yar i aint as dumb as i look see >_< make sure you leave the pawls and springs in the hub when u lock it out though >_<
-
why not keep the hope backwheel in either case (i'd keep the rear freewheel if i were you) but if you get a FFW just remove the internal spacer from your hope hub and you can lock it out. saves you buying a new or heavier hub/wheel or welding anything. do up your fangled allen bolts in your leeson quite tight and the hub will be locked out. then all you have to do is a buy a fixed front cog (cheap i assume) and put the spacer back in your hub, and you have a rear freewheel again. good cool ace

ye but i think the atomlabs are anodised so..if you grind the braking surface on a plain rim then the rest of the coat still stays on everywhere else on the rim. my point was that if you grind the braking surface on your painted rim then it is probable that the black paint you'll have just put on will flake off the top of the rim too...because it won't be stuck to the existing surface even nearly as well as a proper rim coating. could try is i guess...no harm done you definately want a 521/ex watever they are now..they are quite simply the best rims as for stickers? atomlab ones on a mavic rim..a bit pointless/lame? i only did it for sponsor reasons lol. i only said about it cos the white/black effect when they spin looks nice...but it wouldnt have to be an atomlab sticker.
-
if you re grind it after its been all sprayed, you may flake off the paint from the top of the rim i ripped the stickers off my old rims and just put them back on. but that was only to keep sponsors happy (Y)" if you ring up extra uk they might be able to send you some, i'm not too sure. if not..just find other white stickers to put on it. such as ones which say "spin spin spin spinney spin"

ditch the stickers...and get some bog standard £4 car spray paint on them i did it with both silver and black rims, one with sprayed braking surface and one without. they were both pretty hard wearing if you give it lots of coats i did my back one and kept the CD braking surface, just by spraying from above, and then sanding down any specks lightly from the braking surface to remove them. that was when i had them built up in a wheel (i sprayed the spokes too) then...put atomlab stickers on them and you're away (Y)

depends what you want it for. working for me means a bit of bite yet good modulation (you can guess why). i use red pads on a smooth rim and i have done forever - whatever you may say about x, y and z pads/rims this setup does work most of the time. BUT the thing about my brake is, you can have it both ways. if i had a harsh grind and super sticky pad...i couldn't manual or do anything remotely smoothly. but IF i need that extra bite for say a big rail gap or something, splodge on a tiny bit of tar for the extra hold and the job's a goodie. give it a little while and it's worn off, thus allowing you to ride more streety again. so mine works, for me, in both cases and disciplines. maybe working for everyone else apart from me is "super f**king grabby" - but you won't see them manualling or owt so they're stuck with it one way.
