  1. My coust pads were sickening loud on my smooth rim. I don't use a booster cos there's already one welded to the frame but it still has a bit of negligible flex, and so the loud sounds.
  2. The thought of getting the piercings ripped out (like from your lips, eyebrow, nose) during a bail/crash while riding is horrifying.
  3. Malaysia has lotsa rubber trees... As in rubber plantations.
  4. I like the glossy black fork.
  5. Couldn't agree more Tubes are made from rubber, which is from rubber sap from the rubber trees? I thought oil is for plastics? Anyway, if the tubes are really made from oil, think about tyres and grips too.
  6. Perhaps it takes a certain level of maturity to appreciate such bikes. There's this super old school trials rider (age 30+ and married with kids) at my side, still rides his old alu Ellsworth Specialist frame since 2001. Only 2 months ago he switched to a dobermann steel frame. I really respect him alot cos he was the one who showed us that bmx tricks could be done on mountain bikes, and he was one of the trials pioneers. Without him, I doubt I would be hooked into trials.
  7. So the new 24UK's seat tube to top tube wouldn't be in a straight line? Doesn't look quite nice to me when I imagine how it would look like. But the current cable guides seem to be a snug fit though. Haha, thankfully no.
  8. Whoa El Camino is quite cheap here? (Got my HFX-9 at 350 a pair in 05, lol) I have to agree, stay away from Hayes. I hated the feel of my HFX-9, and I celebrated when I sold it away. And the Stroker looks good too, not too sure on performance wise. And the Stroker copied the maggy TPA wheel design! But instead of pad adjustment, it's lever adjustment. -.-' Wiremesh, I would get a Hope if I were you. Or Magura.
  9. Hmm, the tensioner looks "long" though, but I'm sure it would be great when it's revealed.
  10. I think this is the 06 model? Not too sure, got it in Apr 07 while I was having my polytechnic attachment in China. I rarely rode it, total about 4 months, so I sold it to my best friend in Feb 08 as he was very interested in trials. Today he surprised me by showing me these pics: At my side, it's very humid, so the frame has some surface corrosion which makes it looks like disgusting cos it's all rough and ugly. But now it's all matt black! Super stealthy I would say. (spray paint and air-brushed) What do you guys think of it?
  11. Blast from the past! Nice! One of my dream mod frames a few years back.
  12. It's an alu frame. From what I studied, welding makes the area around welds weak? The heat from the welding changes the properties of the metal. Besides, if it were to crack, you would know that it has reached its fatigue life. Welding it back is fine, but some other parts might crack instead. Not being a bad-mouth here, but I did consider welding my favourite alu street-trials frame when it snapped. Now it's hanging in my store-room.
  13. There's this ad at my side which is a song about BMI. It ends with: "25 is too high!" LOL Anyway, mines 20.76
  14. Oh goody, thank you all very much!
  15. Would a Tioga DH rim work with the hs33? I'm aware that it's designed for disc only. I heard that it would work if you grind it. But my question is, would it work if I don't grind the rim? Anyone using it with a hs33?
  16. Yeah, I got the same when I emailed Steve. Definitely some auto-reply, and a typo. He meant May, cos 4th of May is a Sunday. I showed it to my friend and he joked that there was nothing wrong with the auto-repy: The next 4th of august which falls on a Sunday is in 2013. LOL!
  17. Heheh, nice. Drill your brake clamps. Drill your handlebar (just the grip area), not only saves weight, but I heard it could make the grip more secure) Anyone dare to drill the steerer tube? (just the top part where the stem is being clamped on)
  18. This thread made me think of those old school 26 inch bikes, but with a 24'' wheel fitted for the rear. My friend is running that set up till now, because he was sponsored a few years back (till the shop closed down in 2002) and he keeps taco-ing the rear wheel, so his sponsor gave him a 24'' wheel to solve all the taco-ing problems. 26-24 set up makes it easier to jump up. Here's some of his videos: Youtube Video -> ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">
  19. Hmm, why you don't want the screw-on types? Any particular reason?
  20. That size (boobs) is considered "big" at my side, for someone around 18 years old. Haha.
  21. Since most of the ETs are like broken, I wonder if you send your frame for heat treatment, would the integrity/strength of the frame be as good as new? I think it's possible, provided you know what grade of alu the frame tubings are, the temperature of the furnace, the time left in the furnace, and what type of cooling method and how long the cooling time.
  22. Nice! What gear ratio are you running?
  23. Hmm, how do you measure it exactly? I measured from centre of the hole to the other centre of the hole, using a vernier caliper it says 102mm. Oh, just double checked with the email which Steve sent me, his measurement was 103/104mm. Sigh, if it couldn't fit then at most get those offset clamps by Tensile.
  24. Erm, they really work? Don't mind trying though. Maybe make like blue-ish silver-ish faded.
  25. Well, it was only after I gotten the blue bits, then my friend told me: 'your bike would look quite monotonous' Then I realised I should had gotten black instead. If so, the hubs would be the only parts with colour (gunsmoke). White and black aren't really considered colours if you take art. I took blue because previously I was riding an echo lite with all the blue parts. Well, now I know that future upgrade to middleburns would definitely be black! (But too bad cloud9 bash aren't black) Shimano saints are good, but mine seriously needs a rebleed, and front pad seems to be contaminated. Washed with dish washing liquid, sand about 0.5mm off, wash with dish washing liquid again, still no power. Used the rear pad on the front, and the power was there, so the problem definitely lie in the pads. And sad to say, more blue bits coming soon - blue echo brake clamps (have a blue booster too, but I ain't using it). My friend agreed to swap my dengura with his 04 maggy. LOL. I hope the maggy pistons could push the pads out to touch the rim. Do you guys think it'll hit? Mounts are 102mm apart, and the width of my rim is 32mm. I'm not really font of having disc for the rear. As for the ratio, I've decided on 18:14.
