  1. So how much difference would an i5 make over an i3? Like would it be a worthwhile upgrade? And would that require a new MoBo too? I seriously need to get myself back into this I feel like a retard asking these questions, seems a few years makes a huge difference lol.
  2. Cheers mate, much appreciated, I don't think he'll be overclocking or anything. As long as it'll still be decent in a year's time I think that's his only concern really. Is there anything in there that could be changed to make a big improvement or is it a pretty good all round spec with no bottle necks?
  3. I don't think it's something he's super serious about, I just think he wants the ability to do so himself, probably not even the level of editing some videos see on here, and for photos it's probably just touching them up a bit but again nothing major. He uses his parents comp at the moment, but I think it's a combination of not living there and it being a shop bought desktop from a few years ago that he's wanting the comp he's buying to be able to do it. To be fair, I'd say it's more for the gaming side of things now, but I know he wants it to be reasonably future proof. Just rang him again to try and extract more info, he confirmed the stuff about editing, he said he'd like it to be able to do it well in case he does start doing it a lot more. But he said the main focus of it will be gaming, he named a few games but I remember BF3 and the new Black Ops, he said that he wants them to run super smooth on high graphics if that's possible within his budget. But also so that in a years time, a new game will run well too, so he's not having to upgrade for a while.
  4. Worrying that you can't get one for less than £750 lol, he did say he didn't want a noisy beast of a thing, and I said that I didn't think that would even be an issue nowadays but I doubt he'd mind spending a bit more for that type of thing. He's currently got a laptop that wouldn't play anything really. So I don't think he's expecting anything amazing and I don't think he's played any games apart from console stuff. I don't even know what PC games are like currently? I know he's a big fan of FPS games, so I'm sure he'd want the next CoD to run very well if possible? Like 12xx by 10xx or whatever it is if not better on max graphics?
  5. To be honest I'm not sure what he wants spec wise, as he knows less than me. I'm not sure how fixed his budget is either, but I reckon he'd be willing to move it up especially if you think for an extra £100 or so he'd gain a lot. If there was any building involved I'd probably be helping him out, so there's no biggy about buying parts and building, but I've got to say I'd prefer somewhere that could do a custom build so I'm not to blame for anything going wrong lol. Again on the multiple graphics cards I have no idea, is it worth while? When I did my last build Crossfire and SLi etc was really new so I don't know how well it works etc. Just belled him to see what he thinks, he said if £600 is a good improvement on £500 he doesn't mind going to there, but £700 would be pushing the budget to it's limit, again, not arsed if he gets a big improvement but if it's only marginal he isn't too bothered I don't think. I have no idea what he quantifies as a big improvement though lol. I might chuck a post up on OCUK and see what they say. But I know there's normally a lot of good info on here and I know who knows their fields too, so I know that information is reasonably reliable Cheers mate.
  6. Awesome, made my stomach churn at the start. Huge respect.
  7. I thought 32gb seemed like an insane amount, but even seeing it made my mind bend a little. Same with some of the SSDs I've seen, I remember 64gb SSDs being big, like the old Raptors etc, now there's 320gb ones. It hurts my brain to even think about the sort of power a computer could have these days.
  8. Hi chaps, I just went searching for the Tech Support thread but it's been locked, so my apologies if there's somewhere more appropriate than this, but I know Muel knows his shit. A friend asked me about building a comp as he knows I've done my own in the past, but I don't know the score anymore really, he has about £500 to spend and he wants to be able to play games and edit videos/photos too, I've had a little look around and I've seen comps with 32gb of RAM, back when I built mine 4gb was a lot so I feel I should get some extra advice on this one. If anyone has any ideas or specs it'd be much appreciated. Thanks guys.
  9. Yeah, I do know what you mean, it's a lot of time required to get to where the game gets good which puts a lot of people off. I didn't like it at first, but I played a game called Planetside, which is the same time of game, leveling etc, but it's an FPS as opposed to an RPG, it's a lot better. PvP is very different to PvE though, much smaller group, much more like CoD, I didn't really play PvE it was all about PvP for me. On the topic of days off, there was a raiding guild called Nihilum, they cleared new content in days, they were forced to take days off work to stay in the guild, that's how hardcore they were
  10. Just kill them both and use their bodies as you please.
  11. I know a guy that used to do the re-enactment stuff. He came into work once with a broken arm, because that's how hard they actually hit each other with shit. He showed me a video of him just one bombing some guy for insulting him as well. Just because you've seen Role Models, doesn't mean you know what the re-enactment stuff is really like And on the WoW subject, I played for 4 years, made some good friends, but there are quite a few idiots, as much as people like CoD now, when I was a kid, I got called a nerd for playing that type of game, it's just acceptable now. Once the idea of what WoW really is (25 people all working together and fighting tactically to kill a dragon) people might like it a bit more. Especially with how shit like Harry Potter and Twilight is so popular now and has opened up the masses to magic and shit. Just read something else someone said about WoW, about Res Sickness etc, yeah it is a time killer, you do have to put the time in. And it's most certainly not pick up and play. But the fact you're saying you can't log out while being attacked, shows how little you've played, at end game, in end game gear, something attacks you in the wild, it's dead within a few seconds. So it's hardly a big deal. You should never ever get res sickness either because you should just run to your body. Like I said, you need to put a lot of time in to get anywhere, but that's the same with anything worth doing. In the old school days, of 40 man raids, it was definitely worth it, 40 of you on TeamSpeak trying to kill a dragon is always cool
  12. She seems more clever than crazy to me, she thinks something worthwhile may come of it but doesn't want to ruin her Uni experience of getting shafted multiple times. So the only question is, do you wanna go first, or do you wanna go last?
  13. Thought I'd throw this in there, I've been eating exactly the same terrible diet for the past 3 weeks, just less of it, maybe 2/3 of what I would normally eat, and I've lost about 3 or 4lbs, so sometimes it's not what you eat, it's purely quantity. Maybe just ask her to cook you a bit less? And try to eat healthier elsewhere. Although I can imagine cooking bacon and chips drifting around the house makes you incredibly hungry lol.
  14. Protein pills aren't the same as protein shakes, and obviously with the amount of misinformation you're going to get in here, as there are 2 posts that are bull shit already, I'd wait a while and make sure you do a good scout out. What do you want to achieve is the biggest factor? Do you want to be huge, do you want to be cut? Do you want to have physical ability as well as a look or is the look good enough? Just be wary, you're putting shit into your body, and you're asking for advice where there are a lot of under qualified people who think they know just about everything on a subject. The weight training thread would be a worthwhile look, and obviously just googling and finding nutrition and different kind of fitness websites, depending on what you want to achieve, and they generally have threads packed full of good information from people who have a lot of experience or a lot of knowledge in their fields.
  15. Joesef Fritzl's basement was probably the hardest.
  16. Let the bitches come to you, if they think you're not interested, they are, if they think you're interested, they aren't.
  17. My problem wasn't really with the way they played, it was more the way everyone applauded how well they had played. When really it was Barca that played well, and that was Chelsea's only option. So I wanted people to see that side of it, but most don't, they continue to arse lick Chelsea. It was a great tactic, and it worked well, but that doesn't mean Barca deserve no credit for forcing such defensive play and still maintaining control of the game apart from a few sloppy breaks (From Barca's viewpoint) that Chelsea got. Another unbelievable semi-final though, great first half, dong second half.
  18. Madrid have a ruthless counter attack as well, and the possession would be slightly more even, they'd get destroyed, especially with the amount of players who they have missing from the final. Bayern would crush them anyway, so much attack from the wings. As long as the final is a good game, it doesn't matter, but I would have liked an El Classico repeat.
  19. Agreed, I've already had about 5 arguments with people about it, I hate the whole "National pride" bull shit when it comes to European football, but if a team played like that against their team they'd be going mad. It kills the game. Not saying it isn't a good tactic, but Barcelona play beautiful football, Chelsea just looked like dog shit even though they got the result. Madrid / Bayern will crush them in the final.
  20. Seeing as this thread seems to have died while I've been away... EL CLASSICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I think I've found a few teams to do pre-season training with, summer could be awesome with many things going on.
  21. That's great mate, cheers, that's given me a bit of structure to work with. So let's say I did a 5mile run one day, just slow and steady, then the next day do a mile or so, day off, then 2-3 miles of the fartlek running, mile or so next day, sprints, rest, repeat? Or should I increase my distances? I can sprint, stop for a minute, sprint, stop for a minute, over and over, my girlfriend runs and runs without getting tired, but her top speed is like the slowest I can possibly go. It's like she's the complete opposite running style. Cheers again for the help, I hate googling stuff like this because the advice can always be a bit sketchy or not necessarily that tailored.
  22. I get what you mean by short and quick and long and slow, but what do you mean by recovery and fartlek? I guess sprints is just a quick short blast or intervalesque? Sorry for going on with the questions lol. I just want to be able to get better, and I don't mind the effort or it taking a little longer than most because of my sprinting roots.
  23. I'll just take a look at a free one that tracks what I'm doing. I'm afraid I've got the pace already, but I just can't do the distance, in school I was a sprinter but I never did long distance, my dad was the same, he could never run more than 2k but he ran everything up to 400m for his school. I just want to be able to keep fit by running, I really enjoy it, just so dog shit at it lol. Cheers for the advice JD, I'll just keep pushing through and stop being a pussy
  24. Okay, cool, I'm a terrible distance runner it seems. I try to do intervalish training, jogging until I'm at the point of wanting to stop, then sprinting flat out until I need to stop, walking until I am recovered then repeating. I reckon I'm close to a 9.30min mile, I'll time myself next time I go running, are there any good running apps for that sort of thing?
