  1. Be careful with the ones which don't need the front wheel removing, some don't reach the downtube of full sussers. I had to modify mine to make it fork mount in the end
  2. Weird, I wrote a reply about seats but it isn't there? Found a place who makes replacement covers for £200 so I'll probably go with those unless I find some seats I like! Noticed my gearbox moves rather a lot. This is in part down to a broken engine mount (torque tube transfers the wobble) and also I think the gearbox rubber is probably a little tired out too, especially after the amount of stress it must be under now. My current engine mount has a spring in it that breaks, and it is no longer available from porsche. There are aftermarket ones but they are expensive and not many people seem happy with them. I was wondering about removing the spring from mine, weld it back up (it'll be needed o keep the mount in shape) then fill the cavity with polyurethane to support the spring seeing as it's properties will have changed after welding This is what they look like: Alternatively I could copy the aftermarket mounts as they aren't difficult to replicate, something like a skateboard truck bush would be as substantial as that is on those and then I can swap them to softer/harder compounds depending on vibrations EDIT: The mount in question is very close to the exhaust and therefore gets pretty hot. Wondering if the poly insert would take the heat?
  3. I'm looking at potentially ditching my Porsche seats and fitting alternatives as mine are knackered and replacements are overpriced for thier condition. I want recliners that are a bit buckety and they need to fold forwards ideally. Has anybody got any suggestions of decent seats that come up reasonably priced? I've seen a few Recaros I like the look of but I don't know which ones were actually any good+many of them seem to be pretty haggard! I quite like the look of the EP3 Civic type R seats but they always come in gash colours
  4. I need a new headunit, mine died 2 days ago and i'm missing my terrible music collection already might nip to Halfords later and buy a povo one
  5. Running a Creative computer sub in my heap
  6. That pikey heat shrink idea sounds like a possible quick fix for my car, cheers for that!
  7. That video just makes me think motorcyclists are even more moronic than I previously thought. Chasing the car, regardless of if the RR driver had done something terrible or not, is just asking for trouble and irresponsible behavior. It's a real shame that a bunch of louts let down the decent motorcyclists and create an even poorer image that seems to surround them already. I encounter so many dicks on bikes on my journey to work, they put themselves into potentially awful situations, no wonder they end up being organ donors.
  8. Cheers for the links Robin! I had just spotted both after my post, I'm hoping to get a chance to digest it all this evening and then get cracking on tomorrow evening. It had been suggested that I have an injector problem and should get them cleaned, do you know of a good place to send them? Obviously I'll try some other things first but it would be good to find out in advance so I can plan when I can have the car off the road for a week
  9. I'd guess the nice fold up lid where the seat wells are and freshly carpeted boot may be a giveaway
  10. Removing rear seats- has anybody incurred a charge from their insurers for doing that? I don't need mine, they only fit midgets and I want more room out back
  11. Bit of JB weld and you are sorted...
  12. Anybody handy with K-jet? My car is lumping at 2k and really annoying me now. Here are some videos of the car starting, running from cold and running when warm, annoyingly the important one of the car lumping isn't working... i'll go redo that later Engine starting from cold Exhaust from cold Engine running when warm Exhaust when warm Car pulling through the rev range (on a private road of course), note how its smooth when accelerating but slightly lumpy when going at a consistent pace As you can see, some whiter smoke is evident when cold, but that disappears when warm. The engine is quite tappy (I need to do the tappets soon) and runs lumpy in idle regardless of cold or warm. When cold the car does not lump, this only happens when the car warms up and is more noticeable when more torque is required i.e higher gear with a low speed or going up hill
  13. Just changed my injector seals, they were so hard and brittle that they fell apart once I tried to remove them! I used the claw hammer method, worked well! Engine ticks over at a slower pace now and far more smoothly Just the new inlet pipe to get off Porsche when it arrives and the car should run properly again...
  14. That looks great but the Cupra splitter kinda ruins it, I dot think its necessary and just makes the front look messy
  15. I guess he is at least getting the most out of his travel
  16. Found that sneaky little split under the hose clamp... if that doesn't solve my running issues then i'm getting properly stumped! £20 new from Porsche, not bad!
  17. I think the plugs are more responsible than the fuel to be honest, and I can't afford to run it on that stuff all the time, i'm on the basic teacher wage and i'm hammering a good £200 a week on regular fuel anyway! (using the Golf 3 days a week and the Porsche 2 days) On a side note, the Golf mk5 is the most depressing, soulless, boring car I have ever driven, I cannot see any reason why anybody would want to buy one
  18. Changed my spark plugs today in the hope it would cure my running issues. 1 plug was barely done up which was pretty worrying! Previous owner was such a bodging b*****d it now runs a ton smoother, the ticking noise has nearly gone (tappets to be adjusted next) but unfortunately it still lumps like feck at 2k. Gonna collect some new ht leads on Saturday in the hope they at responsible... Oh and i also chucked in a full tank of that Shell nitro stuff as my car was nearly empty and I noticed it recommends 98ron fuel minimum, my car pulls so much better with that and fresh plugs! Trouble is I now want to hoon it everywhere as then I avoid the 2k lumping and the car feels so much more alive!
  19. So I have finally got my ignition timing right, but annoyingly the lumpyness at around 2k and at idle is very much present. I'm going to replace my spark plugs tomorrow, but I have a feeling my HT leads are to blame, could they be responsible for lumping? Wondering if it's a misfire that smooths out when going into higher revs as you notice it less?
  20. Pm me your email that you use and i'll share it
  21. Front end painted Before: After: So much cleaner looking! Also painted the front tow hook black (mine was rusty) and painted the rear drums black whilst I was at it. Doing this has now made me realise how bad my front bumper is... yet more painting ahoy! pretty much got to do every panel on this poor old thing
  22. Engine, they have a spring inside that commonly snaps, I'm wondering if I can make something up that's a bit better, it only needs to last til the summer!
  23. Surely if he owed you money then it did cost you something? I think one of my mounts has gone, but it seems there aren't poly mounts available
