  1. Hello all, i just bought back my old Julie from a mate for a fiver, and the lever pulls all the way back to the bar (or near enough anyway). The brake has had trouble with leakage ever since Jake decided to take it apart, then it's just deteriorated from there really. So....Any chance of a warrenty d'you recon? It was bought at the 2004 Bikeshow (under a year old) and HS33's have a 5 year leak proof warrenty from what i remember, any chance of these having a warrenty? If not is there anything i can do to stop the problem other than just topping it up every so often? P.S: I would get a new brake if i could afford it, please don't suggest an Avid or something :P Woody
  2. Usually ride with myself, Ben comes out at weekends if his knee's not giving him trouble. Sexy Jake used to ride...But no more :P Gonna have to get him back into it when it becomes the summer again. If i'm up in London than the usual London peeps - Stephen Morris, Matt Staples, Tim Rodriguez etc.
  3. I've used a few types, and have found that it depends on the shoe you are using. My V8's and SNAFU's gripped pretty well on my Vans, but were shite on my Globes, but then changing to VP's they gripped really well with the Globe tread pattern. Then i found some 1D's in a shady little road bike shop (the box looked like it was about 10 years old!) and they work really well with either Vans or Globes. Durability wise, the V8's were ok, the pins seemed to fall out alot though. The SNAFU's had the same problem (and i snapped an axle after a particularly heavy landing on the DH bike :"> ), the 2 pairs of VP's i had were ok but i snapped a cage, then snapped the body of one pair, and the second pair i snapped the body so the bolt would not tighten. The best pedals i have had so far have been the Club Roost 1D's (my current pedals). I've been running them for around a year now, and show no signs of giving up. The cages have become slightly worn and the bearings on one pedal have become a bit loose (sidehops to pedal :P" ). Other than that they have been faultless. I seem to remember the Wooley hat shop selling the 1D/2D's a little while ago, it might be worth checking out their website :P
  4. Back to the original topic, lower the front more, pull your leading pedal back a little more (so you have more 'travel' with it if you get me), and concentrate on sticking the back wheel outwards onto the object rather than just letting it hit the object. Also, just practice! You soon get better naturally, without knowingly altering your technique. :-
  5. A mere 16, 17 at the end of August :S
  6. I've bought one pair of new pads over 2 years of having a front and rear Mini, and i only bought that 'cos i was going downhilling in Morzine. The front one is now on my Trials bike, the rear is on the DH bike. They're both failrly low at the moment (about 1.5mm each) but thats not bad for 2 years use including 2 weeks of hardcore downhill-age.
  7. Do what all they said up there, and something that might help with the lunge is getting your head over the front axel, then you can kinda 'flick' up more. Also, try to get as close to the wall as possible, but with enough space so your foot doesn't hit it on your way up :P
  8. Lol is that what Daddy said? :P
  9. Looks really good! I wish i had a BMX
  10. Thought of another...2 You run an 8" disc on your fully rigid aluminium forks You have components from both DH and XC companies on your bike.
  11. I ride a stock...not sure if that makes any difference, but i have had the same experiences as Mark. It feels alot more comfortable on the backwheel and i don't hit my legs on the bars as much (if at all). I run the standard Pazzaz stem which has alot of rise, but i find it fine. Have you got anything to lose Chai?
  12. In my garden i have... 2x Massive IKEA pallets (came free with a kitchen, worth £25 each apparently :( ) 2x Standard blue pallets (nicked from the back of Sainsbury's) 1x Old shitty pallet with chip board ontop (came with a load of paving slabs) 1x ACRO (sp?) pole/prop (pole used in building to prop roofs up, builder left it) 2x Concrete blocks (home made - approx 1.5' by 1'. Just build a mould out of off-cut wood and fill with concrete) 10000000x random bits of wood that are lying around, for ramps/beams etc... I would get pics, But it's dark. Find whatever you can really, if you have the space and a bit of imagination then anything can be fun. Ask around the local builders and see if they have anything you could use, they're usually pretty friendly (and partial to a sandwich or two (Y) ). If you can find someone with a car/van hen ask them to spare an hour of their time so you can go around asking for bits and bobs. My local pallet places are Sainsbury's and Tops Tiles - i'm fairly sure it'll be the same situation anywhere in Britain you go, in that they'll have pallets out back. Go to your local wood merchants and ask for bits of wood that they can't sell (may have some scratches or whatever, meaning it's structurally sound, just not pretty) and see if you can wangle a deal. Borrow a hammer, buy/borrow some nails (dirt cheap) and get making! I find having summat in your garden to ride a sure-fire way to improvement. You never get moved on, theres no one to complain at you, no one to get in your way, and also no one to distract you. You can fall off all you like, and not be embarrased 'cos you're the only one there! You can also adjust stuff for your preferences, so you can have everything set for practising taps one week, gaps another, wheelswaps the next, technical the next etc... Have fun making! Woody.
  13. Yeh they do those, just 2 nice sparkly bolts with a steel bar with threads at the end. You could make one pretty easily actually. Have a look around for some, they definatly do them. Good point Mr Noz (Y)
  14. Thats f**king hardcore. Bit shady if you over balance (Y)
  15. I'd ditch the Hope and get a Shimano QR - they seem to work alot better. My Hope hub in my Azonic jump bike hasn't slipped with a Shimano.

  18. I'm more orientated to the rock-ier side of things, but there are a few hip hop artists that i like - Mark B and Blade being the main one. Jurassic 5, A Tribe Called Quest, and theres a really good mix with James Brown and some other people in it (sorry i can't be more specific...it's by DJ Doom called 'I'm the Doc.' or summat.) It's good. Not into the newer hip hop, but meh.
  19. Steve next time you're in Bromley we can have a game of Basketball with Mr Lanky, it'd be awesome (Y) I think i have a 'B. Ball' somewhere....

  21. I'm glad Tom banned signature pics on here... Those are super annoying, you don't know if it's an attached image or a pic of some 'cool' kids Parkouring 'cos they saw it on TV and wanted to try it.
  22. Looks really good, i like dual disc bikes, it enhances the clean lines (Y) Liking the colour too, all the bits go well with the frame (Y)
