  1. Someone PLEASE have a helicoil kit - otherwise I won't be riding, and possibly won't ride Plymouth for ANOTHER 3 months...
  2. New to me, should have made that clear Still an absolute bugger though, as finding out now gives me approximately NO time at all to sort it
  3. Anybody going to this ride own a helicoil kit? Turns out my new frame doesn't have a thread in one of the brake mounts, which I didn't know until now so haven't been able to sort it No brake = no ride, and this is supposed to be my first time on the bike in ages...
  4. Jon, you can take crazy photos, yet have Old Person Wallpaper as your background?! Good call
  5. Pads: Coustsink Vees Time used:Month or thereabouts Rim used: DX32 Grind: Lightest grind ever (smoother than a light grind that's been worn flat since April) Ceraminc: No Brake used: Avid Ultimate, SD7 Lever What is your opinion of a good working brake: Silent, solid bite and hold Previous pads you have used: Zoo, Heatsink reds, Rock blue/red, Maggie black/kool stop Review: Silly business. Performance is ridiculously good, but they're annoyingly loud! If these pads were silent, I would NEVER buy anything else!
  6. It's anodized on if I remember correctly, so Nitromors won't do a thing, you'd need to use caustic soda
  7. You MAY (and that's a big may...) be able to have it back, depending on wat happens over the next week or two. If I don't need it and don't keep it, you'll be the first person I talk to
  8. You mean the one I'm on now? If so, you're most definitely correct!
  9. You may well have found the one alowable use for tar in trials... ...alternatively, that could be silly messy and totally screw the floor
  10. I'd love my 24" Ashton back for a play, would be great to let it live up to it's potential a little more, as, despite being shite now, I was worse then (maybe...) Saying that though, it was ony a year back I had it, so not as old and 'rootsy' as you're talking. That'd mean my £130 XC rig from a french supermarket
  11. Feel free to make a cheeky offer, you never know Not sure which I'd rether keep though! If you're still interested when you have the money give me a shout and I'll be happy to help
  12. Seems like the right place. I'm very skint, and don't play anywhere near enough to justify having all my guitars, so something has to go. Either the Dean Evo Acoustic, or my Dean Acoustic Bass; Both are in mint condition (other than a small paint chip on the top, back, left hand corner of the head of the 6 string) and only been played a handful of times Both sound immense, love every note that they produce Not really sure how much, but both were around £300+ new Have some brand new bass strings kicking about too somewhere If you or anyone you know are/may be interested, drop me a line
  13. Don't do it Hedrixmaster... ...oh, wait a minute!
  14. Most people say that the split link is wank but remember that the pins in the chain are mushroomed, so when you pop one out to rejoin the chain you change this and lose the strength it gives. I ran a split link for years with no problems, and have only changed now as I lost the link
  15. Something there doesn't quite add up! If a belt an go in an engine, it'll go on a trials bike. Get a chain and try and snap it Obviously there's going to be pros and cons, it's all about summing them up/doing what you can to make it work as best you can. If you find a way to make it work, and work well enough to be deemed better than, or at least as good as, the current chain drive setups, fair play to you! Would be a really interesting project to work on, I'd love to do something like that but my course at uni doesn't really allow for it there, and I don't have the means nor money to try it properly myself
  16. One BIG property of belt drive systems is the fact that there's a limiting maximum power/torque that you can apply. If a decent solution to this can be found, then maybe it could possibly be looked into in more depth Would be interesting if it could be applied in this sort of situation. Chain tension would be a peice of piss!
  17. Nice I like! How much spring do you get from it, Ali? If not I guess you can always whack a little spring in the mix for good measure
  18. Straight tubes and vee mounts on that vertical dropout one... Otherwise spot on now
  19. Yeah, that pic is a 'shop - but if you follow the link there are photos of the frame, just none built up yet. Slight change in geo and I'd consider having one myself
