There's one of those things in Konqueror I think (Browser for linux) - it does red squiggles under words if they're spelt wrong. Same for gaim (MSN client thingy).

Sounds like your screen is fooked. Try a different screen on the same PC to check. If it is that, there's probably not much you can do - CRTs like to go different colours before they die. Make sure it's not near any speakers though, and a degauss wouldn't hurt (it'll be on the options for your screen if it's anywhere - press the buttons on the front of your screen).

Apparently you can also use a couple of magura brake pads lengthways in a vice to hold the hose.Some people still use heat but I think you're using too much. Use less heat.

Yeah probably. Can get TFTs for £120 or so these days, so I'd say yes. If it was AthlonXP-based (Can you still get AthlonXPs?). You might have to build it yourself though...

select the background colour with the dropper. Or, if it's just plain 100% white, press d for default colours (black/white) and then x to change it round (white/black). Then click the wand tool. Over your picture, right click, select colour range and then move the slider until it selects all the background (+ none of the foreground). Now do Ctrl-U and adjust the sliders until it's black. Is that about what you were after?
