LOL. Saying that just because one thing is better suited to one application, it should be used in every application possible is like eating popcorn chicken from a hollowed out baby. And you can't vouch such a strong opinion for disc brakes' superiority over hydraulic rim brakes, considering you've never even used them.
-
I think your username is hilariously depressing Also, that either my past experience of disc brakes has been shoddy, or that disc brakes just aren't for me. To me they just feel, bleurgh. Like they take a relaxed approach to braking, and just chill around all "Oh a car's appeared in front of you? S'pose I better start slowin' you down pretty soon then, eh?" whereas rim brakes are just like "POWEERRRRRRRRR", I've never used trials-specific disc brakes though. The best thing about discs for me is the modulation, especially when someone uses it to nose manual over a woman, I loved that video. (I'll post a link when I'm not on my iPod). A few people on here love their vees, some love their Maggies or those Echo ones, and others love their discs, it's just personal preference, looking at the pros and cons for each, then deciding which suits you best. Have a vote as well, this spate of new members that can actually spell pleases me. Well done Sire

Yes, you want full cro-mo if possible, it's stronger and less likely to break. Sign up on www.bmx-forum.co.uk, take a look in the classifieds, you don't need to be validated to buy. Or there's sites such as http://www.sourcebmx.com/, and http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/, although I've seen a lot of people that tend to avoid Winstanley's due to poor service and goods taking months to reach them, as well as receiving the wrong goods. Oh, and people have seen stock in on the website, only to ring up and find that there's actually none in and he hasn't changed the website. It is super cheap though, so if you're up for a bit of hassle you might end up saving some money. BMX Forum has some pretty sweet custom builds, on the cheap too, definitely work a look, even if it is a bit NMC-ish. Brands to look out for; WeThePeople are decent, as are Subrosa, and I like the look of some of the Sundays. Haro, Mongoose and GT are pretty much the "budget bikes", and suffer abuse at skate parks etc. although, some of them aren't too bad. BMX Forum will offer a lot more help in the way of what brands to avoid/look for, and you could always write up a topic asking for help on there.

Couldn't complete, as I haven't been on a road trip, I was unable to fill in questions 4 - 7, which didn't have an answer which was "Not Applicable" or something similar.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit you're quick!* Cheers Mark Another thing is, I've taken my dérailleur and shifters off, and I'm going to be running a full cassette on the back, just using one cog with a tensioner. Will having the full cassette on 'cause any problems until I get a single-speed kit? Btw, when I first saw your bike my jaw actually dropped a little haha, looks suuuuper nice *Inb4, TWSS.

I've taken my gears off and I'm in the process of going single-speed. The chain is juuuuuuust a little too tight, so I'm going to put in an extra link and get a tensioner. I've seen people saying that sprung are better than fixed, but never why, and I've noticed a few people getting a fixed tensioner to add a little more path for the chain to travel 'round, and keeping it as close to the chain stays as possible. Which tensioner would be best suited to my set-up? And what are the pros and cons of fixed/sprung tensioners?
-
PM'd. Probably come down and show my face. EDIT for crazy re-post. 2ND EDIT: If anyone's got a sprung tensioner for sale, could you PM me or something and sort something out

Shit the bed! I thought I was seeing some awful currency conversion when I saw the frame on some random site for 3k! Definitely one for staff discount
-
Is there anything they can't do Thought as much, cheers Mark
-
Slightly on topic, do you use axle bolts with snail cams? And you just use the snail cams as a guide to get your chain on a decent tightness?

The ad for the bike was in his signature (sig), a space that every user has which is there for people to write whatever they choose (providing it follows the guidelines). A person's sig appears with their information, in every post they make. He chose to advertise a bike in his sig, he wasn't offering you a bike. Baha.

Btw, take a vote davidbarr.

If you have a time machine set for 1980. My mate did the money one, but changed it a bit, When he dropped the money in front of them, he'd lower his pants at the back, so when he bent over, they just got a face full of ass. I have no idea why or how, nor do I want to know, but he ended up with her number. Oh, and in case you didn't catch my username, here it is again: Ninja Manatee.

My thoughts exactly! Does look like a beast though, how much did that set you back?
-
Hilarity most certainly did ensue.

It could be even worse, you could be calling trainers "sneakers".

*Arguably the best. He's getting Phatpads because he dislikes Heatsink Yellow's wear rate. As has been said, try to include more information on the details of your set-up, there isn't a solid "best pad", factors including grinds and rims can also effect the performance of your brake, so you'd need to include what you're running and how. Also, more detailed and coherent posts would've been helpful, quoting what bikeperson45 said, and adding no response did nothing but add to the confusion.
-
No he shouldn't. He should get a year 2000 Zoo Lynx.
