  1. Lol... get a new disc. I can't imagine them to give any good grind. I just recently bought a Bosh Diamant Disc and it works a treat especially as it doesn't show any wear, after having used it for 4 wheels. _4144462 by niconj, on Flickr _4144464 by niconj, on Flickr
  2. I think it depends, as always, on the combination of rim/pad/grind. What works for one setup, doesn't necessarily work for another. If found the Trialtech pads stellar on an Echo TR rim, on a Trialtech rim they just sucked.
  3. I've had Trialtechs and French cousts on an Echo SL rim until recently and haven't really been blown away by the performance. I'm pretty heavy with 93kg and the hold (especially on steep rocks) wasn't really there (Racing Line Lever and Magura Slaves if that matters). I switched to a Deore V-Brake with TNN ADM pads ( because I got it rather cheap) and it's perfect. Bite and hold as much as you can wish for. Almost as good as my Saints on the 24''.
  4. I snapped one after having ridden it for 6 months. The outer sprocket just broke in half at a gap. Another one's pawls snapped after having ridden in for only a couple of times and the one I have mounted now sounds rather weird. I talked to some friends who've been in the business for way more than me and some of them have been riding their ECHO SLs for a couple of years! As my next freewheel I'm probably gonna try one with less engagement points as I believe in the theory Mark has explained.
  5. You notice the copy once you compare it to the original. You can already see that the Topmax have a different axle as it's not as shiny and neat as the one the Wellgos have. Some people might have made good experiences with copies but I wouldn't recommend them. Especially not considering that the Wellgos usually only cost 10€ more.
  6. I suppose that they WERE Wellgos then. The Topmax are just a cheap copy and I wouldn't recommend them for trials riding. My axle broke under no pressure whatsoever. Just imaging what could happen riding trials.
  7. I guess when you are a very explosive type of rider doing a lot of squats and stuff, weight comes in handy as it's strength. Would be interesting to see guys like him with a perfect side hop technique...
  8. Which I wouldn't suggest. I got the Wellgo MG1 copy of Topmax or sth. like this. They weigh more and the axle seems to be made of a different metal. I used the pedals three times on my trials bike and lost two pins (lost 1 pin on my Wellgos after 1 1/2 years). Then I put them on my commuter and the axle broke after another three days.
  9. Never thought about this. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks. What about weight of the rider. I think losing some weight has much more of an effect than tuning your bike. What do you guys think?
  10. Just wondering. How much would a world class rider notice the difference in weight on a trials bike? I was thinking about weight differences like for example Der Kaiser Rammstein vs. Try All Sticky Light or front disc vs. front hs33 setup. Taking these two together you'd get around 400gr. less with the lighter options. How much would it matter?
  11. I've got the ones for the HS33. They feel very nice. The Tech 3 doesn't need a replacement by Trialtech as it is already a very good lever.
  12. Aren't the pads just relabeled Jitsie pads? Clean do have them as well... Jitsie pads for BB7 would certainly be awesome.
  13. From what I've seen in videos, most of the 26'' riders lift the front wheel already with the lazy foot quite a bit.
  14. Which is more for 20'' riders than 26'' but it still helps...
  15. If you brake the outer sprocket (or however it's called) then it doesn't matter how many pawls it has.

Just get Sapim Polyax nipples and you've got the same thing.
  17. Thanks guys... I'll try it out and see how I will end up even though I already know that I'm gonna stay 26''.
  18. The thing is that I am fairly sure that I prefer a stock bike. I went from a short Because, to a slightly longer Echo to a long echo 24'' just to find out that 26'' is the thing for me. Still, after having ridden the 26'' for quite a while now, not having changed the Setup, I'm actually curious as to how a 24'' rides in comparison.
  19. I was actually referring to two TRIALS bikes.
  20. So I've got my GU 26'' and really like it. Now I'm thinking of building up my 24'' Echo since I only need stem and handlebar (was actually gonna sell it in parts). Now I'm wondering whether you actually use your bikes equally if they have a different geometry/wheel size. I made a lot of progress since I stayed with my current setup and don't know whether riding two bikes is actually counterproductive. What do you think?
  21. Just wondering... You have enough power for two trials riders. How is your riding on technical sections (balance, tight obstacles etc.) that don't require that much power but balance?
  22. When will those rear rims be available? What's the weight? Should be around 8kg.

    Don't retire! You need a 29er though.
