  5. meh... not the nicest picture of either of us... lol but hardly any pics in this topic, so thought i would add one. smitten as kittens, still together nearly 2 years later...awwww....all as one.........awwwww
  6. im very suprised at some of the reactions on here to this video. rodney mullen is the only skateboarder who impresses me other than bob burnquist (the switch master) not you have to remember i hate skateboarding, but this is inspirational. and like MonsterJ said its amazing what he singlehandedly done for skateboarding. hes like the stevie hamilton of skateboarding ben
  7. lol, waynio, give me my numbers back, i have 53 but need the others bigger than that, and isnt on tf tape measure, its a proper one i tell thee (Y) no but i do smell some shit as well, i accept people can go big, but im sure it gets to a certain point where is impossible, meh... well done to everyone but like waynio says, its about having fun, and also i personally prefer consistancy to the odd massive hop.. ben
  8. cool the train station suits me, about 11.30 ish i reckon might be a good time. what you all think, come on guys get your arses down to sheffield, wheres all the big guns........ come on guys for the trials-forum :S cheers ben
  9. no offence to anyone here, but can you not use downhillers as a reference or d/h as a type of mountain biking, it puts different stresses on a hub/parts than trials does, just because they take huge hits etc doesnt act as a comparison carry on discussion ben
  10. agreed, mainly beacuse having three points engaged at one time is better than just the one. i prefer reliability of engagement rather than the number of engagements. my king is always there when i need it. whereas a hope wasnt, it was easier for it to slip. number of engagements is just about the ease of finding an engagement when it is nessacary, such as being leant far back after a touch hop a king is easier to be in the correct engagement point where as a hope has less chance of being in the right position. :S kind of, i think..... but again thats my take
  11. scotty basically i see it as, hopes run 3 pawls engaging at the same time and i never have trusted them, they slip and stress alot, so imagine this with just one pawl holding you up at anyone time, if you have ever taken a hope apart you will see just how small this equipment is. v.small. so 1 of these pawls cannot be strong enough for the stresses trials puts upon a hub. now i dont know the exact details however kings dont rely on pawls, there are 72 points engaging at anyone time so this is why they almost never skip if bedded in correctly. i think that is right i wouldnt trust it not one pawl, for d/h they are the mutts nutts but not for trials. stay well away EDIT : GODDAM GUYS SLOW THE REPLIES DOWN
  12. i have done 53" twice, but my average is 51" that i can tap to back wheel and keep it., dw@hulltrials has done 54 :S :P but thats all i know of, i am sure i saw on a TRA video he did 58" but might have been a hook. meh ben
  13. so does anybody know where i can find the uk listings of the motorbike trials clubs. basically i want to find a club up here in aberdeen area and find out where they ride. if anyone knows a link or anything, i searched google but couldnt find anything. cheeers ben

  15. i should be there, should be an awesome one, loved nottingham last time i was there, hopefully not get thrown off this time :S cheers ben p.s anyone know anywhere were parking is half decent. and cheap, preferably free, or ill have to train it. ben
  16. 18th king cog for me guys. thats it :S no gears nottin ben
  17. good post boon, although never knew you were inspired by UCI/BIU :S i think i should be trying to go to watch some truly amazing riders. getting time off work is harsh, but im sure ill manage it you know how it is. cheeers ben
  18. point is that its a personal opinion thing, if u cannot afford 140 on middleburns then echo are better cranks, if you want a front freewheel echos are better cranks, if you prefer the echo label on the crank arm echos are better cranks. you cannot ask a forum what are the better cranks, then ultimately decide that one is better than the other because the majority says so... i dont think you understand....maybe your mate is all knowing wise man who has been alive for 2 million years and knows everything there is to know, so he is right, but its an opinion he is making. not a correct and justified statement. jeez....
  19. 60a grip aint as bad as people make out, i was learnign front hooks in the rain with that on the front, but yea if you want better grip or you ride natural alot then run a supertacky or slow reezay ben
  20. listen to mr porter, he knows where its at maxxis maxxis maxxis you truly wont get better than maxxis, ben
  21. i dont know if im the only person thinking this, but you post some crap posts, now dont take offence to that, but you really do.... i dont want an internet fight.... in their right mind people will think this is a shite question, both sets are good cranks, all except middleburns come in either standard or isis, the latter bottom bracket stylee which is stiffer and stronger in my opinion. middleburns cannot run front freewheel, whereas echo's can. its make your own choice here. please stop postin so much shit.... ben :S
  22. well im 20 going 21 in november, makes u feel reet shit when others on this foum are so good being soo young. mr porter for one, CLS for another, buggers all young and impressionable. ben
  23. come on guys stop arguin about whose right about trains. anyone who can make it where is good places to meet/park/ any suggestions on the place of meeting/time of meeting would be a good idea. probs about half eleven. im definately going as is couple of hull-trials riders and some that aint on here. looking forward to it. ben
