i have 64bit w7 on my laptop with 64bit itunes installed, works about as well as itunes ever has on any computer ive owned, which isnt saying much for itunes as its always freaking horrid! Alas i have had no real problems with it i.e. crashing or making my computer set on fire

I have had problems when running large files in photoshop, my previous 3gb ram on my laptop was certainly not enough. Seeing as my computer is capable of running 8gb, and rams not exactly expensive, i may as well upgrade
-
Thanks for everybodys help turns out its a 630i. I upgraded the computer to 2x2gb ram, and will get the same again when i install a 64bit version of windows (32bit doesnt use over 3.5gb) also got myself a 1tb hd as a secondary drive just want to order a decent card reader to replace the redundant floppy drive. Computer should be all good for uni now really happy with it!

I have just been given a Dell XPS gaming pc, and i would like some help. Firstly, how do i find out what spec it is? I have looked up about it and nothing seems to match up on the spec listings It looks like this but with blue lights: It says it has quad core 2.4ghz on the system information on control panel. It has a twin monitior graphics card (i run twn screen) but i cant seem to find what it is? I have just given it a fresh install of 7, it all works smoothly and i like how silent the computer fans are whole new world compared to my previous machine! What i want to know is what to do about the ram. 1 stick was removed as it was faulty, i believe it was a 1 gig stick. I am left with 2x512 and 1x1 according to the crucial ram checker (i think this machine was supposed to come with 3 gig originally). I want to upgrade the computer to 4gig, as i found i use quite alot of the ram when using photoshop (at least i did on my previous 3 gig machine). Should i just buy a 2 gig stick, or am i better off having 4x1gig? Or 2x2gig even? I dont know if you are supposed to mix ram or not? Thanks in advance for help

i found with my audi tdi, blocking off the egr valve seemed to help the engine a little bit, less smoke and seemingly more torque (definately better mpg!) You could try a free-er flowing exhaust, but again the difference will be minimal!

Right, here is where my retardedness shows through.... Whats device manager? Xp system (pro 64) has no updates as far as im aware, i think whoever owned this has installed a wank copy and it wont update, im probs gonna wipe it and whack on 7 cos its getting annoying. 7 on my laptop is the pro 64bit Hope that helps!

Im booting them as usb, not off motherboard now. On the hd cases it says 'master/slave jumper notrequired' so i assume that means i don't need to set them up with that bridging pin thingy that my ide drives have? I had a feeling this was going to be the problem, due to it asking for one to be formatted. Is there any software i can use that would try and access the drives regardless of corruption? They both spin up nicely and stuff, and dont sound like rough like a previous hardrive failure i had did.

Right i have a problem that im hoping some of you fine fellows can assist me on. Im a little computer retarded, so you may have to break it down a little bit. I have also researched this problem, but not found anyhtign that helps, unless i pay for software that im not sure is any good I recently bought a new (well secondhand) desktop computer, all works fine. Reason for buying is because my previous one was was failing to load its hd...unless i reinstalled windows, then it worked momentarily before not working again. it was also pretty old and due for replacement. Replacement computer works fine My problem is, i wanted some information off the 2 sata drives i had on my old computer (music, films, and especially photos) and after connecting them to my new computer directly to the motherboard, it wouldnt even boot up. I then proceeded to buy a cable kit off ebay to allow me to use my hd as usb devices, hoping that i can acess the files whilst in explorer. Both hd are recognized by the computer, and the drivers install automatically. One wont show up in 'my computer', but doesnt bring up any faults on the screen. The other shows up in 'my computer'...but asks me to format it and wont let me do anyhting else with it. This is using xp. I also tried them both on my laptop with windows 7, and the same thing happens. I have tried some ide drives on there, and they work fine and i can access them, so that indicates the cable is not at fault. Anybody got any ideas as to how i can get these drives working? Be kinda nice to get the files i want, format both hd and then have them in my desktop for back up Thanks in advance
