Such a hard choice (inspired arcade news and info)

Reckon it'll be the same sort of time for components.... i.e. bars? -
The pic doesn't seem to be working but I can only assume it's a picture of dog shit. P.S. I think it might have been me who rode through the dog shit on your bike...... think I got most of it off though.

I'd say with the exception of a puncture a bent mech hanger is about the least inconvenient issues to have whilst out on the MTB. Atleast you can bend it back for the remainder of a ride. I don't have too many issues but on my first ride of my last bike half way up the assent my cranks fell off so had to find a stone to preload the bearings so they'd stay on. (This was whilst it was snowing). A few weeks ago on a borrowed bike I'd climbed to the top of the mountain, descended half way then climbed back to the top of the black route. Set off on the initial descent and my rear brake pads had somehow fallen out. Brakes leaking on rides and pulling to the bars is also shit. Recently my valve cores came out when I loosened the dust cap....not ideal on tubeless wheels. Having to re-inflate and seat a tubeless tyre on the top of a cold mountain with a hand pump is rubbish. My friends brake mount bolts fell out on the top of an enduro descent which made for a very dodgy back brakeless ride down. (luckily he's quite good/brave). My friends remote seat post leaked on a recent ride meaning you couldn't set a height so it'd go up and down and then move randomly throughout the ride. Writing off a wheel through a crash on the top of a descent as happened recently is also inconvenient. And last but not least I crashed recently and bent the hanger and snapped the gear cable meaning I was stuck in top gear with a wonky mech...... in everyone of these fairly recent incidents a bent mech hanger would have been preferable.

I know there's connotations of old Marzocchis with black stanchions but these Pikes are so good it's not an issue. I personally, when going for an all black theme was really pleased when they released them with black stanchions as it complimented the look and looks better than Rockshox's typical colour. Also I'm not that enamoured with Fox's Kashima coating, it's a bit of a swizz and the last two years 34 generation forks have been absolutely awful. I've ridden a few and they're just terrible and considering they cost £500 more than the Pike's I'm happy to stay well away from Fox for the foreseeable future.
-
Rockshox Pike's though eh.....no one hates the new Pike.
-
Yeah it definitely finished it off. Orange did an amazing job on it as well so it still looks 'factory' so to speak. Have you got any pics of your Skye in it's current colour? The little flash of it from the vid with Joel looked awesome.

Called from me ol' mobile telecommunications thing-a-majig. Glad it's sorted. I imagine it'll be with you in no time. Mine came next day. There's quite a weight penalty to using it though, that sucka t'aint light.
-
Yeah just say you want it as an upgrade and you want to purchase one. If they think it's warranty (which they did with me) they would have happily supplied it in replacement for the alloy one but I asked to just purchase it. I spoke to a guy in person who said they'd made a bunch for Danny (and I think the new Skye) and they had a few left over.
-
Why? It's not an Inspired part. I can't remember if Hope won't deal with customers directly? I know there was some confusion when I got my steel one as they thought it was a warranty and I had to explain my first snapped one was replaced with an alloy one and that I just wanted to order a steel one instead. They're not under that impression with you are they?
-
That certainly helped in my decision. Coincidentally it did turn out to be the best option also (cheers for that). Yeah, you're right Sam's red Skye is much nicer than both of ours We'll have to have a spin when it's up and running. Might as well sort yourself out the steel axle in the downtime, can get on worry-free with mine now.

Im'ma wait for them new lovely bars to become available and i'll probably get the pair. As soon as I pieced the bike back together the once loved paisley seat did look a little out of place. I toyed with the graphic with a white stroke (with transparent centre) as per the new Skye and with a black stroked graphic (murder Inc) but that was a bit too subtle. Also the white stroke on the new Skye is nice as you can see the frame colour through, but in black it makes less sense so thought the white internal graphic was the most minimal and best looking approach for my bike.
-
Looked real dull without the Inspired graphics. Tempted by the new saddle as it's more subtle. I'd loose the logos off the rim in a heartbeat but I can't fault the wheels and there's not much out there in the way of 24" rims that I'd happily run. Also the same with tyre choice....and marker penned tyres looks balls.

Cheers, but it's more of a case of being impressed with a UK bike manufacturers excellent powder coating as opposed to my efforts

After always wanting to repaint my bike it was finally time to stop messing about and get it done. Murdered out.

Yeah but that's entirely the point of it. It's not going up against the original video... RedBull would have commissioned it in association with Danny's earlier GoPro edit (that didn't feature the animation). The original video was an advert, in essence, this is just a different take. Condensed with an added element, point of interest for a different viewer potentially. I don't look at this edit in terms of riding content or even as a rider, it's a commercial piece of work (as is the original to a different extent). I can appreciate people disliking it stylistically but not purely just because it's an ad...doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
-
I assumed it was these people based on the screengrab...but it turns out the guys who did the animation are the sister company to the illustration company that produced the Danny signature Red Bull can. They sure know what they're doing...

It's only a very recent thing. I used to hate it going from one to the other (MTB-trials bike). It's only in the last couple of months that it doesn't really cause any issues. It could also be down to the fact I'm on a bike nearly (if not) everyday so it's just bike handling skills in general sharpening up (possibly). I went on my Skye on Sunday after a couple months off it and thought it'd be awful but it was normal right off the bat. I know discussing head angle is a much mocked subject but it's funny seeing both sides with street trials riders wanting to go steeper and steeper and mtbers wanting to go slacker and slacker I think that's why I'm not on the extreme either way. I'm against MTBs continually getting slacker (whilst appreciating why people want it) due to riding trials and enjoying a steeper head angle but wonder when an extreme/trade off is met in the reverse (in terms of trials bikes). I'm surprised no one has experiment with anglesets in trials... -

Bloody 'ell that is steep. I'd be really interested to try it. I think switching between a MTB, road bike and trials bike the trials bike is naturally the steepest so it always feels really nimble when I'm on it. I'd certainly be interested in less rake on my forks, but also for aesthetic reasons as they look a little far out. It's true what you say though that you do adapt to a bike and then get used to its geo. I actually find the more bikes I ride the easiest the transition becomes. -
Direct from hope is the way to go. I'd give them a ring Monday and explain the situation. It's also going to be the cheapest method (new) and they're great to deal with. I told them I'd snapped the alloy axle in my pro2 trials and they sent me a steel one the next day.

Well I was surprised how different your bike felt to mine so I suppose it doesn't take a lot to have a big effect. Nothing wrong with a bit of variety. -

Horses for courses thought.....I personally like the low BB and 73 isn't exactly slack so no issues there. Having said that I'd be intrigued to try the shorter stays but a steeper head angle wouldn't be my first priority as sometimes the steepness catches me out as it is. The arcade looks very fun but it looks mental steep and it'd be interesting to see how figity it is. I think a balance is needed. -

Parcel force will do it. They ship bikes all over the world every day. Granted this is for business use but just call them and explain the situation and ask them if they say no why they can do it for businesses? Alternatively try and find a friend who has a parcel force business account and get them to do it.

The Steel jacket is nice, could be tempted by one of those.
