  1. Yeah I've missed my five and this thread has made me want to go back.... Nah, it's high time I try a lapierre so am weighing up between a zesty and a custom build on a spicy frame.
  2. Here's the link to the Pinkbike article: http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1526120/ There's definitely some wiggle room in the price if you're keen. It's a completely top spec and currently at £1600 off RRP for 6 months use.
  3. Well if you change your mind..... remember nothing compliments a new house more than a nice bike to go in it (and ride away from it when it annoys you).
  4. I couldn't be without one now. I rode last summer for a few rides without one and it's like going back in time. When you've got a stealth one it feels like witchcraft. P.S. Do any of guys know anyone who's looking for a new MTB? I'm selling my Nukeproof at a huge saving off the RRP and looking at getting it gone! Sized Medium if you know anyone....
  5. With the greatest amount of respect (?) for someone who's 22 you sound a bit childish. Your texts read like a dodgy plot from an american teen sit-com. I've seen the messages and in reality you're both not saying 'anything'. I genuinely can't see what you're going on about. Be straight, be clear and if you like her that much don't be such a girl about it. f**k me if you're breaking up because you said you wouldn't go out a lot, then did then jesus, your problems are microscopic.
  6. Nope, just a dual piston design.
  7. Go for the SLX as it's the cheapest model to feature Servo-Wave and it's also awesome! I've got one arriving tomorrow. £47 at the moment: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-slx-m675-disc-brake/rp-prod83173
  8. Croatia is beautiful as although rapidly getting more expensive still isn't too bad compared to the rest of Europe. If you avoid places like Hvar and Dubrovnik then it'll probably be fairly cheap, just a little quainter but just as beautiful. The adriatic is so clean there and all the silt and shite gets pushed over to the east coast of Italy so there's some good swimming to be had. The people are generally great as well.
  9. I was going to use that analogy… my point is they have the market share for a reason.
  10. No ones disputing that, but it's not exactly a sound business model or any basis for continued future success. I mean plain and simply how many Inspireds do you see out and about? How many King of Dunce's or whatever they're called do you see?
  11. I used to run mine on the correct side and it does look better and if you rotate it the angle is fine but it's just so venerable that way. I don't know if you noticed on your mates Nukeproof that even with the reverb being mounted to the break lever with their matchmaker system it's still mounted upside down on the left (with a right lever). Pretty much everyone does it that way, but I think RS argue the articulation in terms of how you depress the button isn't quite as good. In practice it's great.
  12. Was there an allowance for the fact you might not have seen the cannelloni text or maybe had pre-existing plans and not been able to go? 2 things: 1. She put broccoli in cannelloni…that's not cool. If it'd been aubergine i'd have understood. 2. Is she certifiably guaranteed to know you'd be up to sweet-fa and go round? She already had all those people there which would have needed to be planned, and you apparently had no prior notice. She either wasn't bothered whether you'd come round or she knew you'd be round like a whippet. Kinda sad either way.
  13. It's not a case of that though, and everyone complaining about all new 24's being labelled as rip-off's of Inspireds are missing the point. Of course Inspired didn't invent the 24, and there have been steel alternatives (albeit in homemade form) from Leeson and Marino, but big trials companies didn't copy those did they? When your only option to get a steel street bike was to go to Peru and get something close-to-custom geo then companies such as Oznoys weren't in the least bit interested. Then Inspired decide to make a go of this whole 24" thing and seem to be doing fairly well at it then all of a sudden it's 24" time for everyone. My point is when it was seen as commercially viable (which has only come about due to Inspired being fastidious in their design and approach) then it was an area of interest for other companies. It all just seems a bit lazy and very clearly the same amount of attention and detail hasn't been put in so it does very much come across as a copy (in essence). There's also the fact that it looks absolutely shite. The gussets are abysmal and not in keeping with a street/BMX aesthetic, the seat tube thing has already been covered (I mean look at it!) and it;s once again just in poor taste. They always seem to just miss the point and end up making a something compromised that is just wide of the mark.
  14. Haha good man! Be mental not to. Go for the pro setup and run the right hand remote upside down on the left! It means you can put your bike upside down without it leaning and scratching (possibly breaking) the remote and it's a more comfortable action. Doh, should of read that before I replied, however spotted this..... when you do go single ring (it's worth it) grab a Blackspire Narrow-Wide chainring. I presume your bike has a clutch mech? If so, just whack on the chainring and you'll need no guide what so ever. I've been using one for a while now on some really rough trails and it's been absolutely perfect! http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/blackspire-mono-veloce-narrow-wide-chainring/rp-prod112084
  15. No it doesn't. Keeping a check on your diet is important along with exercise. Running 10-15 miles a week is bugger all and won't barely do but a scratch in keeping you fit. I ride 25 miles a day, every day, often more at the weekend, walk a lot and keep active all whilst always cooking fresh and keeping an eye on what I eat but there's still tonnes of room for improvement and whilst I'm pretty fit there's room for toning up and increasing strength etc.
  16. That one will probably weird her out more though. Fine here you go! You're so picky.
  17. I'd definitely consider a coil shock for your weight then, I think it'd be a good platform and give you more to push off. As you say running an air shock at its limit will be a bit compromised. The Van R is exceptionally basic so be warned... I've not looked in to price options but look in to the CCDB if it's not too much more. Yeah you're right. It won't feel as lively as the Five for sure. I like a bike to still have that flicky element even if it's at the expense of travel and ability to smash through stuff. I'd say you're bang on in comparing it to the Alpine. The non-stealth reverbs are a great price on CRC at the mo and bike-discount.de usually has good prices!
  18. Then quickly send her a stock photo of a generic girl really laughing, just for weirdness sake then block.
  19. P.S. If I were to be pedantic when she writes "I was breaking up with you", and "we were on a BREAK", well they are contradictory terms. One is very much, as the French say "finalment", whereas the latter suggests a temporary period of reflection with the possibility of resolution, i.e. it is open ended. Once again what she say and does seem at odds with one another. Possibly point that out to her.
  20. The sentiment doesn't seem to correlate with the text she sent your ma... tell her your life t'aint an episode of Friends and as they say in Scotland, "Get to f**k".
  21. About her? She was just trying to be nice? Why are you so angry? Why are you being horrible? Etc etc....
