  1. You should be able to recover it. Most ipods have a recovery mode which you get by holding down various buttons. I'm not going to google it for you

    Black Ops

I've been playing Modern Warfare 2 for ages, and COD4 before that. I "missed" COD5, the other Treyarch game so perhaps the shooting is more similar to that one. I've got better since my last post. I now have more kills than deaths

    Black Ops

I did exactly the same. It's pretty fun, but better than MW2? I'm not sure. Playing online seems a bit wooly and not as gritty and visceral as MW2. The guns sound weak and pathetic, and grenades go pop rather than boom. Overall, it's just not as satisfying to get kills. Maybe it'll grow on me. P.S. Why the hell am I getting pwned. I've had this game a couple of hours, the people I'm playing against can't have THAT much more experience?!

    Net Books

I wouldn't get a netbook for what you want. For photo editing and particularly HD video you mentioned, no netbook is really powerful enough. I find them horrible to use, too - rubbish keyboard, rubbish, cheap, trackpad and small screen. They are cheap and lovely and small, though. So it's up to you. I had a brief look at them a few weeks ago and concluded that the Samsungs were probably the most solid-looking and had the best keyboards. But still rubbish IMO. I want a Macbook Air... Best of every world (quality, tiny size but useable screen and keyboard, actually pretty quick). Shame about the price!
  5. Done. They're two different words. Riding Ridding
  6. Yeah but that happened with hundreds of pads, it was a massive known problem and they were dishing out hundreds of sets of replacement pads. It's the least you can expect really...
  7. Lies?! On the Trials-Forum? I think not...[/brian Blessed voice]
  8. My favourite threads are the ones where people say what they're getting for Christmas. Person one: Gets PS4 and 50" TV, plus a new Ferrari 360 or something. Person two: Harps on about how all they got was a a new piece of string so they could finally stop their shoes from falling off.

Nah it won't be on Installous. YGPM
  10. Looking good, that amp looks good quality. It might be worth adding a line-input as well (3.5mm jack) so when someone else comes in your car, they can play their tunes (if they don't have Bluetooth).

I think there are better tethering options (mifi?) but HandyLight works well for me and is (genuinely) free. Don't think it's limited to Firefox, I got it to work with Safari on my mac by changing the network proxy settings (again there's a youtube tutorial for this). My current new favourite iphone is SBSettings, with Springfash settings added. It basically lets you turn on the camera flash at any time, from any app or the lockscreen, for an almost instant torch
  12. Horrible colour IMO but very nice-looking bike
  13. Yeah but the point of sealskin stuff is that it's waterproof and breathable...
  14. I've got some of those, although mine look slightly different so perhaps they've changed the design. So, taken with a pinch of salt, I don't think I'd rate them. Firstly the padding on the palm is way too thick - not such a problem for commuting I guess but still annoying. Secondly, and infuriatingly, the inner liner is only connected with the outer glove at the cuff. If you take them off in a hurry, the inner liner will turn inside-out and it's near-impossible to get back in the right position. Grrr.

Oh I see. I don't know if you can do that. Well, I don't know if anyone's written the code to allow you to do that, anyway.

You can pay for tethering (I think via USB cable) through the phone company. Alternatively there are jailbreak apps that allow you to bridge the 3g connection via wifi (phone essentially acts as a wireless router). Does your laptop not have wifi?!
  17. There's a Leisure Lakes near me and they want £120 + parts for a full service of a full-sus bike. That seems like a hell of a lot to me, but when you think of the labour times involved with a skilled mechanic and a workshop, it's not too bad, particularly if you don't have any knowledge at all. Compare it to a car workshop - they'd charge that much for something like an exhaust and that almost certainly takes less time than a bike.
  18. I have ridden in the Quantocks, yeah. It's pretty similar to the peak district where I ride in terms of the grit and yes, I agree that it is harsh. But you've missed my point - if you can't keep something like a standard seatpost from seizing then I don't think a gravity-dropper type thing will help.
  19. 100% of it. At first I did my own work because I couldn't afford to give my money to bike shops. Now I just do the fiddling because it's quite therapeutic sometimes. My car just goes to the garage though - I wouldn't ever dream of fiddling with the important bits of that!

TV catchup is impressive, but I've never actually found a use for it. If I'm at home (on Wifi), it's more comfortable to watch TV on something else. My favourite app is also a radio app called TuneIn Radio. It's not just BBC radio streams (not sure if yours is?) and it's brilliantly integrated (uses iPod controls/remote control etc). There are two things I use jailbreak for; one is Lockinfo which is brilliant little tool that puts your calendar/diary/new messages/weather onto the home screen. I use it mainly for the diary function, wouldn't want to live without it now. The other is a little program called HandyLight which Apple originally had as a free app in the app store. It's one of those flashlight apps but it has a twist - if you press the exact right combination of buttons it lets you tether your phone via wifi. As soon as Apple realised this they withdrew the app, and now you can only get it via jailbreak.
  21. If your QR is seized, it means you've not looked after it or don't use it often enough. If you look after your bike and keep everything greased, this doesn't happen. I doubt one of these posts will help because they'll presumably seize just as easily.
  22. That looks nice, Ali. I'm coming round to Orange Fives more and more - I never used to like them at all but that one (especially in green) looks sweet. What size is it? Looks small?
  23. Ha, that one where he nearly falls off a cliff is terrifying!
