  1. Duffs came today, I am seriously impressed (with the limited use I have of my feet at the moment) seem on par with my 5-10s on grip!
  2. looking good Ben! Nice pics and write up. How was that drop?
  3. Have you ever heard the phrase "the king is dead, long live the king"? It means the old king has died and the new one takes over the throne and runs things in his own style. this can be used for other things, like "trials is dead" In that context it means the older type of trials is dead, but the new type is here and is equally as good, just in a slightly different way. I am sure someone could explain it better, but the name "trials is dead" doesn't littorally mean trials is down the shitter.
  4. You do know what that actually means though right?
  5. The unfortunate trait of a lot of TGS riders.
  6. will be worth it guys, Lukas is great, totally made everything easy for me when I went! the riding is great and the parties legendary!
  7. Last ones were great, but the sole was too thin and wore out too fast, the Duffs were £30 rather than £80ish for new 5-10s
  8. I bought some for riding in, but have decided they are the most lethally slippery shoes I have ever worn. I have now ordered some Duffs from recommendations.
  9. not as great as Trialtechs. 4-bolt forks WILL snap, most of them quite soon if you like hooks and gaps to front, but the Trialtechs are EEEEASILY the strongest and should last quite a long time. an extra 5mm in wheelbase is pretty much unoticable.

    very very very good rider!
  11. on the pads, maybe try some standard Avid rim Wranglers, they are suprisingly good and should still give some modulation, I think Rowan Johns uses them.
  12. the two most up-to-date dirt/street frames in my eyes (that are not also trials frames) are This NS Bikes Capital even though it doesn't say what the chainstay length is and still has a super slack head angle with sus forks, and the Dartmoor Cody which does have short stays, but still a super slack head angle and possibly a too low bb.
  13. May not seem like the most helpful advice ever, but if you can get used to rigids, it would be well worth it. Also that first frame you linked to, no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no. super low bb, super long chainstays, super slack head angle, pretty much everything you DON'T want from a street bike. The NS would be better, but still not as good as something more aggressive.
  14. may I ask why suspension is needed for street? You can pretty much do any kind of riding on any bike, street and trials are kinda the same, the same changes in geo give the same results, shorter back end for easy rearwheel stuff (backhops, manuals, bunnyhops, spins), higher bb for faster spins, steep head angle for nicer front wheel moves. It just so happens that street mtb is about 5 years behind everyone else (though is catching up fast these days in terms of geo). My overall opinion is that the geo of trials frames (Inspired Hex 26" and fourplay 24") are more suited to trials than a street frame, but ALSO more suited to street than most "street" frames too.

    Films!?

the first one was ok, the beardy guy pretty much made it though, I thought the 2nd film made him out too much as actually being handicapped rather than just "weird" and he wasn't as funny as a result (plus the lack of actual funny/silly things he did such as the anchor out of the boat at the end). The other characters are actually just plain annoying.

    Films!?

if by amazing, you mean exactly the same as the first film but no where near as good and way too many close ups of mens meat stalks? then I agree.
  17. pretty amazing, but I would still prefer to watch someone ride street like this guy
  18. the Try-All and the Maxxis are the same compound, so grip levels should be similar. Get a 2.5 Maxxis if you want grip and puncture resistance, get the Try-All Lite if you want grip and weight saving, I personally don't like the rubber queen so can't recommend it
  19. in no order: Radiohead, Hail to the Thief Radiohead, In Rainbows Coldplay, Parachutes Blur, 13 Blur, Think Tank Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon Queen, Queen 2 Muse, Origin of Symmetry The Good The Bad and the Queen, The Good the Bad and the Queen Air, 10,000 hz Legend
  20. She turned 22 last month, but unfortunately took a turn for the worse last week and was put to sleep today, I am pretty devastated.
  21. it's not the heat treatment that's the problem, the weld is not a structural part of the fork, but it is placed in such a way that the fork wants to bend, but the mounts don't allow it to, concentrating all the stress at the edge of the weld. I dislike front HS33's so much I can't put it into words, It's at the same level of dislike as lycra and silly high bb frames which funnily enough are all usually connected.
  22. get a Trialtech Lite chain, they will fit your cog and tensioner, they are fairly light but don't stretch much so are actually stronger than some "heavy duty" chains.
