It's also normal to expect a bit of ragging if you start a thread like this. It's only banter.

I think it's already been mentioned but I reckon it's a case of older riders viewing things with rose tinted glasses. If people think parts are weaker maybe it's because they've got bigger and started riding bigger. If the scene doesn't seem as good maybe it's because your older and the realities of the world have started to dawn on you and your no longer as care free as you once were. And to Ben, I get the impression your more disillusioned with trials as a sport beause it didn't bring you everything you hoped it would. There's no point moaning about parts or the scene or whatever else, just focus on the positives you've had out of the sport and if it no longer makes you happy then find something that does. Not having a go mate I just got that impression that's all.

I meant the link to their fb page, you can message them on there.

There's a link at the start of the thread

I don't know why people keep bringing Damon up, how many other riders weigh as much as him, put as much torqu through the drive train, put as much stress on the front front end and do massive dropgaps? I agree though that it would be nice to see a wider selection of stronger, albeit heavier, parts available, but I'm also realistic enough to understand why there isn't. I think a lot of people forget that there are a hell of a lot of comp riders around the world and that manufacturers naturally cater to them as that's a bigger market than a handful of tgs riders with no money. I still think there are decent strong parts available though but you just need to be selective in what you buy.

A few minor problems with a brand new bike..
dngr2self replied to The_Zulu's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
If you've tightened the top cap bolt and your forks still wobble then you may need a spacer under the stem to lift it a few mm. You can get your wheels trued at any local bike shop, or if you feel confident then you could do it yourself, I'm sure there is a video floating about showing how it's done. It's fairly common for newly built wheels to need tweeking after a couple of rides, this may also be contributing to your brakes feeling crap.As far as putting a bash ring on goes, I think any should fit but give tarty bikes a bell to check. -
Don't get me wrong I'd love to have the money to buy top end parts. I think with other cycling disciplines there is a bigger percentage of riders that are older with a higher disposable income so manufacturers cater to them, unlike trials which is much smaller and includes a lot of younger riders with less money.

Other brands will fill the void, just look at what JAF are doing. Damon's frame was off Josh and it was about the only part that didn't break.I'd like to see an inspired comp frame built like their street frames, I dare say it'd be a bit pricey though.

In other news the forum will be changing its name to Fairy Forum.

It'll be interesting to see a video of one of these. I'd be suprised if it lasted long with me riding it but it might be ok with a slimmer smoother rider.

Try APC on Marfleet Lane. Wrap them instead of boxing them as well, that should save you some money. It cost me a tenner when I sent my frame to JAF.

Double sided tape works well with bar tape. Mine hasn't moved at all.

When your on here go to the bottom and tap full version. When you go to post there should be a thing that says more posting options and from there you should be able to attach photos. That's what I've always done anyway.

Chilled out Southampton ride on a sunny Sunday :)
dngr2self replied to narrowbars's topic in Riding Pictures
Exactly what I thought. It works well on the ones with the buildings either side though. -
When you say light is king what kind of figure do you have in mind? If you're from mtb background then most trials bikes will seem light, even the ones considered heavy in the trials world will seem light.

Tartybikes or Trials Addict are pretty good to buy from.

Brakeless and "brakewith" riding. Difference. Limitations?
dngr2self replied to clerictgm's topic in Trials Chat
The social side of riding is one the best parts for me. Maybe you should try and get into another style of riding or try and influence more people to try riding. -

I thought you had already started a thread like this. Anyway.... personally its too difficult. I probably could learn to ride brakeless but I still feel like I have a lot to learn with brakes. I would like to give it a try in the future though. After watching Flipps last vid I think riding brakeless gives you a certain style even when you put the brakes back on. -
They should be ok in theory but obviously not. You could try echo tr's, they would give you an extra 4mm. It's not ideal though is it? You'd think you would be able to just put your cranks on and not worry about them hitting.
-
Cool cheers .
-
Is there a supermarket or something similar near to barrow farm?
-
What cranks are you running? When I got my genesis I got some echo cranks because the offset is pretty good.
-
Nice edit and riding. Even the cheesy music worked. Where was it filmed.

Lovely stuff.

That looks really nice. I like the pics showing the different stages of the build as well. I'm definitely getting a jaf frame next.
