I'd be very surprised if most cars could get up a 1:3. Unless it's some farm track or something, I don't believe you

Jeez that line at the end (last clip) was pretty hardcore! Anyway, some huge riding going down as per usual. Good video

Having seen KarsonLevoret's one, I have an idea. Something somewhere where I will see it a lot, no-one else will, saying something along the lines of "go do something fun" but in a more succinct way. I am such a loser for sitting around whiling my life away on TF or whatever, I need to do more things with my life. Plus it's kinda like Memento (the film) if anyone's seen that. My memory is a bit like that, haha

Yeah it's up one, across six. Who remembers their tan=opp/adj? You could easily work out the angle but it's not really important. It's pretty steep. You start getting warning signs telling you you're going down a 1 in 10. Comme ça

Yes. I was going to say everything you've said already in this thread, but you keep getting there first Fish breathe air (well, oxygen I suppose) that is dissolved in the water. Not from the water molecules breaking up. Whether or not the gas content of water has anything to do with the compressibility I don't know, but water is more compressible than other liquids. Although I had another thought. Maybe in maguras the difference is that water is runnier so it's harder to get a good bleed and you end up with more air in your brake anyway... Whatever, like I said before, there's really no substitute for practical experience. There are far too many variables for anyone to come up with a definitive answer so we could probably leave it. Water works OK Mineral oil works OK Vegetable oil works OK Wayne says Diesel is OK DOT oil is BAD (for seals, apparently)

Spanner in the works: 1) Ashton ET 24 2) My old Leeson Fluid 609 3) Planet-X Zebdi They're the only 3 frames I think I would ride at the moment, although I haven't tried the UK24 yet, and that inspired frame might be ok if it ever sees the light of day

Yeah, precisely. I am a bit skeptical about doing 62mph whilst slipstreaming etc, but duane seems to know what he is talking about, and obviously has some road racing experience. Also let's not forget that a 1:6 hill is f**king steep. It's claims like this that I really, really don't believe:

I hate Welsh people, they type like retards.

Yeah, I took mine out and there's a little mark. My girlfriend didn't notice it until I pointed it out, so it can't be very obvious, but I notice it. I want to get my labret done again, I miss having it to play with and I think it looks good. Seeing as we were a bit off topic anyway... To me, tattoos and big tunnels are a totally different ball park to piercings as they aren't removeable. You sometimes see tramps with funny-shaped ears because they've stretched them and taken it out and it looks terrible. Plus it's on your ear so it's not like you can hide it! Tattoos - I know they're for life and would go out of fashion, but if there was one that I really liked, I would go for it. This time in my life (and the next few years hopefully) are important and I would get a tat if I could find something that meant something to me (and if I liked it too). After I'm 30 or so I really won't care what I look like, so it won't matter. But nothing tickles my fancy at all, so I probably won't bother. But stretching ears so that they won't go back is a bit dumb in my book

Yeah but we all know that you can't just translate from US dollars into pounds, E.g. Chris King hubs are much cheaper over in the states. The UK price for the PS3 is probably going to be £425. And apparently the cheaper version won't be released over here. Or so I heard.

Anyone that reckons they can do over 40mph on a any bike, on the flat, not wind-assisted or being pulled, is doing very well. Or lying. On my road bike, the faster I've managed is 29mph on the flat, and that was f**king hard work. To go 11mph faster is a bit stupid really, and I very much doubt that anyone here has done it without being on a slight downhill or with the wind etc. 40mph is very fast anyway, I've done (just under) that going down a big hill and there's no way I'd want to be pedalling hard, you wobble too much. So in conclusion: Bollocks.

It probably depends on all sorts, especially temperature. I have it in my head that water is more compressible than other liquids, but I'm not quite sure where I got that from. That quote I posted seems to back me up. I don't think it matters about the small volume of liquid that is used in Maguras, because you could think of the compression as a percentage of the total volume, which would be constant in any system (At a given temperature blah blah). If you used twice as much liquid, you would compress it twice as much, if you get me? Having said all that, there's no substitute for practical experience. The "feel" of a brake is more relevant in trials than in a car's brake, for example, and there are probably many things I didn't consider in the minute I took writing that post ( ). I guess you should consider stuff like viscosity. What water lacks in compressibility, it makes up for in being very very runny. I find magura fluid to be the best, but that's not to say that's "the answer"

Then how do iPods work? Or walkmans (Walkmen?) or minidisk players... Bear in mind that Apple and Sony are pretty much the two leaders in hating piracy.

21. But I was a techno-geek from an early age you see

I have to say I agree with Wayne. From a practical point of view, whenever I've used water in my brakes, it's gone a bit funny after a few weeks, lever not returning. But also it does feel spongier when the pads hit the rim. Also, from a science point of view: So there you have it. Proof that maggie fluid is best

Yeah, it'll be fine unless you're on about 20mm axle front hubs for DH or anything daft like that. No idea if they're any good though.
-
Yeah, especially considering 1) It's not like he's only done one "design", so it wouldn't have cost any different to make an 04 one surely? He's obviously got a couple of moulds (or computer thingies) 2) More people run 04 levers at the moment I'm sure I think all this stuff is stupid. None of it is really any more functional than the stock items they replace, it's just overpriced tat that looks a bit silly IMO. Ah well.

Yeah but he was only the drummer for f**k's sake. Where is Kris Novoselic? Dominating the world with his music? No. Nirvana was Cobain and no one else. So why should Dave Grohl be talented? No one expected him to have talent but now thousands of people like his music. He must be doing something right. Jeez.
-
So... Stupid question, but I have no idea about this stuff. When you buy a CD (for example), do you own the copyright? I guess not.
-
I might have to check that out then. Because that is all I use Bittorrent for.
-
That was cool. It ended too soon, though. Thank you. I'm still undecided on widescreen, it looks a bit weird on my computer.

Hmmm, I don't think Limewire on the mac has any spyware anyway... For some things (E.g. Single MP3's), Limewire is way better. I also get much faster transfer speeds most of the time with Limewire (up to 200kbps!). But I agree, torrents are probably more useful. But hey, a guy can use both, can't he?

I want to do this with my ET 24. It's already got the short stem and narrow bars, but I think it could probably do with some forks (as well as a bigger gear obviously) to be a lovely jump bike

Bike Stolen-not Insured. Where Do I Stand On House Insurance?
Tomm replied to Prawny Baby's topic in Trials Chat
That's good news. Greater Manchester Police couldn't care less about my stolen bikes. Despite the fact that I saw my BMX being ridden into a house nearby, they couldn't be arsed to even go around there to ask. On the other hand, the insurance paid out fully which was nice. I still feel pretty raw about losing that lovely Leeson. You'll have to check with your insurance company what's covered and what's not, and hope they're nice. Good luck anyway, at least the police are helping -
What's the difference between Limewire and Limewire Pro? I've got the normal version and it'd probably be worth getting Pro just to stop it bugging me about upgrading
