Yeah early next week would be good. I know a few spots in the centre. I'm subscribed to this thread so just post here nearer the time.

I'm living very centrally this year. Not back at uni properly until September, but I'm here on placement until the 24th, so let me know if you're about. There's a handful of riders about. Haven't ventured out to Salford Quays yet...

The perfect mod

On a side note I far prefer chains that come with a C-clip style joining link to the powerlink style link that came with my recent KMC branded Z610. The former should be no less strong than a normal link, plus is super easy to remove, even under tension.
-
It can happen. I've snapped a Z610 on its first outing, verified by Tarty to be not be due to faulty joining. Since then I've been running bigger chains without problems, though I've just put on a new 610, so I guess I'll see...

Is this Manchester? Whereabouts?

Took the plunge with micro four thirds and got a good deal on a Panny GX1 with an extra Panasonic 14mm (28mm equiv) f/2.5. That said, I'm looking for zoom really so if anyone fancies a new wide angle MFT lense for cheap, let me know. Link

The X100 sounds really, really nice, but I'm looking for a primary camera with lens options and I gather the X100 is fixed? I really like GX1 (MFT) but the video is below par for a £500 camera. The lens prices are also pretty offputting. I wonder if I could buy an EOS adapter for an MFT body...

My camera money is burning a hole in my pocket but I'm still pretty torn between a Canon SLR and something mirrorless (probably a Panasonic GX1). What do TFers think of Micro Four Thirds? Clearly image quality isn't up there with the APS-C mirrorless systems, but I like it because it's an open standard and I feel like I could invest in lenses without throwing money down the drain (compared to to say, the NEX system).

My G9 finally packed up the other day for no apparent reason. But it served me well and I've been eyeing up DSLRs for a while now... Any chance of some buying advice? My budget is ~500 so I've been looking at the The 550D, 600D and 5100D. What are the other contenders at this price? Is second hand a good idea? I don't really have any special requirements... But good autofocus video and a decent-ish burst rate is important. I've got no DLSR gear or glass to my name and maybe just a smidgeon of Canon loyalty.

As above, I'd probably try giving it a good flush with a thin solvent lube like WD40 or GT85. Chances are that if you can hear the bearings rattling around, you've got rid of most of the grease. Obviously you then need to re-oil.

I think Deng was a bit ambitious with the TR disc. Mine seems to leak at both the master (now fixed) AND slave, which means that my pads self-contaminate. It's light, looks nice and has acceptable power with Hope pads, but is easily the most annoying brake I've owned. Give the hope trial pads a try - I'd be surprised if you manage to break those.

I don't think he's saying that some breeds aren't more aggressive than others — if he is, he's clearly talking BS — he's suggesting that this training isn't limited to certain breeds. I personally find the whole concept of training an otherwise peaceful animal to mame people on demand ******* terrifying, but I then I haven't been stabbed before.

This. It's also worth pointing out that all the expensive triple layer Shimano 'ICE' tech is totally pointless in trials given that our brakes barely get warm.

I don't really see the point if you're running singlespeed. The removable links aren't inherently less strong. Providing you install the clip in the right direction, you can't really screw up. By contrast, a lot of people seem to struggle to join chains properly. I think that the quick links are easier and probably safer for most people.

Apart from the headtube/headset arrangement it looks really nice. Here's the French version: http://www.tribalzine.com/?Les-Koxx-Kloud-26-20

Out of interest, can you sidehop away from your leading foot as well? I've just started trying to kick the habit of doing it the way you're doing it (although it doesn't seem to cause you any issues!) and can see that it will be better for me in the long run. Looking good.

The Manchester spots that I saw were right underneath the wheel near Printworks, Piccadilly gardens benches and the amphitheatre thing next to Bar 38. Nice riding

I had quite a few pinches running the Kinetics on my Pure, even with lots of air. It's fine on the front though. I think they do a Big Betty in 24"? Clearance might be an issue but a half link should sort it.

I'm keen, but am volunteering until around midday... Any chance you could drop me your number in a PM so I can catch up a bit later on in the afternoon? Cheers, Bede
