    Pro-mo Promo

If I was a secondary school teacher there is no way in hell I'd tell anyone I was gay! Kudos to the ones that do though, must be so much harder for them.
  2. I have just got so used to using a browser with mouse gestures (I.e. Firefox) that I really hate using IE. Apart from that, there's the whole security thing, and it's faster etc etc. No real reason in favour of IE to be honest. Oh, and Firefox 2.0 is out today. Get it while it's hot (and downloads are slow).

    Injury Advice

I'm sure you posted that a while ago? Either that or I'm having severe deja vu! Can I just ask how you would distinguish (clinically) between the different grades of sprains that you mentioned?
  4. I thought they had merged them now? Or at least stopped development of Mozilla?

    Router Question

The two things that can make a difference is which way the aerials are pointing, and if there's anything in between. Or the weather, probably. These things are a bit temperamental! But try fiddling the aerials
  6. What if you've got an optic up in your living room?
  7. I got bored of spending hours and hours in TK maxx trying to find a pair of jeans that fit. So if I'm feeling rich I'll go and buy some Levis or something. Good jeans are worth paying for in my opinion. But at the moment I'm wearing some from Next and they're pretty nice actually - Good fit and look decent, plus not too expensive.
  8. Don't know exactly, sorry. Although I had my shoulder pinned and the blood centre only wanted to know about how much blood I'd lost during the op (not a lot in my case because it was fairly minor), didn't ask about pins. They weren't big pins though.
  9. Haha, well that does count as something severely wrong then. What an idiot!

    New Pc

Pentium 4s are pretty old these days, not sure if you can still get them (probably not). That Pentium D is newer and will be better (it's dual core), although I have no idea how that compares to anything else available at the moment.
  11. I'm on the register with the Anthony Nolan Trust. They take a blood test and then they do some tests on it and store your tissue type on the list, and if anyone needs some marrow, they look up the closest match. If that's you then you have to go to a place in London (apparently) to give the marrow - All expenses paid, hotel etc. But it's quite rare to be called up I think. There are two ways that you can give marrow and unfortunately you don't get to choose - it all depends on what the consultant in charge wants. The old way is like what's in that picture - A big needle into your hip bone. Under local anaesthetic so it doesn't hurt that much at the time. Apparently after a few days it feels like you got hit by a car or something - A huge big bruise and very tender to the touch. The other way is more modern and I think more common now. It sounds much more friendly - they hook you up to a machine that takes your blood and 'harvests' the cells it needs. It's kinda like a dialysis machine - your blood goes in one end and then goes through the machine and comes out the other side and back into you. And I think you just sit there for about 6 hours reading or watching TV or something. So much less painful, the only side effects are feeling a bit tired for the next week. To be honest, it's pretty scary to think about, but it's a small price to pay for saving a kid's life.
  12. If it's squeaking a lot, it could be that you've got some oil on the disc, but it sounds like it's probably just the weather. If it's still as powerful as it should be, just leave it alone.
  13. The Middleburns are indeed great cranks, probably the best cranks for trials, but the Tensiles are pretty close. I don't really think there's any need to spend the money on changing cranks unless there's something severely wrong with the Tensiles.
  14. Sounds very much like 'chain suck' - which you can get from using a new chain with an old chainring. You could buy a new front chainring which will almost certainly stop it, or just see if it settles down a bit as the chain wears in. Yes, you can just use a chain tool. As long as you join it properly it'll be much stronger than a powerlink in a SRAM chain. But I though the Kool chains came with a little BMX split link? Maybe that's just the BMX (wide) ones. Like this:

    Calluses

Yeah, they don't hurt very much though, just look a bit daft. You get them in a different place though - much more on your fingers with climbing.

    Help!

Yeah, do that. VLC is great
  17. Have you got some other wheels built by professional wheel builders that you can compare? I would say you want to go pretty tight with a normal finger spoke key, but don't go nuts. As long as the tension is even on both sides (just about) and around the wheel, don't worry too much.
  18. Yeah, I was joking of course. The Hope bitching discussion can go in the other topic.

    Kenny

Or how about "There's more to trials than sidehops and gaps"
  20. They can go pretty tight, but it's more of a case of keeping the wheel straight. As long as it's tight-ish then then wheel isn't going to fall apart*. *Unless you have a Pro II in which case it's best to do the nipples up finger tight and hope for the best. Or so I heard.
  21. You should get a grammatical error on you and see if anyone's cool enough to tell you it's wrong

    Calluses

I think the thing about biting your hands is that it only works if you've had calluses for a long time. If they're new then the skin is soft and it's just growing a bit harder to protect itself, and you don't want to be cutting them off or anything. But if you've had them for ages (months, years) then they just grow and grow, and then they crack and look funny (a bit yellow). They don't hurt though. And I have a bad habit of biting the tops off them. But if you've just started riding and you've got painful calluses, I wouldn't go cutting them or biting them, or even soaking them. You want them to grow, and then it'll stop being so painful.
  23. Exactly. And I don't know of many (any?) other hubs that snap so catastrophically. Yes, we all love Hope here, but that doesn't mean that the sun shines out of their arse and they're completely infallible. There is no way that you can blame anyone but Hope for this sort of thing happening.
