I think Johns trying to point out that if danny isn't happy with his life he should actively seek to change at least one thing to try and better it. Seeing as danny said everythings shit i think the implication is that danny hasn't tried to change it, which he may or may not have, i don't know. In your example though johns point would imply that you are in control of finding yourself a significant other, not that such a thing won't actually make you happy and that being comepletely alone all your life with just yourself will. I think you are over-dramatising a bit though danny, you've got friends who care about you (i guess i'm one of those)... so not everything is so bad.

Thought i'd give the 64bit vista a try yeah, it seems good. Its noticeably faster than the 32bit version i tried a while back, when i say noticeably, i mean that it doesn't seem to hang like the old one did and swapping numerous amounts of files from one place to another isn't a problem now either. The speed for opening photo album folders and stuff seems quicker too. I also like how much more intuitive it is with regards to installing new devices. It picked my camera, webcam and mobile phone up straight away and had them setup with the right drivers within a matter of seconds. It was more of a hit and miss case with XP especially with it finding my camera, it'd often tell me there was a problem with the device and it may not be working properly. Not had any incompatability issues yet with games and things eaither so thats nice, games seem about the same speed too, though i dropped 2-3fps in crysis with vista. I think when i get my new hard drive i'll make the change permanent instead of a dualboot with xp. More RAM is always good, especially now you can pick up 2gb of ddr2 for less than £30. I bought some, got gold heatsinks and everything... looks great and performs really well too. My vista index score is 5.2, and thats because my hard drive is shit Everything else is 5.7-5.9 so my computer is right up there The £30 ram got full vista marks at 5.9 too so it'd be worth picking up if you can fit ddr2.

I love how you can take a description as simple as a "click" and be so definate on it being his freewheel. The pawls generally won't round off either, its usually the ratchet ring that rounds first, the pawls have to be a stronger material than the ratchet because the pawls take a tremendous amount of pressure during engagement and so they need to be super strong to cope with it. You also forgot to mention that easily 90% of bottom brackets at some point in their life go through a stage of clicking/creaking. The creaking/clicking period is usually a few weeks after you start riding on it, so depending on how much he's been riding it and how much force he's put through it i don't think its hard to assume that its his bottom bracket rather than his freewheel. Good news is, the bottom bracket should stop making such a big noise pretty soon. Its like a bedding in period and once its been through enough abuse it stops whinging and becomes silent again. Of course this can be speeded up by putting a few drops of light oil (not wd40 or gt85) around the seals of the bottom bracket, so the small gap where the axle goes into the bottom bracket cup. It might also be wise to take your pedals out and clean the threads on your pedals and the cranks and whack a fair amount of grease on them before re-fitting, like Jay said. Also take the crankarms off the bottom bracket axles and clean/re-grease them too. My bottom bracket makes a right old racket if i go out riding in heavy rain.

Its probably no help now as your probably asleep but all its done is set the page file slightly larger. The page file is a small space on your hard drive thats reserved for storing things you've told the computer to do when theres no more space on your RAM. If you were doing something intensive at the time or a random program hadn't closed properly it could have filled your RAM and paging file while windows decided it needed more room. Either way, its nothing to really worry about as the information on your RAM (if it was caused by a locked program) is lost when the computer switches off due to having no power in the RAM chips. When you turn the computer off and back on your left with fresh clean RAM. If its any consolation i usually increase my page file size in xp anyway, though now i've got vista it seems to be speeding along without such a need. Good old 64bit.

I've always used a Tioga Factory DH 2.1 or 2.3 on my front wheel. They're light and fairly grippy on the front, moreso than when they're on the rear. And best of all, they're dead cheap.
-
Yep, thats the prognosis i'd go with too. Either that or he's tried sticking an echo external bb in and fitted a front freewheel to it. If your chain keeps coming off its not lined up properly, especially if you say its got enough tension. If the freewheel is rubbing on the bb shell and the chain on the tyre i think its okay to assume your bottom bracket axle isn't long enough, you'll need a wider one to solve these problems. I'm guessing as you've just started using a front freewheel, the cog that was on there before was thinner, so further away from the bb shell. But then when you fitted the front freewheel its closer to the bb shell as the freehwheels generally have a wider spacing than the single cogs do. If the chainline was slightly out with the cog already, fitting the front freewheel could have been just the final amount of distance needed in order to start causing you all these problems. But yeah, the simple solution should be to get a wider bottom bracket, one that isn't an echo external one (unlikely with the chain/tyre rub but just incase you have one). Luckily its a relatively cheap and fairly simple procedure, not like building a new wheel up anyway. If your not confident you can always pick up a new bottom bracket from somewhere like tartybikes or cleanbikes and then take it to your local bikeshop for them to fit it, shouldn't cost more than about £5-15. If you could take a picture of it though from the rear cog point towards the front of the bike, then one of the front freehweel/bb shell area we'd be able to determine for sure.
-
So you were charged £20 for the £8 freewheel? I'd definately be going back and getting a refund, while your at it try and explain to them that fitting such a cheap and unreliable part to a bike where the drivetrain is crucial for the survival of your face (broken freewheels usually mean semi-frontflips) was actually exceptionally dangerous, and to not tell you that they had done it whilst letting you walk out the store thinking you had a reliable freewheel was irresponsible.

They must have known its because your "special needs"

In conttained spaces it damages parts. The good thing about it being a brake is as the water expands it just pushes the cylinders out as if you were pulling the lever. This results in your pads touching the rim but there shouldn't be enough water in there to cause damage after the pads cannot move out any further.

I'm guessing you didn't mean to quote me, but if you did.... i havn't posted a topic in a while and i've been a member for ages (was only in new members for a week )

If you had looked to the left and slightly down of the "new topic" button you so easily managed to find you would have seen that there was a list of things about validation, including mikes guide, the general guidelines and new members guidelines... inside you would have found... * Use the Spell Checker, it doesnt take long! * Dnt use txt tlk * Use descriptive topic titles, try not to use topic titles such as 'help!', 'Problem with....', 'where', and instead try and put as much information in as possible * Try and put as much information into your posts as possible, don't leave people guessing what you mean (this is <b>not</b> MSN!) * Do not spam/post irrelevant messages * Dont get involved in arguments, use the report button. If you are argumentative you seriously reduce your chances of getting validated * Do NOT post new threads asking when you will be validated * Do NOT post new threads asking why you cant post anywhere else * For Sale/Wanted/Swap threads are not allowed in New Members Chat * Do NOT email us when you realise you cant post anywhere else * Do NOT cross post between Members Chat forums and New Members Chat * Harassing Admins/Moderators via PM/Email/MSN WILL NOT get you validated any faster

It doesn't say make good topics to get verified. Make decent POSTS (ie, replies to topics) or make A decent topic up and theres more of a chance to get validated. You don't have to make thousands of posts, or thousands of topics. Being validated can be done in one single post. Why don't you make a topic that people will probably want to have discussions in? Something like the progression in aesthetics of bikes and parts, the possible future of geometries on frames, how people have individual styles in their riding and whether a style can be learned or whether its someones unique way of riding thats individual to them, or even try discussing how people mentally prepare themselves before they commit to making a big move when they're out riding? Just something with a bit more imagination than "which is better (insert generic item or person here) or (again, insert another generic item or person here)?"... or the old faithful "who can (insert move here) the furthest/heighest?" Stupid new members really wind me up.

You guys were the only ones that quit Now everyone rides in loughborough, got a right crowd here. Me, patt, ben, boumsong, andy, flipp, cal, the sorrel lot are still around somewhere.

Technically i'm in loughborough now, but its only 15 minutes away from leicester by train. Theres also john wjho lives next to victoria park, his username on here is rebelistic. He's cool as hell. Ha ha, throw the website in too for good measure (good christmas mate? i would txt you but my phones playing up)

Fair play though, i really like it. -
To be fair, nothing looks out of place there. Temps all look fine, low amount of processes, nothings eating away your memory or processor usage. You got much room left on your hard drive/defragmented it lately? My hard drive gets noticeably slower if i'm down to less than 1gb free space on each partition (160gb drive, 2 partitions). If you havn't done a defrag in a while give that a go, its (re-arrange items on your hard disk to make..... etc) in the control panel under performance and maintenance.

She's not just "the invisible woman" ash Shes THE Jessica Alba If it wasn't for having her in it i don't think i'd have watched it the whole way through.

Ha ha, yeah... dunno why really, my maggies fine. Guess the crossover could be handy

Meh, it looks fine to me. I'll get this ball rolling for him... £5 bid from me

He's right, sorry jt but like you i was adamant the thing wouldn't take off last time we had this discussion. I've long since seen that it will in fact take off. The above example is as good as you can get. Basically as the wheels are just spinning on axles they can go as fast as they like, so long as the plane has air being pushed it can take off. The wheel speed and the floor travelling backwards is irrelevant.

Have you tried keeping the power pack and the unit itself in a well ventilated area while your using it? Linky says that the red rings are a general hardware failure. Sometimes it fixes itself, but the rest of the time... it needs to go back. EDIT: At least its working now. I wouldn't try shaking it in future though... prolonged use of the system increases the temps of the solder between the mainboard and cpu/gpu, making them brittle and liable to cracking. YOu'll probably be alright seeing as its new, but if you get the red ring again don't shake it harder
