  1. It just happened to me about 10 minutes ago, but it's working fine now. PS What Olly C suggested works fine, but it's waaaay too much of a pain in the arse to do every page. P.S. - I'm on NTL
  2. There was some past topic about it. Tom said it was something to do with the DNS server and should sort itself out, but it still does it for me fairly often.
  3. you have to attach the image to the post rather than uploading it to your own webspace - there's a button under the reply box. Or if you use Imageshack, I believe they have some thumbnail functions too
  4. I haven't really improved in lots of things in the last 2 years. I'm not getting out as much as I was, but that's not really an excuse. My problem is that I seem to pick up new techniques fairly easily (learnt the trials basics in a very short time) and then however hard I try I can't improve on them. So whilst I've learnt loads more things in the the last 2 years, I haven't improved my gap distance or backwheel height at all. But it's cool, I like learning new stuff and I still enjoy riding, which is 100% the only important thing
  5. It's just some random OS X-style background which I'm sure won't take much finding. Then object dock which you can also google. The start menu has just been minimised or hidden. The clock is part of Konfabulator (Now called Yahoo Widgets Engine I believe) and I presume the other widgets are. For true OS X steez, you need to arrange all the icons to the right hand side. Funnily enough I had almost exactly the same setup as that (right down to the same clock). But with Windows, the lack of the start bar was really, really annoying for me. Anyway, now I have the real deal
  6. Yeah, perhaps Mac users are just more intelligent and don't click on stupid links in emails that are obviously viruses Whether Macs are "immune" or not (I'm pretty sure they're not), there's no denying that they are much much safer than PCs. Also, there are software updates really frequently (Every week or so), so any holes get patched way quicker than they do with MS (2 service packs in 5 years?). Having said that, I've never been scared of my PC getting a virus, because I have up-to-date AVG and some common sense. Secure startup sounds like a load of bollocks. If a virus can get through the OS and install itself, I'm sure some people will find a way to find a hole in this "secure startup" thing. Microsoft will always be a target...

The Individual T-shirt designs are cool though. Worth paying for if you ask me. I really liked mine until the picture peeled off Sort that problem out and I'll buy another.
  8. You only NEED 30 or so processes (sometimes less) for Windows XP to run. 54 is way too many, so if you sort that out then you should see some speed increases.
  9. In a way, OS X is like Linux. It "feels" more like it in the (very limited) experience I have. But in some ways it's totally different. For example I spent hours googling and editing .conf files to get my mouse to work with MandrakeLinux, but with a Mac you just have to plug it in. You might say it's the best of both worlds
  10. Tabs in an internet browser aren't much different to tabs in, say, Control Panel > System, which have been around for ages. Yes, Microsoft have been slow to adopt them in IE, but the Firefox people certainly didn't invent them. As for security on Macs, what Tom said about the self-respecting geeks is partially right. Also, Macs take up about 5% of the market, and Windows is a much bigger target with 94% or whatever. BUT I'm pretty sure Macs are safer and harder to write viruses for. If you ever use OS X, you can tell it's more security-orientated (to the point of being annoying sometimes). Like when you install programs and you have to give an admin password. There's been a Mac virus and the only way it worked is by the user opening coolpics.jpeg.tgz and then opening an executable AND then typing an admin password. And if you're that stupid then you probably deserve a virus Anyway, it's late and this Mac Vs PC argument is as futile as telling Wayne that Hope Pro II hubs sometimes skip

Surely having a UV light to hand would be simpler
  12. Kind of, but it certainly doesn't double the speed. It basically means the computer has two "logical" CPUs (although only one physical CPU), so the operating system can send two commands at a time to the CPU. So basically there are two queues (of data) for the CPU, so things move a bit faster when the CPU gets a bit of free time. It's supposed to be something like 25% faster than non-HT CPUs in some programs, and no difference in others. People have said that it "smooths out" windows a bit and makes multitasking a bit more friendly. I think
  13. The Hopes haven't been out long enough to really know if they're strong enough. Once they've proved themselves over a year or two then I'd say they're better value than Kings. Quite a few people have had troubles though. Any rachet-based hub that skips at all is bad news really, every time they skip they lose a bit of metal, which is why I'm not expecting amazing life-spans from the new Hopes. My experience with Kings has been very good though, so perhaps I'm biased. Whenever mine (King) has skipped (which is rare) it's only been one engagement - I.e. you hear it but it makes no real difference to where your pedals are.
  14. Yeah, basically. I think it's also for up-and-coming things like pay-per-view films and things like that. Which I guess is a good idea, so I'm not going to turn my nose up at that. I think Vista will be worth paying for, though. It's really nice to have software updates and everything else working well. Considering how much you use your computer, £90 (or however much it'll cost) is not THAT much to pay.

Pretty cool for people that spend all their free time in clubs, but for everyone else (I.e. Normal people) they're a bit pointless, surely?
  16. The average junkie apparently uses 0.25-2g per day (don't ask why I know that ). 0.25g is still 250mg, so way more than the 25mg you're allowed. Although I don't know if this means pure heroin - I imagine the 2g that junkies use is not pure... Meh, I'm not sure this is something I need to worry about.
  17. Some of those amounts are really stupid - 25mg of Heroin is surely too small an amount to even measure? Most junkies wouldn't even feel that... Whereas 1kg of Peyote is a shedload?
  18. I haven't been able to get on here all day until now, I assumed everyone was having the same problems...
  19. Only if you want to play protected videos. VGA output will work fine for everything else. And if the Beta of Vista is rubbish, then finished version obviously will be
  20. That Zoot looks really nice, but what does it really ride like? Super spinny Ashton-esque 24 or a small long stock?
  21. I'm not really up on prices at the moment, but I do know that you'll have trouble playing any games on that machine. Maybe Counter-Strike 1.6 at a push. Of course you can always buy a graphics card at a later date. The motherboard you've got there isn't particularly good, although it'll probably do the trick. No-name RAM is also probably a bad idea - it's worth paying the extra couple of quid and getting crucial/corsair/OCZ value stuff. Also an 80Gb hard drive is really small and at today's prices I wouldn't go smaller than 300Gb. Although as with the graphics card I guess you could always buy another hard drive when you fill this one up (80Gb goes VERY quickly). You could probably also do with a PSU better than 350W. It'll probably run that setup you have listed, but as soon as you try and put in a decent graphics card and/or an extra hard drive, it'll break down and cry.
  22. 5oz isn't THAT light though really. 16 ounces in a pound and 5oz = 145g. Most mini seats are probably lighter than that. Looks cool though
  23. I don't really understand much of that, so what's the solution for eBuyer?
  24. Haha, do you think Koxx will see past the lost revenue and be flattered? Looks good, people who are moaning are stupid. More choice is a great thing, whether you personally like it or not. Especially when this basically gives XTPs (renowned for being really nice bikes) to normal people who would otherwise never be able to afford them. Oh well.
  25. It's working here (NTL)
