I didn't say I've done it. It's just the generally accepted way to do it. You're having the spoke length problem because you're trying to build the wheel wrongly. It's much easier to change one of the two for the sake of wheelbuilds, though.

It IS different inside to a HS33, I've taken it apart and it's incompatible. I think this lever might have to do with why my brake is a bit toss. That, coupled with a dull grind and weirdly-worn pads...
