    180's

I can do 180's easy, but I'm way off 360's. I think it would be a different technique. If you haven't already practised rolling backwards and turning out of that, practise that first. Just do an endo, roll back and turn the bars so you're going the right way. You need to learn that in the same direction as you're going to spin, so you can do a 180-land-spin out = 360. Basically all I do is: 1) Carve into the turn so you're turning already 2) Jump around from two wheels, don't bother with "American" bunny hops, just jump and twist from the hips as Rich said 3) Make sure when you land, you turn the bars (If you're spinning to the left, turn the bars to the right as you land) so that you'll roll out of it nicely And a few extra tips: Hard tyres help loads. If you get a bit of tyre foldage on landing it'll send you way off. Go faster - you're much more likely to roll out of it nicely if you're going faster. Good luck
  2. Has anyone been on a bus or a train when some twat comes on and starts listening to music on their phone's loud speaker? I would love something to turn that down. Wankers.
  3. Phew I thought I was the only one... Yeah, that's how Americans pronouce it. Stupid Yanks.
  4. I know you can get some snowboarding arse protection for kids, but not sure if you can get anything for people that weeny. Might be worth looking in a snowboarding place?

    Help Needed

If it's really not getting enough power from the computer, which seems like it might be the case, you could get a powered USB hub and that would help. I would try one to see if it helps before splashing out on one though. The other thing is that you might say that the laptop was faulty if the USB ports didn't work properly.

    Help Needed

It may well be the power thing then, but it's pretty crap that a laptop can't supply enough juice. Is there anything else plugged in that will drain the laptop battery? And is the laptop plugged in at the wall?

    Help Needed

Does the MP3 player have separate power/USB sockets? If so, keep it plugged into the mains whilst plugged in via USB. If that doesn't help, then it's probably nothing that a powered hub will help. What kind of MP3 player is it? A big hard drive one (like an iPod video or similar) or a small flash-based one (like an iPod shuffle)?
  8. Completely different. In terms of stock (ish) frames, you couldn't really get any more different. It's a totally different kettle of fish, and I would definitely say you need to ride one until you decide you fancy a change so drastic.

    Xbox 360

Whilst that Wii controller looks pretty cool, I really can't see myself using it seriously at all. I just can't imagine sitting (or standing I guess) in my front room waving something around in the name of computer games.
  10. Wow, that's really old then I'll change it now.

  12. Hmmm, I thought those pedals looked really nice. Obviously I ain't gonna buy em, they're way too heavy and expensive (in order of importance ) but I think they look nice.

    Avid Bb7

They are amazing. I used an XTR lever with bog-standard cable and I had no problems at all. Posh cables are for tarts I reckon They don't really make any difference to the power of the brake, they just make it feel a bit nicer to pull.
  14. I find other people's bikes really weird to ride, I can never do anything bigger than a few inches. Just feels weird. And mods and long stocks just feel totally wrong to me. I'm sure I'd adapt given half an hour or so, but why bother?
  15. That is quite a short bike, but I get on with my Ashton (1025) just fine and I'm fairly tall. It's more to do with what you want to do with it. If you want to learn bigger gaps and taps etc then a longer bike will undoubtedly help. It might be worth looking at a different frame perhaps? Maybe an Onza Zoot, they're a bit longer but you wouldn't have to change too many other bits on your bike (if any). Let me know if you're selling that frame anyway But of course a longer stem is a good first thing to try
  16. Dunno about the 550 but the 810 doesn't
  17. Another fact of the day at the same time tomorrow...
  18. I got a free phone a while back + half price line rental (£12.50/month = £150/year). I put the phone on eBay and got £200 for it, so essentially I got free line rental for the year + £50. If you're disciplined enough to only use the free minutes, that sort of thing would be great. They all do something for students, take a look at their individual websites.

How are you supposed to pronounce that? Wee? Why? Whi (as in whip without the p)? Why-Aye? Stupid, stupid name. Looks pretty cool though.
  20. O2 suck. Mainly just because the customer service is terrible. So I switched the other way to prawn, to Orange. I'm paying £19 for 500 texts and 50 anytime/network minutes, it's a student deal (you need an NUS number). The only time I've noticed any difference in signal, the Orange is slightly better, but not by a significant amount around here, everything is fine coverage in Manchester so it's not an issue. No complaints so far, apart from the stupid software that Orange load onto the phone that makes it look a bit crap. I would get it debranded but I'm not really that fussed. And Orange customer services is 10 times what O2 is...
  21. Hey Mine is still in one piece. And it's lovely

    New Phone Time

The battery in my phone is good, same as Danny's. Lasts about 4-5 days, and that's using it a fair amount, and for a bit of radio and games. But mobile phone batteries can be really variable. I had 4 different Nokia 3220 (1 stolen, one lost, one broke since you asked) and they all had really different battery lives. The first one lasted at least a week on one charge, but then the last one lasted a day at best. So maybe you (Synergy) just got a bad one?
  23. Osgood-Schlatter disease it's called. It's inflammation of where you quad muscles in your thigh meet your shin (tibia), where the bone is actively growing (Bones only grow near the ends). Happens in a random group of people in their teens, mainly athletic types. And yeah, as soon as your bones stop growing, it stops I believe. I did a project on knee injuries a while ago. Shez - I have no idea what's up with you, but the body is weird like that. Like when you land on your bollocks, it doesn't actually hurt that much, but it makes you feel really sick and funny inside. Very hard to explain to a girl, and I guess it's just one of those weird things. So maybe you have a funny response to banging your knee or something? I've never had any problems when I've hit my knees, just it's f**king painful!

    New Phone Time

I've got a Sony Ericsson w810i and it's pretty nice. Does all that crap you mentioned and the battery lasts ages. Only problem is that it's not a flip phone, I guess. Oh, and I think it's only USB 1.1, but it does come with a cable at least.
  25. Can't you get one of those kits to replace the battery? LikeTHIS.
