 to ship. They worked out at being around £10 per tube. Frame weight is just a touch shy of 2.4kg, which I don't think is bad at all for saying how un-weight conscious the tubing is. I've also dropped something in the region of 160g by having an integrated headset rather than a Pig, so in terms of overall weight change, it's only about 200g heavier than what I had before. Was so excited to get riding that I didn't think to get a full-bike weight. Somewhere between 9kg and 9.2kg though, at a guess. Apologies for the spiel - pretty damn stoked that it actually worked out! Muchas gracias to Ben Slinger for bending the chainstays/seatstays for me, and an even bigger thanks to Adam Read for advice, tips, help and moral support ( ) through the process! (Snail cams on the outside due to a cock-up that I still don't understand. Had a 116mm spacer between dropouts whilst welding, took spacer out afterwards and it snapped shut to 110mm. Anyone got an explanation for this, and how to avoid it next time?) Had my first ride on her today and I'm in love already. Seemingly just as good for the more power-based stuff as my previous geometry and nicer for streety stuff. Certainly nose manuals - did the longest I'd ever done before on my 4th attempt after about 10 minutes on the new geo, then set a new personal best (by no small margin!) after another hour or so.

Only thing that could've made that more enjoyable would be moar Ben, though I've an inkling as to why there wasn't. Fair play for re-doing that rail again and again!

<3 Wavy grass looks fun!

I promise you, it probably is I've not been to where you live, but Hinckley is absolutely barren. Haha.

I'd love to have a go with one of these. Always really liked the feel and ease of BB7s but was seduced by hydraulics, so would be hugely intrigued by one of these. Cool idea

So. Bloody. Awesome!

Cool Where abouts is that first spot? Ridden Brum a lot and never seen that place!

"wip" as in a "WIP Bikes" WIP? If it is, it's made of steel so just weld it. It will be far better in the long run.

I suddenly thought about that and got a sneaky little edit in there just before you posted

You guys don't seem to realize how small a sport trials is. The fact they ever made anything trials-specific is impressive enough - they have every right not to. They probably sell more 135mm hubs in a day than they would 116mm hubs with a 12 tooth driver in their entire lifespan. It would not be "a good chunk of business" - it would be about ten hubs a year I imagine they consider breaking into the BMX market something of a gamble at any rate, and are likely relying on dirt jumpers etc. to make up the sales, and BMX is enormous compared to trials. If you really want one, get the 9 tooth model and run a 13 or 14 tooth sprocket on your cranks. (The equivalent to 18:12 is 13.5:9, so you'd have to go one way or the other.) [Edit: Or the 15t model and a 22t or 23t sprocket.] If you don't want to risk that, just wait a while. I'm pretty sure I'll end up doing exactly that when they come out so you can use me as a guinea pig

Thanks guys Been on 20" rear for a few months now Sam - really love it. Several benefits and no drawbacks! If you don't like the music, you can turn the volume all the way down until you can't hear it. That's exactly what that row of little vertical bars next to the "HD" toggle is designed to do, just in case you weren't aware.

Haha. Don't worry about it. I was kidding. First line was ace. How you got all that without falling over with dizziness is quite something.

Could've done with a few 180's in there to spice things up a bit to be honest.

Beasty Love his riding.

I've been trying to film for a long while now, but only managed to collect six clips in around three months. Matt mentioned riding, and said he'd like to film some lines, so I jumped at the chance. This video is what we filmed yesterday, plus those six extra lines of mine and two more of his. I like it P.S. About 'that' transition: I don't understand. I've gone through it frame-by-frame in the project file and it lines up perfectly, but refuses to export as it is on the timeline. Tried exporting four time and it's always the same. Sucks, but whatever.

I run a USB HDD from a Raspberry Pi. It's not fast, and it's not flashy, but it's super cheap and uses next to no power It's probably not what you're after, but for simple file storage/access it does me just fine.

Some seriously large riding in there! Beastin'

Good to see you still reppin'! Been far too long since you were last out
