    Bike Testing

if a company can afford to research & develop bikes, they can definately afford to have a number of demo bikes available at chosen events around the country during the summer months. Speculate to accumulate & all that carp

  5. someone mentioned using dot 4 or 5.1. don't do it, it f's the seals & hoses. Citroes suspension oil as used in the bx or whatever it was called is spot on. And when i bought it, it was the same price for 2 litres of that as it was for 100ml of blood oil.

    Bike Testing

Last year we had a mountain bike funday held at a local plantation where all the near by bike shops had demo bikes and Giant brought a massive van over full of all their best competition bikes for people to try out. Our shop got a load of new business thanks to that. Really was a good idea. Don't know why more companies don't do it though,
  7. take the pads out & use a tiny amount of copper slip to free up the slave cylinders, this'll give the lever less work to do when it's pulling the pads back and it lasts longer than wd40. But yea, i'd also recommend a fresh bleed
  8. park tools allen key set & cake money
  9. i use a 16t front cogger and usually around 15/16 on the back. Hey i just realised thats 1:1
  10. grinding does work well, i used to do it but got lazy so i just used melted road on me rim now because i'm a v brake rider so theres plenty of tension to pull the pads back off the rim. as for manuals, it'll make you better at them because you'll have to learn to do them using ur body weight rather than feathering the brake. Far better
  11. passed ur bad luck my way, it took me 45mins to walk home today after the 2nd pinch flat in 2 rides. As they say...sh1t happens.
  12. My echo is done in gold, very similar to the one in the photee. Gotta say, when i clean her up & leave her on display at work (local bike shop) it attractes a lot more attention than any other bike in the whole place. (even when we had a £3500 siemens cannondale on display) Red looks awesome too but i've seen lots of red parts that arent really all that old and they do seem to fade fairly quickly. If your paint job holds up then you can't really go wrong with either colour in my opinion.
  13. or if yer minted, go tubeless. Cant pinch flat a tube that doesn't exist. A few companies do downhill wheels & tubeless tyres so i reckon they'd probably do the trick.
  14. Do it, the grease gets sticky & the pawls stop releasing so open her up flush er out, re grease and put back together. Hey presto new freewheel.
  15. I had a hazzard hub on my old brisa and it ran sweet as. I used it for just over a summers worth of riding & never had any problems with it at all.
  16. 1 monty x-hydra (which i later discovered was supposed to have been recalled to the factory due to the wrong tubing being used on the chainstays so i'm not sure whether that counts) 2 Brisa B20's (one was only a month old & bikedock said it wasn't under warranty so we went straight to brisa and they replaced it with the model that hadnt even been released at the time) and a DDG shooter that had already been ridden to within an inch of its life by a mate. So i finished it off.
  17. yep, most giro's = too high on the head. Bell are usually good for people with awkward shaped heads and i've always found that a cratoni maniac sits pretty well on my bonce. So well that i've had 3.

    Headset Play

Is the part that slides down onto the crown all the way down? What did you use to get it to the bottom? Or could it be a rubber o ring thats popping out of place when you tighten it?
  19. I think its just a waterproof/dustproof seal but if i were you i'd get onto whoever you bought the bb from and get them to send you a replacement o ring. Or nip down the local bikeshop & see if they can sort you out with anythin. At least if you have it in, you mind will be at rest and you can put all you concentration into riding instead of worryin whether th bb's gonna pack in.
  20. This is just from memory but i think there should be a rubber o ring on the non drive side, maybe thats what should be filling that extra few mm? just an idea.
  21. Me and my lil' echo have been in hibernation for nearly a year now but i've just wiped the dust off and orderd some new bits (xtr v's & levers etc) and hopefully the Isle of Man will once again be rocked by the wrath of the trials bike. I'm still amazed i remembered my password for this site cuz thats been well over a year. Good to be back.
