  1. The afore mentioned shadow conspiracy saddle is fine for barspins, it's what I have on my Leeson and cost £20ish I think. As for a post just pick up a cheapy off ebay, I got a pretty light Kore one from Woolyhat shop brand new for a tenner, by the time you've cut the excess 300mm off (no joking they are stupidly long) it'll be plenty light enough.
  2. Outer diameter is 30mm with 2mm thick walls. It is 22mm wide except for a 4mm slot cut out the inner side of the back of the dropout to allow the wheel to be removed. Not sure what you mean by length but that's all the measurements I could see you needing. HTH
  3. The EK9 actually had almost 190bhp from a stupidly tuned 1.6, the EK4 like the one I own is the 160bhp 1.6, both weighing in at just over a tonne. And the looks imo cannot be beaten. Yes they have more horsepower but also weigh close to 1400kg!!! That means that my EK4 can easily keep up to about 70mph then the extra torque and lower gearing let the EP3 disappear. The new ones do handle well but the electric steering takes away all of the feel and you don't feel part of the car when you drive it, which imo defeats the point of a hot hatch. On a back road blast there's very little between my car and a new Type R but one of the old ones would annihilate both. Oh, and as for my favourite buyable car, either a TVR T350 or Chimaera - i've promised myself one for before i'm 30 or
  4. The caliper I got second hand (I think one of George's via Ben Geary) had been bodged with a bent screw! However I removed that and not being able to find anything else got it rivetted together (but so it still moves freely) with an aircraft rivet - should be plenty strong for the job . It's been like that for several months now and has given me no problems.

    Proto V2

Ghastly looking thing in my opinion. As to the difference, the Magura mounts are no longer internal, what do I win, what do I win???
  6. It's not that i don't want to come but I had plans, but they have been cancelled so I can now come out . I have no idea where the Maccy D's is but I will park on the seafront (unless you can recommend anywhere as easy to find and as cheap) so directions from there or meeting somewhere more obvious would be great.
  7. However tempting you've made it sound i'm gonna have to give it a miss. Maybe next time.
  8. NAY for me now. Either doing a family thing or riding Yarmouth instead .
  9. choices choices. Hunstanton or Yarmouth ??? What's the riding like in Yarmouth, i've been there a few times but not for riding, I seem to remember seeing some lines but that was a couple of years ago. The rock shop is a very nice attraction and about all I can remember, come to think of it may become the clincher :$ .
  10. My past experience of shimano hubs is the more expensive you go the worse they become for trials (XTR not necessarily included since i've never owned one). I would say avoid the XT, it's made to be lighter and they are weaker than LX. The best freehub body of all the shimano hubs i've had is the Acera X one that came on my first bike used for trials and believe it or not the whole hub is still fine eight years on!!! You'd be lucky to find one of those though, they stopped making them years a go.
  11. Basically no, though Pedal Revolutions deal with Saracen and used to sell the MAD stocks so i'm sure they could source a mod, other than that there's nowhere. I've been mail ordering trials parts since I started in '98 and though the scene has grown none of the local shops have ever branched into trials, bit of a bugger really but that's what you get for being stuck in Norfolk - Britain's slowest advancing county Daniel
  12. next weekends good with me, gives me chance to get my car sorted and my mates should be able to come then too.
  13. I should be able to make it, possibly with a couple of mates too.
  14. those are pretty good but I can see why you're not so impressed. That pic of me where I almost hit you - can't believe how scared I look . Are they the only decent ones?
  15. Given that last post and the fact the sun has come out here and the weather will be coming from my direction throughout the day i'm gonna risk it - should be at the park by around 11:30 if I dont get lost this time!!!
  16. I can't say i particularly want to drive so far if its peeing down, the ridings not worth it especially if its raining. If someone could post what the weather's doing and looks like it might do for the rest of the day by half nine tomorrow morning I would be very grateful, that way I can make my decision whether or not come as late as possible. Cheers, Daniel
  17. I'll try and make this one, i'm in desperate need of some different riding especially since getting my new bike. Hopefully i'll manage to avoid breaking it in the first hour like I did last time
  18. Just a friendly piece of advise - if you want to attract more people to a ride with you, try and set out more clearly exactly where and when (to the day) you will be there and write the post as grammatically sound as possible so you come across as the sensible guy i'm sure you are rather than just some random kid (you'll get validated sooner too). I know you've said you'll be there all week but if I turned up one day and you weren't riding it'd be a wasted journey and a crap riding session on my own. Also 'Sunny Hunny' is a bit vague to non East Anglians, to be honest it didn't even occur to me where you meant until I checked the vid. Anyway, I may be able to make the weekend (5th/6th) dependant on coursework and exams etc. If I can, i'll set a date and post in the rides section - hopefully that may attract a few more people. Sorry if I sound a bit up myself, I don't mean to - just trying to help you organise a decent ride. Daniel
  19. Got one of those zen sleeks trialsinchris linked to a week ago now and am well impressed. I had a couple of issues getting it to work but it turned out the usb ports on the front of my pc can't stream data as fast as those at the back which was causing the player to crash (so it's a pc problem really). The software's a doddle to use and comes with a file converter to change from mp3 to wma (and other types that I can't remember), which i've been after a legit one of for ages. Transfer speed is immensely fast, I already have over 1600 tracks on mine and haven't spent more than a couple of hours ripping from the hard-drive and cd's. The sound quality is awesome, as should be expected from Creative (makers of the Soundblaster PC sound card afterall) though the ear buds are a little large but that's easily changeable. The screen is clear and displays good colours and also allows you to zoom in to any photos stored on the player. Keypad is a bit sensitive on medium setting but has three adjustments to suit however heavy your fingers may be. Think that's just about everything. Overall i'm chuffed to bits with it, especially for £110. There's nothing to match it for its current price. Hope that helps Daniel
  20. Just so you know, I phoned Fred earlier this evening and he said the only Megamos he has left have really wide rear dropouts, so much so you need to get a tandem hub!!! Damn Megamo playing with silly ideas - no wonder he hasn't sold them all. As for other alternatives I have no idea, i'm in the same boat as you trying to find something to replace my Brisa and am seriously considering going 24" instead. It seems crazy to me that no-one is making 26" trials bikes with seats and sensible geometry - even Ashton had a rant about the same thing in this months MBUK stating the true art of trials is the ability to do the seemingly impossible on a near standard bit of kit (quite how he then justifies his design I have no idea, I guess it's close enough to sensible for his liking and has many rave reports). Daniel
  21. As colly said check the fan. What mileage has it done? The radiator fan went on my punto at the 40k mark and did the same on one of my mates at similar mileage - apparently it's a problem for the late 90's models. The garage I took it to only replaced plugs and leads to start with but then found the fault when the temp got so bad the head gasket blew. Luckily for me it was all under warrenty but would have cost about £400 otherwise. Best to get it sorted asap especially if the engines gone rattley - that's not generally a good sign. Daniel
  22. Nathan, Adrian and me (and possibly some of my mates) are meeting at 11am at the station so who else is still up for it? Weathers supposed to be ace so it should be a good one. Daniel
  23. I'd rather not make the trip to Lowestoft, after a days riding a 50 mile drive on shite roads is just too much effort. I would have been able to get the bus but First have stopped the 'line' at Yarmouth and I can't be arsed with messing about getting to and from Lowestoft from there. Do a Norwich ride and I can pretty much guarantee i'll be there but it'd have to be something special to get me to go to Lowestoft.

    My Gu 26"

It's a bit different to your old Giant!! Can't say i'm a fan of that styling though you may remember me saying I prefer the streety kind of bikes over these new pure trials frames. I'm guessing you like it and that's what's important. You'll have to let me have a go on the Norwich ride so I can see how it compares to the old school bikes i've become so attached to and afraid to move away from.
