  1. agreed, mainly beacuse having three points engaged at one time is better than just the one. i prefer reliability of engagement rather than the number of engagements. my king is always there when i need it. whereas a hope wasnt, it was easier for it to slip. number of engagements is just about the ease of finding an engagement when it is nessacary, such as being leant far back after a touch hop a king is easier to be in the correct engagement point where as a hope has less chance of being in the right position. :S kind of, i think..... but again thats my take
  2. scotty basically i see it as, hopes run 3 pawls engaging at the same time and i never have trusted them, they slip and stress alot, so imagine this with just one pawl holding you up at anyone time, if you have ever taken a hope apart you will see just how small this equipment is. v.small. so 1 of these pawls cannot be strong enough for the stresses trials puts upon a hub. now i dont know the exact details however kings dont rely on pawls, there are 72 points engaging at anyone time so this is why they almost never skip if bedded in correctly. i think that is right i wouldnt trust it not one pawl, for d/h they are the mutts nutts but not for trials. stay well away EDIT : GODDAM GUYS SLOW THE REPLIES DOWN
  3. i have done 53" twice, but my average is 51" that i can tap to back wheel and keep it., dw@hulltrials has done 54 :S :P but thats all i know of, i am sure i saw on a TRA video he did 58" but might have been a hook. meh ben

  8. good post boon, although never knew you were inspired by UCI/BIU :S i think i should be trying to go to watch some truly amazing riders. getting time off work is harsh, but im sure ill manage it you know how it is. cheeers ben
  9. point is that its a personal opinion thing, if u cannot afford 140 on middleburns then echo are better cranks, if you want a front freewheel echos are better cranks, if you prefer the echo label on the crank arm echos are better cranks. you cannot ask a forum what are the better cranks, then ultimately decide that one is better than the other because the majority says so... i dont think you understand....maybe your mate is all knowing wise man who has been alive for 2 million years and knows everything there is to know, so he is right, but its an opinion he is making. not a correct and justified statement. jeez....
  10. 60a grip aint as bad as people make out, i was learnign front hooks in the rain with that on the front, but yea if you want better grip or you ride natural alot then run a supertacky or slow reezay ben
  11. listen to mr porter, he knows where its at maxxis maxxis maxxis you truly wont get better than maxxis, ben
  12. i dont know if im the only person thinking this, but you post some crap posts, now dont take offence to that, but you really do.... i dont want an internet fight.... in their right mind people will think this is a shite question, both sets are good cranks, all except middleburns come in either standard or isis, the latter bottom bracket stylee which is stiffer and stronger in my opinion. middleburns cannot run front freewheel, whereas echo's can. its make your own choice here. please stop postin so much shit.... ben :S
  13. well im 20 going 21 in november, makes u feel reet shit when others on this foum are so good being soo young. mr porter for one, CLS for another, buggers all young and impressionable. ben

  17. right guys, im new to this webdesign malarky.... i have made my pages in photoshop, and sliced them up into lots of small slices...... then exported through dreamweaver to make hotlinks.... now i was speaking to tart, he seems to think having larger slices will load quicker.... could someone shed some light on this for me please, its totally confusing, and would like quicker load times. many thanks ben the site is HULL-TRIALS
  18. my honest opinion is that i wouldnt run a single ply on the rear without a high pressure, now for example i run 18-20psi with a 2.5 double ply highroller and have punctured the once. now its a v.slw puncture but i know a single ply wouldnt have taken the landing. now for the front its a different story, a superb tyre with all round puncture resistance, as i dont run the tyre as low psi on the fron probs around 30psi. please dont get a single ply rear unless ur a weight weenie......adam likes pies remember so if he can keep weight on his bike down he is happier all round (Y) ben

  22. pedros is superb stuff as well, but just same quality as park, little bit cheaper than park in my experiences and if u can get some ball ended allen keys as they allow you to get in those niggly places. ben
