  1. of course. the rape jokes got some laughs but as soon as I moved onto computers things went rapidly downhill
  2. I probably will - I mean I've got a spare if it blows up haven't i? I'll see how the memory sits during some proper work first i think - don't want to court disaster
  3. i was concerned because if you run 3 1 gb sticks the dual channel doesn't happen and xp32 would only acknowledge the presence of 3 . It's all a bit academic anyway cos I decided to be tight and just get the 2 gb - that's all working bar the fact that the socket 939 athlon 64s throw a strop if youhave more than 2 ram modules with chips both sides (or something) and underclock the memory to 333mhz . I've bumped it all back up to 400 and its fine so meh. this'll make you laugh though. The socket 939 4000+ isnt dual core at all so I've upgraded from a single core 2ghz chip to a single core 2.4ghz chip. I'm obviously some sort of spacker for not realising that two identically numbered chips on different sockets would be completely different. on the plus side, it does have double the L2 cache which is a help and it has made a noticeable difference in terms of playing bf2142 - as far as proper work goes, it remains to be seen. Oh well - it was cheap
  4. Rather than start a new thread..... right, I got my replacement CPU, didn't twig they only had OEM versions and I'm now left without a heatsink and fan (pause for laughter) Am I going to be able to use the (standard) heatsink and fan off my single core AMD 64 3200 (2.ghz) on a dual core AMD 64 4000 (2.4ghz) without risk of it catching fire or should I pop down the local computer shop and buy new ones?
  5. It's converting the splines to polylines in Max. select the spline, go to the modify panel and increase the interpolation value. If that doesn't sort it immediately you'll need to set curve values on each vertex manually. if you get confused pm me - if you get really confused mail me the file and i'll sort it
  6. isn't that the point where you're supposed to stick your hand down the back of her knickers and give her a tickle ?
  7. I'd have thought that as long as the numbers worked out (ie you only took rent&damage money from the deposit and then gave it all back) then it should all work out ok. but definitely get some proper advice cos there'll be paperwork to fill in if anything is taken further and the landlord is usually the one that ends up getting f**ked in these situations
  8. haro make some pretty good completes - they also make some really cheap ones. to put it quite simply. any complete bike that costs less than about £270 in the UK will need completely replacing if you start to take riding it even vaguely seriously, they usually dont have a full cromoly frame, fork& bars so they weigh a lot and they're weak and the components are obvioulsy goig to be a bit crappy. the good news is that even the cheap complete bikes that come from bmx specific companies like haro, we the people, khe, volume etc. do have proper geometry so they feel like the expensive bikes to ride (until something snaps off). I'd avoid companies that primarily make mountain and road bikes because they dont have their reputation at stake if they produce a crap bmx whereas you dont last long as a bmx specific company if you churn out shit cos the community is relatively small and well connected - news travels fast..
  9. i dont think they get any wider than 36mm - 32 is more normal i think. they're almost certainly going to be double or triple wall so strength isn't really a concern - the fact that giant make the bike you've been looking at worries me a lot more. might as well post mine again since everybody else is at it bike: frame: colony sect 20.5 fork: sunday night v1 bars: federal light front wheel: Animal GLH 2.1 on hazard light 48 on gsport Homer back wheel: Animal GLH 2.1 on hazard light 48 on khe geisha street sprocket: khe ninja 25t chain: loophole without the loophole sticker cranks: wtp royal (white cranks are gay but £20 cheaper) pedals: khe stimulatorz (moving back to the khe mag ones while it's wet though) seat: fancy fly one with metal bits underneath instead of plastic seatpost: the expensive hoffman one seatclamp: mankind stem: odyssey elementary v2 grips: odi O grips (only mentioning them cos they're the best grips in the universe) brakes: don't be gay pegs: i'm being gay weight: about 24lbs child: sex: male age: 13 months 17 days jeans: timberland jumper: asda socks: asda dummy: mothercare nappy: pampers active fit (size 4) weight: about 22lbs haha, just spotted the lube - first one to circle it gets some kudos or a custard cream if they pay postage
  10. maybe these days we'd be better off without religion but despite all the bad stuff religion has been a driving force for a lot of good things - a lot of literature, philosophy and scientific advancement has been the work of priests/clerics under sponsorship of the various churches, not to mention all the church run hospitals curing people of weird tropical diseases over the last couple of hundred years. a religion (or any other belief system) is only bad when used as a tool to spread hate and fear and manipulate idiots - most religious types are well meaning folk who make a positive contribution to the world, it's just the few bastards giving the rest of them a bad name.
  11. I've figured it out... they dont get pregnant 13 years olds in Poland
  12. that's not really the point though is it? we breed nonces in this country - why should poland be any different?
  13. they're notorious for it. Why else would Hitler have invaded ?
  14. I'll keep quiet then First up - on topic (whether the Sun thing is true or not) : legislation put in place just in case someone might get upset is a f**king stupid idea (winterval ). Second - Immigrants and concessions to their way of life : I figure that if you can't deal with the way the majority of people live in your chosen country then you ought to bugger off somewhere you can. That's not saying I think the brown fellas should go back home, it's saying that if you don't like the way everybody else behaves you're in the wrong place. To further illustrate my point... I left Greece because I didn't like the corruption and beaurocracy in anything government related, I didn't stay there and whine and I didn't expect them to change the system for my benefit, I came back here where things like that are a lot less prevalent.
  15. I got the socket AM2 version by accident :$ I thought about a new mobo but to get one with similar spec to my current one is 150 quid and since the next machine is going to be an 8 core intel it's not worth forking out the money. Ebuyer let you send stuff back if you make a cock up so i'll just have it replaced with the socket 939 version.
  16. ebay - get a specialized langster or a fuji track. fixies are fun
  17. i believe you - it'd be a bit academic by that point anyway after all this I managed to cock up my order and have ended up with 2 gb of ram and a cpu that wont fit in my motherboard. ah well, you lives and learns
  18. I'm on the GA K8NXP SLI so we've got pretty much the same stuff. Don't think i want to spend the extra £100 for 4gb of the spanky ram to be honest - I've been using corsair value stuff for years with no problems so I'll probalby just stick to it.l
  19. that 's exactly the answer I was hoping for - are you positive (barring any weird-ass, unexpected behaviour)? si-man : its a single core socket939 3200. I might get a dual core chip as well if I can find one on the cheap but I'm limited in terms of speed on socket 939 and this is really only a stop-gap til I get a complete new monster machine.
  20. it helps in the sense that I'm now extra confident that all my hardware is up to the job - My concern is that I might make the machine slower by adding extra memory
  21. so 4 x 1gb sticks will go wrong? and 2 x 2gb sticks will also go wrong? but 2x1gb and 2x512mb will be alright? tits
  22. you need a striped shirt, a beret and a string of onions before they'll let you drive in france
  23. right... I've got a PC that dual boots XP32 (day to day crap and games) and XP64 (serious work stuff) I want 4gb of memory so I can keep up with creating current gen game models and textures - 2gb isn't enough I believe the following is true.... XP32 can't address more than 3.2gb of ram XP64 can I've got 4 holes for dual channel memory (nforce 4 SLI chipset) - the obvious thing is to whack a 1gb stick in each hole. It has to be arranged in pairs or dual channel turns off and machine runs like shit (whcih is unacceptable) It'll all be fine on xp64 - the dual channel business will work and ill be happy as a pig in shit. the question is.. on xp32 will the dual channel memory still work as dual channel memory if the OS can't address one of the sticks of Ram? perhaps it's a bios thingy so OS isn't even relevant, I don't know.. ta
  24. it'll be absolutely fine. the picture quality and frame rates on an XBOX or ps3 are so shite in comparison to a PC game you won't notice any problems. I'm not sure the samsung come with an HDMI hole if that makes a difference - the new HP ones do but the spec is a bit ropey in comparison and they cost as much as the Dells
  25. it certainly is - it's the 24" version of the one I suggested the only thing it falls down on compared to the 22" is response time but if you're not playing games or doing 3d graphics you won't notice the ghosting
