righty, basically my king axle wont undo, i only intend on keeping it til the hope hubs come out, but i would still rather keep away from the skip hell i have had for the past week, its now pretty constant when im doing fast stuff trouble is my axle wont undo? which way do you undo it? just to check... also, i currently have d521 ceramics, and they are amazing, however, when i do move to 24, i cant get ceramic coated rims off the shelf, is there anywhere i can get them coated?

talk about the feeling you get doing it, the rush, the people, the friendships, the way it makes you happy everytime you nail a line. also talk about the costs, the competitive side of things-all that kinda stuff, i preusme this is your yr 11 thing? only takes like 5mins so you have loads to talk about in such little time remember, speak clearly, hands to your side(unless you are making actions) and look towards the class

well lets organise a proper decent ride, when alot of people will be free, presumably easter time is a good idea cos of holidays and weather? i know about 10 street/dirt riders, and a few new trials riders who ive sorted with bikes, so theres a start cos they would all come then we can go from there?
-
it really does frickin suck now though, i had a cool bond with you guys, and we got along, it wasnt just about riding, we had a funny time too 'yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees' 'i faaaaart on your face!' and yeah, its weird how bikes have totally ruled our teenage years (still do for me now to an extent with the old repairs for people and stuff), i was totally stoked to of met you guys, i visited ect before i knew tf existed, downloaded all the vids and that was my inspiration-to me you lot were god like trials riders cos i had never seen anything like it (and the riding still is feckin amazing today), i'll never forget how big my smile was when i met you all on christmas eve, and you and rob had a chat to me and invited me to a ride, meant shitloads to me, then when my bike got stolen and you gave me the gt (even if it was stupidly big )and some parts to get me going again just dont think theres many more people left who would do that kinda thing round here anymore miss you george

with regards to ultimate internals, yes the bit of metal that the spring tension bolt sits against is a tad wank, ive broken a few however, its easily fixed i managed to use the internals of a deore v brake and get them to fit (5 min job and not a bodge like it sounds), had no troubles since that means i now have a steel one, instead of alloy and it hasnt broken, and my brake certainly doesnt feel any worse for it

you may find the arms will be a tad far apart with a rim like that, so you will catch you trousers/shoes on the arms, thats why you need a slimmer rim ideally

the east coast trials crew are no more scotty, marge(i think) george, rob and a all the others ive forgotten names of have quit me and stu are the only people that ride now i think, altho i dont kow if stu really bothers now, havent seen him in a while the ipswich riders have all pretty much gone too, i havent really bothered to go looking for new trials riders, cos quite frankly i cant imagine itll be the same as the olden days and poeple like scotty and george made the whole ride funny as chuff however, if some1 does wanna organise a decent norwich ride, then count me in, as long as its not this weekend i know a fair few street riders who would love to come

damn straight, altho fi you go secondhand, bargains can be had, por example: sd7-bout a tenner xtr lever, bout a tenner again linear slick cable-may as well go new, they are uber cheap-6-7quid pads-for the rear you want some decent ones, crvs, heatsinks and spanish flies can be had for as little as 5-10quid thats like 35 for damn nice setup, whereas a similair maggy would be about 25-30, so its not really that much more expensive in my eyes, also once you have spent it, you generally dont have to spend anymore, ive managed to wear out 1 set of pads in about almost 2 years of riding, and i used to run some pretty nasty grinds, altho for the past few months ive had ceramics front and rear, so my pads havent appeared to wear at all

ive just turned 19 and hate it, im stuck in a job i dont really wanan do but have to, im a lazy ass and didnt bother with driving when i turned 17, so im getting pissed off learning to drive now, cos i cant see anyone easily til i pass, my fault i know. i really miss just being like 16 let alone younger, i was still carefree and could do pretty much what i liked, i dont know how i managed to live off virtually no money and still have fun, i guess you lose sight of the little things that make you happy once you start working and can afford to go spend money at pubs and stuff. virtually all my mates have either gone to uni or travelling and i miss them loads kinda makes me regret not going to uni now, im missing out big time, hell i dont even get bugger all chance to ride anymore...maybe it'll all change soon, i bloody hope it does

lowestoft if all goes well with a lass im seeing, i shall be up there often, fancy meetin up for rides? lowey has some pretty fun spots
-
my god, at last somebody has realised that its blatantly obvious yet everyone seems to use it as an excuse linear slick cable dont appear to stretch(well mine havent been adjusted in months) as for 4 bolt adaptions, i have some pics somewhere, add me to msn
-
i ran a avid ultimate/deore/sd7 on my old monty and it was stupidly good, i had no troubles with setup either, you will however need to run a slimish rim to keep the v brake arms at the correct angle, i found a alex dx32 to be perfect in mine
-
im on the norfolk/suffolk border, near harleston i dont ride trials much though, mainly street and freeride
-
im pretty sure your base is 1040 ben? my old 1 was,i will measure mine as i have the same setup as you pretty much now anyway, personally i would keep the base, its an awesome comprimise between short street bikes and long bikes cos its not uber short, but not uber long...at least keep yours until it cracks

marks totally right, there really isnt room in the market for them now, maybe if they had made one earlier, then they would of been a market leader in mtb and bmx hubs in terms of bmx, it would be too much cost and hassle for hope to produce a 14mm axle verison, look how much time they have spent on the pro2... however if you insisted on wanting a hope hub on you mod, surely its possible to machine off some material on the end caps, thus reducing its overall width? too much time and effort when you can get an eno/profile really

have front flips ever actually been done on an mtb? cos i dont recall ever seeing 1/hearing about 1 my god hes gonna piss over everyone if he carries on like that, he ouzes style -
wouldnt axle flex me more of an issue, seeing as hopes suffer from that alot? also those ellen key skewrs arent very good, i found they didnnt tighten enough, and when you tried to get them tight, they snap pretty easy
-
zaks a wimp and managed to hurt his arm after falling 6 foot off a wallride, utter loser
-
i cant this saturday, but sometime soon i can meet for a ride, all the older norwich riders have quit, so i dunno any of the young oens who have started (if any it seems ) usually we ride dirt at norwich, cos the street is a tad bland+theres no real intermediate stuff, its either small or huge

cheaper? v brakes arent that much, i got my first sd7 arms for a fiver, xtr lever for a tenner and bought new pads at 18quid, so not really all that different. 3mm thick pads? you obviously only look in halfords for pads crvs, spanish flies, and heatsink to name a few, all come in decent thicknesses, i still havent worn a set out-except spanish flies, which was down to experimenting with frequent fresh grinds v brakes will also fit most frames, you can get 4 bolt converters, which before you say it, are a similar price to 4 bolt mounts for maggies....maggies are anything but minimal maintenance for the majority-everyone seems to have to rebleed theirs all the time although i never had that problem to be fair... resistance to mud-well if you run decent cables then you should be ok, but that is the 1 'weakness' that v brakes seem to have over maggies-thing is, the majority dont seem to ride offroad frequently so it doesnt seem as bad, and runnign a quality cable helps... sd5s arent that good though, so its not a fair comparison using budget brakes, the use of tar suggests you didnt set it up well. i ride my bike on all kids of terrain, mainly my farm, which of course is muddy as f**k and so my bikes tend to get clogged up-so far i havent had any trouble with my cables so again, possibly a setup/product issue? if you are usisng anything but linear slicks or nokons, it will feel like shite anyway, i see why maguras are popular, status-woop i have hydro, im cool, they look a tad tidier, they have a large number of riders who use them so cant be that bad, they come in pretty colours, kids say wow when they see them-cos they look odd, and they can work well if set up right-i used to get on fine with mine until i realised there was better... my main reason for not liking maguras is the build quality, poor alloys, poor seals, horrible feeling lever blades(never quite seemed to get on with rb blades-but didnt get much time with them, but they have thier downsides too), they are a fiddly setup and just seem to much more of a pain in general than vs, for no gain? anywho, if you like your maggies, thats cool, its your choice

get a ceramic rim, and you will be laughing... grind will do though

all the people who say run xtr........actually try 1 and get back to me they are wank in comparison to most i run v brakes, and haver tried many different combos-alot of you seem to not have....hence dismissing v brakes altogther for the majority for the arms, avid ultimate all the way, especially since they are only 50quid now, but if you are on a budget, sd7s still kick some bum, offering similair levels of power, with a loss in smoothness due to no cartridge bearings-but its a very minor difference-keep away from anything parrallel push as for levers, xtrs are very good and affordble, i personally would not recomend xts, as they are only marginally cheaper, and far less comfy, ultimates however, as the name suggests, are frickin ultimate........i love mine cables, well there is only 2 choices, oddyssey linear slick or nokon, both offer ultra stiff housing which then adds to a stiffer brake, keep away from shimano and avid cables, they arent any better than cheapy cables in my experience pads are a tricky one, i seem to be the only person who hasnt had any luck with heatsink pads....none of mine have ever worked well, the whites infact have left alot to be desired.....my plaz pads however-they are immense crvs or spanish flies-both have been amazing, with the usual decline in power in the wet as with the magura versions-get some heatsink backings and you can run your favourite magura pad in there-sorted im now working on getting some rimjam red material in some backings-kcik ass brake boosters arent generally necessary i have found, a good cheap buy seems to be this crc brand x carbon booster, im yet to try 1, so i cant say it will be good, but i cant see it being awful either, at that price you cant grumble xtr boosters kick arse for sure i really liked mine and it seemed to make a marginal difference a few pointers: run full outer cables, it makes a huge difference to the smoothness of the brake, keep the cables clean, and well lubes(however i must admit i rarely lube my cables unless im changing them), set up the brake so that when the brake is fully on, the pad mounts are parrallel-this gives optimum power. its more than likely you will want a slimmer rim than that you would usually run with a magura because of this, then again, i can justify running any othr rim other than a d521, cos they kick arse and last ages
-
personally i would keep away from self extractors..... but in answer to your question-tight enough for them not to spin loose when your trousers/shoes rub against them (happened to me)
