If it's a decent job that you plan on doing for a little while, £5.69 is nothing, just pay it. And then take a pound out of the till each time for the next 5 shifts But if it's a rubbish job that you're not bothered about, I'd probably refuse to pay it. It's pretty unlikely you'll get fired, but you might lose out on shifts or get an official warning. I don't know, but at the end of the day it's only a fiver?
