  1. im only gonna comment on frames i've owned/used for a reasonable period..... curtis frames (and forks!) are highly overated-not as strong and amazing to ride as people claim base frames are pretty underated-they are a superb ride also the 1999 monty x alp(steel one) is 1 of the most beautiful riding mods ever-i love mine to bits i find the cheaper frames tend to be better-its odd, value for money is where it is at
  2. a night with mats sister and perhaps a lovely new konza stinky with some of my money put towards it
  3. i said some gay on the forum is having the bike unless ur name is mat hudson, and you are extremely gay then dont be insulted and it was very nice of you to aknowledge all our information we have given you, very new members style................
  4. magura did special edition brakes with gold lever blades and there was special edition gold shimano lx stuff (but the levers were wank) and as stated, hope do a large range of gold shizzle so you can pimp you brakes theres also a few other manufacturers-theres a few bmx levers like the goldfinger (i think its called that) with gold blades too-bit useless for trials mind you.... there is also a manufacturer who makes replacement blades for hayes, shimano and a few other brands of disc brake-they come in alot of colours-i think they are called something like brody? it begins with b anyway... so yeah theres a few choices-i went through a stage of wanting to make the goldest bike ever, but got bored now some gay on the forum is having it all
  5. hacksaw a notch into it, and get an impact screwdriver-itll be out in seconds
  6. are you sure its not just down to the crappy cables, levers and brakes they use? cos it really makes a hell of a difference
  7. sorry i have been uber busy, hopefully i shall have ym bike working mint soon-i want to get it perfect hmmm dude, if you can somehow get half way to mine, i may be able to get you there :$ i didnt realise there was a trials scene at aldeburgh, when i used to ride there-it was dead add me to msn-you are pretty local B) add me: mummysboy32@hotmail.com theres a few good bits-me and jonny know the place well :P and i like any kinda riding so i dont care where we ride really aha, i have you added already :P come B) anyway we need to sort some dates out buh-any particular dates you cant make?
  8. im guessing they still do rb levers? other than the custom made route, or going for older alternatives, you are pretty stuck usisng disc brake levers leaves alot to be desired too try making your own lever blade to fit in the body housing? at least then you can get the shape and feel that you want :P im gonna try it soon with my v brakes, go for an rb esque lever with more leverage-more for interest rather than improving my brake-cos its excellent anyway :P
  9. yeah you can use ffw, just use a fixed rear hub but thats pointless.... get a hope xc if you on a budget, perhaps a dmr revolver(singlespeed) with an eno if you have the extra cash :P im a big fan of my bulb, but others dont have as good experiences with them-the new hope hub will be out 1 day, mkaybe you are best off waiting for that? :P personally i would steer clear of a king, shimano/anything other than hope and the dmr/eno combination really-thats only because ive had a majority of the others and always gone back to hope ^_^
  10. ha ha ive used your brake before george :o since i got the linear slicks, all my vs have been smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth :P and work mint :P trialsboy: what did you find wrong with the flexy noodles? i used 1 for a brief period on my old curtis(cos it wouldnt setup right) and it was great ^_^ but when i changed frame i put a normal noodle on cos it was the correct angle
  11. well done for pointing that out mat :P anyways, i said it was made by duncon...........just a bit of useless info so people dont get confused about who makes the cocks :P talking of cocks and stuff, did you get that ivory dildo off ebay?
  12. made by duncon if im not mistaken pretty fookin good frames:p even worse wen you say im riding duncons cock ah well :P
  13. hahaha, ill get in contact with my 'supplier' and see if they can get more in for you :P
  14. george i got perfection on my first attempt :P the flexy noodles really work, they bend at the correct angle for whatever length cable you run and adjust for the position of the brake arm-i ran them on the curtis if you remember? o and ben, if you want i have some spare (well quite a few...) new tubs of teflon based weldtite oil, ill send you some with the noodle if you need any....
  15. grease is a bad idea full stop. skandys description was pretty good, and with what he said, you cant go that wrong i suggest getting the outer cut properly with decent cable cutters(i use park ones and they seem to do the job ok-not as good as i expected though) and making sure when you clean out the outer, that you dont get any crap on the inner(thoroughly clean it before reinstalling it) what degree noodle have you got(the silver bit) i found too tight an angle made my brake feel a wee bit worse-i have some flexible noodles at home, maybe you could try 1 of them out ben? also, make sure the cartridge bearings in the ultimate are still ok-george hadnt used that bike in a fair while, so they may have got a bit seized (unlikely though) personally i would suggest buying another linear slick, installing it properly, with oil and that, then reusing the previuos linear on the front :) cos there should be plenty of grease free outer left over :) another thing-are you running the cable clamp(on the v arm) on the right or the left? i find on the right makes a bit of difference due to the bases hose guide positioning-but i think george already did that on your bike
  16. cripes edd, you really are the meaning of kindness
  17. they are immense, i had both on mine and loved it (Y) except my brake was noisy as fooook :) heatsinks werrent bad either, less noise too personally id go for spanish flies, and with all chrome rims the brake will be shite once it gets covered in shite/water
  18. grease is you problem, never use grease on cables, it gets old and turns sticky and basically makes the brake feel wank :) catch you on msn dude, im sure i can help you out more if there are any problems (Y)
  19. that 1 >_< it doesnt make a difference in feel, just strength the only way itll feel different is if you using a crap 1 agaisnt a good 1, say a dicta againt a king-if they are similair quality-say a profile against an eno-it wont feel any different
  20. can do, more than likely i will be going after christmas, but id prob take the jump bike cos the only bit i like in ipswich is the huuuge ass pile of sleepers, and they will more than likely be slippery as fook  add me to msn, and i can get you intouch with plenty of local riders >_<
  21. i can try, dunno if i can get off work though i shall see if i can get some street riders out too  make it a bit more interesting >_<
  22. its probably the cable, linear slicks take away a huge amount of flex as they have such stiff housing get crv pads if you can, they are a notch above heatsinks-also i found heatsinks to be useless on a grind >_< im gonna give them another go on my new ceramic though, hopefully that will reveal some potential!
  23. what are you on about? dave merely said service it once a year-rebuilding them is a 10min job-its so easy generally the reasons why peoples hubs dont work right is down to poor maintenenca/not breaking them in properly, etc-then they whinge cos they are retards and cant do it properly get a mono if you on a budget-the springs and pawls done tend to break-its usually the ratchet, but you have to be a right harsh b*****d to break them ive found, however much abuse ive given my bulbs and xcs, they havent failed on me yet otherwise an eno on a revolver is a bloody good choice-its a far better choice than a king i think
  24. ahh rity, i didnt notice that! well perhaps you can find a xtr in australia? im not writing off the heatsink, just xtrs are feckin good, and there are a few kickin about on ebay and stuff why do you need a booster anyway? generally i havent had the need to run a booster with my v brakes, if i do its just to make sure it is all stiff  try making you own! its far more fun
  25. itll f**k you geometry up having too short a fork go for a dmr trailblade fork, or 1 of the new identiti/charge/new generation trailblades with qr20 axles all will be designed to be as long as a 100mm fork with some sag (so a bit like an 80mm) otherwise go for proper sus forks that are stiffened-foxes are pretty nice, and anything but the dj series from marzocchi will be pretty nice :) i really liked having my old pyslo sls on my jekyll set at 90mm-it suited it fine :S
