im really in love with kona stinkys, more so now i own 1, they look superb i think im not so keen on the looks of the overbuilt dh bikes out trials wise, the old pace rc250 is a thing of beauty, and ive seena fair few leesons and curtis bikes that look very sexual-again maybe biased as my old curtis looked beasty bike of my dreams though.........hard to say, most probably the new charge titanium jump bike as featured in this months mbuk, its basically as close to perfection as it gets for a hardtail i really really really want 1, and i will get 1 this year if all goes well gotta stop spending

Avid Juicy Users...or Just Clever People..help
CurtisRider replied to Joe Papasnap Maher's topic in Trials Chat
mine does that, not totally sure why, but ti doesnt seem to hurt it im guessing its something to do with when you crash, to stop it snapping, cos itll kinda slow it down by clicking.........or is that a stupid idea either way, mine does it, and im pretty sure all of them do -
thats one thing im worried about, people will abuse hopes service, and they may well get fed up with it, which will mean less products will get done free/cheaply dont send stuff thats stupidly old/abused and expect them to replace it, its pretty unfair and will reflect badly onto the trials community be as friendly as possible though chris (not hard for you though your just a nice chap in general), and im sure they will be all to happy to help, by the sounds of it, itll only be a few quid for parts, and more than likely they will bleed and post it back to you for nowt good luck

give it a quick wash with fairy up liquid just before, incase it got any contamination during packaging. keep you mitts off the braking suraface, hold the rotor by the lil arms, jobs a good un
-
now thats a bit of help if you want a mod though, get a t pro-they seem to be the best cheap mod out, or consider the onza zoot, it sounds like it would suit you

hes been riding 7 seven years, was sponsered by cleanbikes i believe and also rode the gloabal titanium frames as a tester i think, so thats many bikes in 7 years isnt much? cripes ive been riding 5 years tops and have had not far off 30 frames now, but i do ride most types of bikes so they werent all trials bikes

ha ha ive had everything on time tis weird the way it works, but meh i cant grumble, i hope you'all get ur shizzle soon

the heatsinks in my experience are useless, i have had reds and whites and they both sucked the only compound they have done that i liked was the old batch b yellow one-it actually worked also, xtr cables arent all that great, the outers arent stiff enough, get yaself a linear slick or a nokon cable set, and it will make the brake feel far better white spirit is a bad idea, it leaves an oily residue, get some cif/jif stuff and use that, and wash thorughly, alternatively try a ceramic rubber-it really helps theres a reason for that ben-cos they rock just nobody seems to really know who to set them up properly so they say they are shit... ceramic pads are harder so surely would be worse? ive never tried them though-i know bennifer used to swear by running magura blacks on his ceramic koxx bloxx browns id imagine would be incredible-im very tempted to try them as they were the best magura pad out for winter use that cleaning method also works a treat, and finally yeah plaz crv pads are the best pads out for v brakes, on a grind or ceramic-spanish flies are very good too, trouble is plaz pads suck in the wet

wrong spacing v mounts are about 20mm narrower i think

i'd still wear them, but only on speacial occasions

my pigs have all been pretty good....broken a few bearings in the past, but thats nowt, i have run pigs on all my bikes, and thats a fair few get the pig pro, i just bought 1, they look to be a bit better in the bearing department

both eyes? and how much did it cost them? im short sighted as i mentioned at the start of the topic. cheers for explaining the procedure, i knew it was something like that just not in detail. my eyes havent changed much in 2 years, apparently they will get worse though-what a lovely thing to tell a kid at the age of 14....anyway yeah it seems stupid cheap for what it is, not just the savings for contacts/glasses, but also the little things.....like not havin them fall off all the time, getting more women, constant cleaning, all that shit apparently you cant do night driving for some reason? bit confused about that 25 years is a longer time than i expected, and so if i like to 100, thats only like 3 grand if the prices stay the same for my lifetime.. sory to hear that, so there is a chance they can still give you some sort of sight back if all things go wrong? or are most people stuck for the rest of their lives/til new technology comes along? oh charel...

righty, ive worn glasses pretty much since i started high skool due to being short sighted but its never really bothered me til recently. i've tried contact lenses but i just cant physically bring myself to touch my eyes, its makes me sick dunno why, just does....so im pretty much stuck with glasses. as i want to go travelling in the not too distant future i would rather not have to wear ghlasses all the time, as well as just making life that little bit better for myself-im sure all of you who have glasses wish you didnt have to have the hassle i have read about/seen adverts for laser eye surgery (a while back i admit, and i havent really looked into it further...yet), where they burn some of the muscle away to allow the eyes lens to contract and expand better, allowing the eyes to actually provide proper vison at all distances-i think thats how it works anyway what i want to know is, has anybody here had it done? or anybody they know? what were your/their experiences? what is the cost? (last time i looked it was 500 per eye which seemed insanely cheap for such an operation) and what is the sucess rate? i.e. does it fix you properly, or will i still need glases for certain things, like driving and stuff? before anybody mentions it-i am going to get proffesional opinions and stuff, and im not basing my decision on what a selection trials riders think-its more of a way of gettin opinions from actual people rather than an optician/doctor who hasn't had it done to themselves anyway, any useful help or opinions are appreciated cheers, paul

t birds have 10mm you can buy axle reducers form most bmx shops, the simply allow you to run a 10mm axle in a 14mm frame try www.alansbmx.com for them this should end your woes, but in all honesty you are better off with a better frame-trying out mod on a shit frame will just make you hate it and regret getting the thing i found this out the hard way

get xtr levers or avid ultimate ones if you can xts are ok, but its worth the extra money for more comfort

Will A 80mm Bb Shell Be Safe In Echo Team 04?
CurtisRider replied to Joe_Elding's topic in Trials Chat
all isis bearings are too small though, thats why companies are producing external bbs now and the bb tool interface-you dont like it that sounds pretty silly-its the same as the older xtr and middleburn spider interfaces and works well, infact i prefer it to the million spline system that most others use, as the tool seems to sit better and not slip out-but i dont think that should really put you off getting a certain bb-its not exactly a performance issue dont viz make some sort of bb (well a rebranded fsa thing?) -
sd7s kick arse, ultimates arent that much better in terms of power, just feel smoother due to the bearings and as they dont wobble like bushings, so there is less squeal i have an uber old sd7, that stupidly wobbly on my jump bike, and its still as powerful as the day i got it-it barely squeaks either which is nice but all my ultimates still marginally piss over it sd7s really are the only budget v brake worth considering (deores are ok but i have found them to fall apart a little too easily) as jon said, pad choice is vital-a good set of pads will transform a budget set of brakes-plaz crvs are a damn good choice, and im liking my heatsink whites(still yet to break in)-i run them with a grind/ceramic rim if that makes any difference-they perform well on both i also think cable choice is almost as vital, getting a set of oddyssey linear slicks will improve the brake lots, as they have far stiffer outers than standard-reducing the flex i went back to an el cheapo cable the other day (just to compare) and my brake just felt wrong, it was a bit mushy and the power wasnt as good make sure with your sd7 lever that you run the speed dial in the correct position-you generally want it on the setting that allows the least modulation
-
avid juicy for sure 5 if you're on a budget, 7 if you can afford to, as it has a tpa-no difference in performance of either though
-
or go to the woolyhatshop and get them cheaper
-
buy a tensile/onza/truvative/whoever else makes them replacable insert and whack it in? basically the same as a helicoil no?

Bmx Bike Check For Those Interested In What I Fall Off From.
CurtisRider replied to BONGO's topic in Chit Chat
i think big gay matt was gettin at the fact bongo says he runs heatsink reds on the rear, yet hes running spanish flies in the pic-what a geek for noticing i dont think he was suprised he was running them(cos they are some of the best pads for chrome rims out i found) -
akrigg moved to ashton first as for the raptor.....i wouldnt bother, just get a base ta26-superb frames and ive owned both so i have a pretty good comparison im on my second base now-after selling mine to get a curtis, and realising it was holding me back-now i have another base im improving again
-
he he i got it with great difficulty-fatmike had a couple for sale not long ago-try him to see if he still has them im guessing they were more of a bmx race rim-being 36h and all-but to be honest i never got the whole 48spoke malarky on my bmx, 36 is plenty strong enough unless you are stupidly shit and harsh... i was sellin mine not long ago, pity you didnt take the chance
-
d521/ex721s all the way i doubt i will run anything else again after trying out some of the other wank on the market........mavics are benchmark quality if only mavic did 24 again i even have a mavic bmx rim on the front of my mod-cos they are soooo suuuuuper
