I'm relieved that there's some agreement on here. YES. Their whole business model is based on deception. It makes me furious. Friends don't let friends buy Beats headphones.

I could rant all day about the Beats by Dre / Monster Cable brand. As far as sound quality is concerned, for the Beats Studio at least, you're paying roughly double what you should be paying for an equivalent set of headphones from a respectable brand. Build quality is poor for the price (£280!) and I know several people who have snapped their pairs in half. Also, the 'studio' moniker is largely BS - all Beats products have a bass heavy EQ which makes them fairly pointless for serious monitoring. They're not bad though for general listening, so people who've never listened to a decent pair of headphones before will probably be impressed. If you care about the noise cancellation, you can do far better for less money. This is coming from the parent brand Monster Cable, whose business model is dependent on consumer naivety to flog them unnecessarily expensive HDMI cables. If you're looking a for a good value set of hi-fi headphones, look elsewhere. If you care about your headphones more as a fashion accessory, then they might be for you. I can't comment on any of their in-ear phones...

Santander... A couple of years ago they charged me for a late mortgage repayment. At the time I was 18, living at home and doing my A levels. THEY THOUGHT I HAD A MORTGAGE. Needless to say I moved elsewhere. To their credit they refunded me the charge plus a good will / we screwed up massively gesture, without questioning. I find that banks can be quite reasonable and will reduce charges if you ask them nicely.

I was torn between the original Sensation and the Galaxy S2. The Sensation is the better built of the two and the XE looks pretty but the screen on the S2 is just so much better. Samsung's Android customisations aren't as extreme and the UI feels more fluid than Sense. The camera on the S2 is also a LOT better for stills and video. The Sensation chugs through HD, missing frames here and there. Samsung QC is dire, however. Don't be surprised if you have to return one or two phones before you get a good one. I would try out an S2 if you haven't already.

Really enjoyable night. I wasn't given a place before the event but was allowed to lark about on a Fourplay anyway. Everyone was just really friendly including the security guys. Fingers crossed that there are indeed more of these to come.

That's on a Echo disc brake yeah? Did you find the brake a bit limp when you first bought the bike? I certainly did.

Still no SWF?! SWF is the only format that will work on ANY machine with Flash Player installed. You might find your game faster as an SWF because it will run under the latest version of Flash Player rather than the version bundled with your copy of Flash Professional. EDIT: My bad!

No worky for MacOS 10.6 unfortunately — I'm itching to give this a try! What version of Flash are you using? CS3 onwards is at least capable of exporting in a suitable format. From memory CS3 onwards exports them with .app extensions You could just provide an SWF? That would work on everything

I'm guessing this is normal flash exported as an EXE? Would be able to provide an SWF? That way people running Mac OS and Linux can play it as well (myself included). If you're worried about hosting the SWF (or indeed the exe) I can do too — send me a PM

"Velociraptors on bikes"

Obvious, but consider getting a second bike so you can get your speed kicks. I go through phases of riding more XC than trials, but often find that I'm more confident on the trials bike after a bit of a break.

Yep, had for a few years and was playing rugby which made it so much worse. Right knee is now fine but the left has permanent bony lump which is still a bit sore. I always, always, wear knee pads on the trials bike now. Piece of advice... if it hurts, stop, or you'll end up with a mutant knee for the rest of your life like me.
