I'm sure if you described it accurately, more people would have something nice to say. As it is, most people came in here expecting to see some Danny Mac, and they're disappointed. You should probably edit the title... On the other hand, them's some pretty sick wheelie skills.

People will beat you if you do that to their dirt jumps...

I've got a 5 year old 30Gb which is still going strong! I guess it has a relatively easy life though - it lives in my car and doesn't get chucked in bags / pockets etc. Fingers crossed it doesn't die now I've said that...

That picture is of a 5th gen iPod aka iPod Video. That hard drive I linked to was for this model, although you would need to buy the correct number of gigabytes. To work out exactly what model it is: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1353 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipod#Models P.S. It sounds to me very much like the hard drive, but it would be worth finding out for definite before you splash out on a disk for it.
-
What model iPod is it? I.e. does it have a hard disk (iPod classic / mini). If so it sounds like the hard disk may well be knackered. If a complete format / restore doesn't work then I'd wager you're out of options. A new hard drive isn't prohibitively expensive though, as long as you're willing to try and fit it yourself.

I think it stays the same until the end of September, then they switch to the 500mb data cap. I think this applies to all contract renewals - soon no one will be able to escape the data quota I think you should be able to stay on the same plan though, although you'll have to make that choice again.
-
It's easy to check your data usage (Settings > General > Usage). I've had mine a month I've used 186Mb. Some of that is definitely due to having a new phone to play with too - In the last 3 months of having my iPhone 3G, I used 60mb / month.
-
In my opinion (having played with both), there's nothing that's as slick and nice to use as the iPhone 4. It's fast, the screen is amazing and there's a million apps for it. The screen was a minor selling-point for me and indeed when I first looked at an iPhone 4 in the flesh it didn't seem that big a deal. But when you compare new vs old, the new one is much better to look at - the new screen is definitely a big plus. Google are catching up but the iPhone is still in front for me. Whether Google will ever overtake the iPhone I don't know, although Google's development seems to be a lot faster than Apple's so maybe they will one day in the not-too-distant future. I just bought an iPhone 4 to upgrade my 3G - Very happy with it. I few random bullet points I can't be arsed to formulate into a decent paragraph: 1) My iPhone syncs my google mail / contacts / calendars perfectly, constanly updated. Very impressive adding an appointment on my calendar on the PC and it appearing a few seconds later magically on my phone 2) Spec means nothing at all - I went from a Windows Mobile phone to the iPhone 3G which was a "downgrade" in terms of CPU power. But oh my god sooo much better in every way. Perhaps you can compare different Android phones that way, but for Android vs iPhone, forget it. 3) I'm not sure what you need flash for - yes Apple's ban on Flash is annoying but genuinely I don't miss it at all. I think you could get flash via jailbreak anyway. 4) There's a Spotify app for iPhone 5) Re the video above: Comparing the Desire vs the iPhone 3GS is stupid - you'd be a fool to buy a (new) 3GS now (rather than iPhone 4) with the price difference being what it is. 6) All the phones you mentioned are pretty similar in terms of what they can do - any of them will be a huge step up from what you've got. There is no bad choice really.

Yes. This I like. I also like all of the bar jokes. A man walks into a bar. Ow! A dyslexic guy walks into a bra Two women walk into a building. You'd have thought one of them would have seen it. A guy walks into a bar. He says "Can I have a bag of helicopter-flavour chips?" The bartender says, "Sorry, we only have plain." A magician walks down the street and turns into a bar. A woman walks into a cocktail bar and asks for a double entendre. So the barman gave her one. A baby seal walks into a club. I'm here all night...

Actually try this first: In "My Settings", click Notification Options. Check that this box isn't ticked.

For some reason you can't send PMs. I don't seem to be able to find any options to enable it, but perhaps one of the Admins will be able to edit your profile. I suggest: PM Tom / Danny. I'll PM Tomturd.

That post is back in April, I'm not sure what's happening with Google Navigation for iPhone but I'm not holding my breath. On the other hand, TomTom for iPhone became a lot more affordable today...

I've got Tomtom on my old phone, which I keep just for the satnav. It works fine - however it would be very useful if there was live traffic updates. I can check motorway traffic on my current phone (google maps on iPhone) but it would be nice if the same device would do both. Might try Tomtom for iPhone if I'm ever feeling flush.

Presumably not with those levers in 04 though. That looks like a good combo superbrake though. I like the Servo wave levers.

Pinkbike Southern Downhill There are a few other forums (descent-world, gravity slaves) but 90% of the for sale ads on there are cross-posted from one of the above. Pinkbike is probably better: 1) because it's dead easy to search for bikes (E.g. filter by price / look at the pictures, and 2) because there are a lot of groms and people who don't actually ride much, so perhaps the bikes on there have had an easier life. (As opposed to SouthernDH which seems to be populated by people that ride and may hammer their gear). That's just my impression. I've bought two bikes from Pinkbike, one from a 17 year old rich kid who never rode it and the other from a slightly overweight middle-aged guy that didn't seem to have ridden much either. Which is nice.

I saw a friend's bike which had been robbed being ridden by some proper skaggy-looking chav in Manchester. So I followed him around for a bit until he stopped outside a (betting) shop and, as scallies love to do, left it leaning up against the railings. I calmly picked it up then pedalled the f**k out of there with the guy running down the road after me. I don't think I've ever had more adrenaline coursing round my body since! Tomm 1 - 0 Scallies (actually it's Tomm 1 - 2 Scallies because they still have my BMX and my old Leeson )

As far as I can work out, cheap downhill bike = old kona. They're heavy and about as advanced as a house brick but actually they ride OK. I recently bought a 2005 stab in great condition for £500 - that did a week DHing in France for my girlfriend with no complaints at all.
-
Recently Shimano brakes have become a bit unreliable in my experience (of about 4 sets). New Saint / Servo wave XT / SLX all work well at first but have gone a bit crap over a year or so. Disagree with the comment about needing to bleed them though - they will never be as good again if you bleed 'em. I reckon the next brakes I buy will be Elixirs (although I have no plans at the moment). They just feel amazing, and as reliability doesn't seem too bad, I reckon they're the best option out there.

XKCD is the most consistently brilliant thing on the web. Amazing.

Nice! How old is that? And how much progression have Orange made over the last 10 years? Materials, suspension design, geometry? Oh it's all the same. And £2k frame-only.
-
Yeah, plus the Orange is way more expensive and doesn't look as nice. I just don't understand Orange bikes, everyone seems to love them but I don't get why you would buy one.

I know it's lame when people say "the book is better than the film". But it seriously is, the film moves really slowly - I found it really boring! What's more the book is really short, you can easily read it in less time than it takes to watch the film

I've never actually ridden a Meta 6, but I have had a look at them. You're right, they are a bit beefier and the tubing is fatter in various places, but I can't see it riding very differently to a 5.5 (The magazines seem to suggest this, too). My bike sticks like glue to the ground at low - medium speeds which is ideal for climbing, but as you get going a bit faster, it gets fairly skittery over rough stuff, whereas a bigger bike with a coil spring will absorb more and grip better. Santa Cruz Bullet? Intense 6.6 Transition Bottlerocket? In fact, if you get a BottleRocket, Ima cut your cock off. I've wanted one for ages. http://www.transitionbikes.com/Bikes_BottleRocket.cfm

The Scott Ransom is one ugly mother of a bike. Hope that helps
