  1. I ride XC religiously these days, i first discovered XC in the lovely harsh winter weather and loved it.. It was a kinda sideline for me when i couldn't get a group of trials riders out in the wet. XC in the wet is fun, but you have to try riding XC when its super duper dry, the speed through the single tracks, such a buzz.. You're right on the edge of falling off, and your concintration, its like "yea, one slip here and its really gonna hurt" its all with speed to, its not like your on the edge of a wall, on the back wheel hoping for the best, its just now or never. Just put some Bomber 150mm's on the front of mine, bit burly for pure 'XC' use, but the dry weather is coming and as many people have said.. wales definatly needs to be teared up. Favourite XC ride to date, first time i tried using my SPD's.. kept doing stupid falls everywhere.. classic. Anyway.. When i was pure trials nothing else i was very narrow minded, always called 'XC' riders 'Jay Boys' never really realising what its all about. Thats nuff from me. Most of you wont know me anyways. Ah well.

    My Astravan

Going back to this rolling road thing.. It appears we're all being told different things! I was (what i thought to be) 'reliably informed' that the rollers don't actually tell you the BHP, the computer works that out, the rollers give you the torque figure then it does calculations to work out the torque ( i was told but arsed if i can remember ) Anyway, interesting read.. for both the shouting about and bucky's updates. Andy p's added some interesting reading, yes you can spend alot on making everything 'seem' to work better, i.e decent coilovers with dampin adjustment, top and lower braces front and rear and stiffer anti roll bars, but sometimes if the cars just not right, its not right.. set up is sooo important. And this leads me onto the scooby thing.. Most scooby's you can whip the tits off, chav's buy them because they have 'big bhp and a turbo to go vroom tsshh' but have no clue how to drive them.. give one a go you'll see what i mean. Going to the set up thing, do it once, do it right.. andy sounds like he's on the ball. Little tip for tyres though andy, if your planning on keeping the car a while, get yourself a 'free upgrade' to an even better set of tyres by buying 2 sets, talk nicely and say you want X tyre, but if you by a second set will he upgrade to Z tyre for the same price as 2 sets of the X tyre. (i don't mean X reading on the side, just doing like a thingy ma jigger.. like tyre brand 1, tyre brand2 type thing) Anyways, not really much point to my post, just thought i'd add my findings at the rollers. (make sure you have a fan blasting at your car on the rollers aswell.. otherwise your sucking heat you wouldn't otherwise.. some rollers don't bother with the fan, if they don't, don't use it.) ta me
  3. Personally, when i'm out i don't tend to try and do 15 foot drops and 9 foot gap downs and stuff like that, i prefer to find 'x' wall and just see what ways i can get up it and improve technique, once i've warmed up arsing about with things like that i tend to go for the bigger ups and gaps, but still not big 'street' i prefer more tech stuff, its not 'impressive' by any means.. However i enjoy myself when i'm out riding and thats what matters. If i do feel a bit sorta 'ermm i'm poo'ing myself here' i tend to leave it for that particular ride, go home strip my bike down completely, check over components and then next ride i feel 110% again with my bike. Knowing everything is 110% at the right torque settings and generally sexy smooth can help your riding performance (does mine anyway) Basically, if something is to big to the point where i'm poo'ing myself, i don't get cheesed off i just improve whatever techniques i need to to enable me to ride it later. I tackle street in a very compy kinda way "i wanna get from here to here, only put my foot down 5 times or i start again, both feet down i start again, no bashing either" kinda thing.. I enjoy it... You lot probably think thats boring, but i enjoy it.
  4. Thats just silly.. Say there are 100 riders who fancied doing this ride.. maybe only 30 of those can tap a 50" wall.. Thus single'ing out a hell of a lot of riders.. Bit silly that idea, but keep thinking! First bit, AMEN! Second bit.. Why the hell do we want more publicity?
  5. All i can say, DJ Memorial Ride. I personally think (maybe cause i knew DJ that i'm biased) but if we had a big ride, we COULD manage to get an area, COULD manage to get some pallets etc, we could pull it off, there are alot of minds to be put together, behind those minds could come alot of persuasive force. IF the ride went ahead, i feel any money raised shouldn't be given to people like RSPCA, rather towards a better course maybe something along the lines of funding towards a youth centres/projects or towards youth offender scheme's, something to keep the b*****d skallys out of cars at 16 and off the feckin streets, stop them pinching our feckin bikes aswell. Fair enough people like RSPCA need funding, you in your time may have seen an abandoned pet in your time, but DJ's death hits home alot harder then a bloody cat going missing. I feel personally if anything is done its done for DJ. Nothing else hits the trials scene harder then that tragic event, so why not use the trials influence to its maximum and help do something about it! Only thing that has crossed my mind though, your saying getting sponsorship money, but for what? Were not going to be riding for 30 miles or something, are you just expecting us to get paid to turn upto the day? Ta, Jang.

    Koxx Days Video

    video link doesn't work anymore.
  7. 1)So.. We'll make frames in the UK, the welders here arn't half as good as over there, and a £300 frame will now cost you £900.. Good luck with paying for your mortage. (Saying that, you'd live in a tent instead to be eco friendly?) 2)How many comps have you been to? How many times do you see just 1 person in a car? 3)Your being very arrogant aswell, assuming no one else gives a toss.. You just think we're arrogant because your assuming we don't think what you think. Tell me, do you own a microwave? tv? power shower? hedge trimmers.. whatever all uses power or gives off shit in some way or another. Infact, your using a computer to type on here, that gives off heat and uses electricity? £1095 for bus every day of the year. Car, (excluding original cost) - putting this into a very round average! Insurence £1000 Tax £175 MOT £100 Repairs £300? Per Yr.. Servicing £400 per yer + Fuel £260 Total £2235. Works out at £6.12 per day.. Double the cost right, HOWEVER its how you spend your own money, i'd rather pay double and have the convience of using it when i want and not waiting. Without going to work to earn my money, i'd be on the doll and taking more of the governments money, instead of paying them every month and every time i fill up.. They put a huge charge on stuff so they can keep going and decide matters like this. Hope she got the message about no anno parts on the bike? Haha, have you even smelt that stuff? the culprets here are delievery companies and there trucks, get them to use the bio stuff, but for them to arse about with that you have to make it cheaper, thus less money to the government.. Which then schools, hospitals etc suffer and the UK comes off alot worse. I seriously envy you if all you have to worry about it damn anno products! You got it bloody easy my son. I don't know anyone i've referenced here, and i don't mean it to sound like a personal dig.. I'd just love to see a new fighter jet for the army to be fully annodised.. Now thats a killing mechine
  8. New lower bb? You should have just done what i've done.. stuck with the 'normal' height, not bothered with this high bb crap... I say go back to the old skool, high bb should be put in the bin.. hence why its all coming back down again

    Pad Rub

Cylinder jam alllllways fun... Best thing you can do, remove your rear wheel, remove pads. Wind your tpa IN fully (as if you wanted it to lock straight away, not go back to the bar) Pull lever into bar and use zip tie to hold lever in. This will pull both cylinders right out Next get a can of GT85 or simular Push in with your hands one of the cylinders, this will make the other one move even further outwards Spray with GT85 Repeat for other side Wipe off excess from frame etc (Don't want this to come into contact with wheel/pads) Remove zip tie Wind your tpa OUT again Refit pads pull lever and see if both pads move in and out correctly. If you find your pulling your lever a little bit and the pads arn't actually moving at all, then rebleed brake as there is air in it. Hope that helps.
  10. You don't see girls on those 0900 numbers that charge £300000 a minute.. but they give you a hard on.. Trust me.. when mine gets naked, i have to close my eyes! being blind when that happens is heavenly Why imagine? I'll just stand by one and fart.. First they hear it.. second they smell it.
  11. That mixtape is absolutely sick The first guy in.. his linking style.. quality.. We all want super sharp locking brakes.. and he does all that with none.. crazy bersteward
  12. Shimano DX. Need i say more? Edit: V8's.. bent axle.. I dunno if this is a one off and no one else gets the problem.. but i wont touch the crap again. Pretty sure my friend sam had troubles with bearings on his. And the alloy cap thing on the inner edge is a pain in the ass.. always slides down and looks tacky.

    Avid Bb7 Help

Ali summed this up perfectly about the lever pull.. However i'm going to confuse you all again Now i can't remember who makes this, i have a feeling its Avid (although i can't find it!) there is a special little roller type thing (No not the one for rear mechs! bit like that though) which to put on instead of a noodle on a V brake which enables you to run the Vee with a drop bar style brake (which pulls the same as a canti brake lever).. Now.. i know mechanical discs don't run noodles like Vee brakes do, however you could still insert one of these down by the caliper and hey presto. Personally.. i'd say stuff that and get the right thing to begin with!
  14. I've got a set, over 4 years old now, i used them for 3.. Infact the bar and stem is the only thing i've not had to change... Reluctently there going to be sat in the garage to make way for some echo's.. bit of colour coding on the go. If you can find a set, get them.. And no your not having mine

    Leesons?

I got two words... Matt Potter. Leg-end.. That'll confused a hell of a lot of you new-skool people.. I'm starting to show my age
  16. He is currently looking for another 04 Pure. He has sold the Zenith and Pitbull. Even if Rowan is getting his ass licked, he deserves it, hes been riding for yonks and bloody good at it too. And unlike 99% of all the other people he doesn't brag about it either, he just loves being out on his bike and riding with other people.. Not seeing how many people will lick his ass. He's also a very helpful guy, if your struggling with a move of sorts then he'll help you out best he can. Another rider i know like that is Ben. Big Ben.. THink his name on here is Benji? Not entirely sure, Trials's biggest friendly giant.. One of the Swindon lot, used to ride a Curtis.. Not sure if hes even got a bike anymore. However, again, soooo laid back, such a guy to ride with, taught me to backwheel back in the day. Anyway.. Nuff bout that.. Thats answered the questions, cheers ta lovely.
  17. Jealous are we? Just because someone 'idolises' someone, thats no reason to take the pee, everyone needs a role model, helps get motivated and such. Wether thats with Trials or just life in general, someone to look upto is a good thing. And yes, if that means whatever Rowan is riding he rides then so be it.. In the guys mind its going to be the best thing since sliced bread and think 'yea.. Rowan does this so one day i will too' and thus making him progress. Thats about that for now i spose.
  18. I've got the tool, where i work also has the tool.. Thats Bristol though, if your over that way for some reason give me a shout and i'll sort it. 10 min job. Also have facing tools and headset reaming tool. Cheers ta.
  19. Heres how i know.. When i was younger i was always trying to pull the older ladies, now i'm getting old i want to pull the younger ladies to make me feel fresh again Burps/farts have also dropped down a few notes aswell.. Almost pure bass infact.
  20. Yea, it has been a while.. Member number 180 something.. old skool Been to long, had quite a tragic story which put me off the riding scene.. As for your bottom bracket, you could try and hack into the spacer, if money is really tight.. However i wouldn't recommend it. Your cranks will probably hit into your frame. I've got a 115mm BB here doing absolutely nothing, if you pay the postage (bout £2?) i'll send it you if you want, it is used but was on the XC bike for a little while. Moved onto hollowtech on the XC so no longer need the normal BB. Upto you, just trying to help out if things are tight. Dunno if that was a welcome back spacemunkee.. But meh.. howdy EDIT: Christ! i joined here in 2002.. probably stopped using the forum mid 2004.. Its now almost 2007! Where the hell has time gone.
  21. The BB is to short for that crankset.. Certain cranks are designed to run with certain length BB's. With cross country crank sets for example, its more important to get this perfect otherwise you wont change gear at the front. For example, a Shimano Tourney (TX71) crankset will run with a 127.5/122 (at a push!) bb.. Where as a Shimano Alivo crankset (TX73?) will run with a 118/115 BB. This is because the PCB is different. Almost like a car, the offset of the first ring in relation to where the BB meets the crankset is where its detirmined. Although with a car its where the hub is in relation to the centre of the wheel. Hope that helps.. Looks like you've got a 108mm/110mm BB in your frame atm.. ubber short!
  22. Also being a local to Bristol, would be shame to see it knocked down and redeveloped... However, two factors come into play.. A - The extra business it will generate for all the shops in town.. (not that i really care though!) B - This is a little more important, castle park is not really any longer a 'friendly' place to ride and chill, to many smack heads hanging around waiting to pounce on whoever is chilling/riding around there. Well thats that summed up.. I say keep castle park.. knock down the smack heads intead
  23. You just can't beat Shimano DX pedals.. 4 sealed bearings, replaceable pins.. Grip whatever trainer, whatever weather... Take a smash and a half and still ask for more.. Had them on 5 bikes now.. Never busted a set (one i used for just over a year) Had two sets of V8s, borrowed some V12's and bent the left one, smashed through some old skool caged pedals.. DX is where its at. (Only thing to come out of the shimano factory i'll actually touch btw.. The rest of the stuff is utter shite)
