I used to have a t Rex which is the same frame as a cleaner, was a great bike for me to learn on, convert it single speed 22-16 gearing and get some lighter forks and bars/stem. You will have a half decent rig. That's what I did and it never let me down

Advice please fellas, got a brand new Clarke disk brake on the front of my jump bike, is set up properly and has naff all power. New pads, new disk, all nice and clean. Pads are sintered metal ones judging by the appearance. Help?

right kidder little science lesson now(by the way i`m not being patronising). for starters maguras use mineral oil, this is not the same as brake fluid as it`s viscosity and corrosion properties are completely different. maguras run at a very low temperature compared to a disk brake and run a sealed system reservoir, as opposed to a disk brake such as a hope or formula, or any motorbike disk brake. this negates the need for expensive hydraulic(brake) fluid. also the compression properties of water and oil are completely different, for instance bleed your magura first with oil, then bath bleed it with water and i garauntee you will get a firmer lever feel from water. this is because water compresses alot less than oil, due to the density and oxygen(air) content of it. never assume anything mate. i`m not meaning to shoot you down, its just the two systems of braking are totally different, and therefore require different setting up. you are right in assuming this won`t work in a motorbike, and i know this because i have several of them. Brake fluid is used instead of water in a motorbike braking system because it has a much higher boiling point than water, and certain lubricating properties. as i mentioned earlier, you can use water in a magura because of the lower temperature working range.

yeah 10th sounds good to me, my ex wife is having the little un that day anyway, so let me know where you are doing it and i`ll be there.

it`s not dot 5 brake fluid, its mineral oil you need, either magura royal blood or lhm mineral oil that is used in citreon car suspension. you can get the lhm stuff from halfords ands its cheaper per litre than royal blood. don`t use dot 5 it will destroy your seals in the whole brake.

i`m game, i live in goole so is only a 20 min drive for me. i`m more up for natural trials anyway as i`m used to doing it on motorbike. you`ll have to agree a date and get it posted on here. cheers from dan

as if mate. i`ve got marzocchi all muontain 4`s with a 20mm bolt through axle and they are spot on. 150mm travel(i think) and i`m 15 stone. and they suit me just fine and i`ve not broke them. ps they are on a dmr sidekick. cheer from dan

don`t worry my son. I`m 30 in august and weigh 15 st. there is always someone older and fatter than you

first of all, make sure your TPA is wound all the way out. loosen all the mounting bolts so they are just nipped slightly, then put a penny between your pads and the rim. squeeze the lever lightly until you see the piston bodys move very slightly, then get a helper to fasten a cable tie around the lever to your bars. this leaves you with two hands to get it all done up right. tighten the bolts opposite each other, do it half a turn at a time. this way if you need to alter something, you aren`t backing everything right off again. once all the bolts are tight, undo the cable tie and the pistons should retract just the right amount, leaving you rub free brakes. this method worked the best for me, and i`ve been using maguras in one form or another for years. never failed me yet. have fun, dan

i didn`t have a cutting disc, so i used a brand spanking new grinding disc with a sharp edge.i used the bare minimum of pressure, and just lightly roughed up the surface of my rims, and the difference is epic. i run standard magura blacks on the front, and onza limes in the back. i can`t believe the difference, it locks on solid now and only need one finger rested on as opposed to 2 with a lot of force. and i`ve never done it before. stop moaning lol and get grinding. but ferchristsakes be gentle.

yeah i think i can make it, depends on childcare though, my old man picks his new motorbike up 2mora so don`t think hes having my lad on sat now.
