  2. Apparently iOS4 has already been jailbroken?
  3. I saw a cool van on the motorway that was something like R9 BMX and it was stickered up with BMX stuff. Looked pretty cool and that got me thinking. If I had an Orange 222, I would totally buy this: S222 MTB for £189. Saw a Type R the other day with T7PE R. Must be worth more than the car! Of course for that pimp among us, there's always T21 ALS.
  4. And here it is: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/07/steve-jobs-live-from-wwdc-2010/
  5. That's pretty impressive, or stupid, or somewhere in between. Nice one
  6. You don't need an app, iplayer works just fine via the iphone-modified website. Obviously you need good signal though - Wifi or 3G at least. TVCatchup is great too - you can basically watch all the freeview channels live. It's a shame that SeeSaw doesn't work though. For what it's worth, my (cellular) data usage is 74mb sent / 290mb received in just over 2 months. I think you'll be surprised how little data you use compared to home broadband to be honest. I don't stream much over 3g though - that would change the figures significantly.
  7. That's true if you're breathing compressed air. If you breathe air under pressure at depth, as you come up that air will expand to several times the volume and can damage your lungs/ rib cage etc. However if you're breathing surface air then it compresses as you go down and then expands as you go up - but it can never expand more than its initially volume. I'm still confused by the weight thing. It's quite hard to simply sink in a swimming pool - plus the sea is saltier so easier to float in, and wearing a wetsuit usually acts as bouyancy. I doubt he could sink that fast with only 1-2 kg?
  8. Yep, I'm looking forward to an upgrade from the 3G too. Want something faster (battery life is ok for me).
  9. That weight on his back wasn't much though, 1-2kg at most. You don't need to worry about decompression if you're breathing air/oxygen you inhaled at the surface. Perhaps that's a giveaway - in the final bit where he comes up for air, he's breathing out all the way up. You wouldn't need to do that unless you were breathing from a tank.
  10. I have been reliably informed that the likelihood of a genuine appendicitis spontaneously resolving is around the 0.001% mark. It seems like there's quite a lot of the 0.001% on this forum EDIT: My consultant is lying. The internet suggests 1 in 13. Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that this is what's happened in both the cases here.
  11. It's f**king shit, but let it go. My Leeson got stolen and I spent about 4 years of my life trying to find it, not to mention the months searching forums and ebay etc. My bike is long gone, probably to some scally twat that can't understand why it's not as fast as his mate's BMX.
  12. On the subject of selling iPhones, it would seem like now would be the best time to sell - they're bringing out a new one supposedly in 2 weeks so the prices on the old ones will drop.
  13. Windows XP rocks my 6 year old computer. Buy me a new computer and I'll use Windows 7, I promise.
  14. If you want to just leave the car by the side of the road, to the East side of Upper Brook St is a load of houses. It's not the nicest part of Manchester but not the worst either, and I've dumped my car there before. And then it'll be a short stroll (1/2 mile) to where you're going.
  15. It should be alright - they're not the most "trialsy" frames out there anyway. I think the main problem will be the BB height which will be higher than on most jump bikes. As long as you don't put massive forks on, it should be OK. Raise the front end with some bars with decent rise if it's feeling low (I.e. you'll want to raise the bars without affecting the BB height). Oh, and I'm pretty sure it'll snap if you actually use it for a long time as a jump bike
  16. How long ago was this? Appendicitis very rarely is self-limiting, and there are plenty of far more likely explanations for an abdo pain that disappears. 50% of hospital admissions with acute abdo pain leave without a diagnosis, and don't get told that they "sort-of" had appendicitis.
  17. Are you sure? Sounds like you just had some abdominal pain that went away by itself? Appendicitis tends not to do that...
  18. Bad news first: No one can diagnose you over the internet. You should go and see your doctor to make sure it's nothing serious - as plenty of people have pointed out, appendicitis has the potential to be fatal, and there are several other serious things that can cause siimlar belly pain. Good news: It doesn't really sound like appendicitis unless it's in quite an early stage, so I wouldn't worry unduly. That's not to say don't go to your GP - of course you should. I would have thought getting stuck in hospital and unable to do an exam could be a good thing? They usually extrapolate your marks from earlier results, don't they?
  19. I was going to warn against the dangers of getting a fully rigid (and then proceeding to the next step, single speed) and turning into Brant Richards, but then I saw your signature. I suppose if you don't live near any rocks or anything it would be OK to have rigid forks, I certainly wouldn't bother though. Nukeproof is such a lame name for a brand, but other than that they make decent stuff for not much money, so I'm sure the forks are decent enough.
  20. Some of those old transporters have not very much power (like 60 bhp) so I'm not surprised it can't go up hills in 5th. All this talk about turbos is missing the point a bit - You just need to change gear, and accept that you're driving an underpowered van up a hill, and it's not going to be that fast.

    Downhill Tyres

None of the individual places are that extensive - Les Gets has 2-3 decent tracks, same with Morzine. Avoriaz has a few more, and there's plenty of really cool stuff over in Chatel / Champery. The ideal place to stay IMHO is Avoriaz (sort of in the middle) and then you have fairly good access to everything. There's definitely a lot to do if you go over into the different valleys, but yeah limiting yourself to Les Gets would be pretty boring after 1-2 days.

Interesting. I think I'm going there on the 17th, not set in stone yet though.
  23. Of course you could ride a bike with that much travel, but you really don't want to... Boxxers on a zero sounds horrible I don't really believe that the post-2007 Marzocchi are all rubbish. There were just a lot more stories of failures but I wouldn't necessarily worry about that. Those 07 Z1 "sport" forks are pretty low rent though, they look like OEM only and have crap damping. In fact, they look incredibly similar to my 07 OEM bomber "all mountain 4s" which were shite - sticky, poorly-damped and heavy. I would avoid if I were you.
  24. Should be able to get a second hand pair of totems for £350. Domains are like the poor man's Totems really - they're OK but seem a bit variable. 66s are good pre 2007, variable QC after that. Heavy but buttery smooth. 36s are nice if you afford them and are happy servicing them every so often. I feel like I should point out that putting massive forks on that frame will make the thing handle really badly I'd definitely go for something smaller travel - Apart from the weight, Marzocchi Z1 FR from a few years ago are pretty unbeatable. Or Pikes.
