Q: What's cool about BMX? A: Nailing lines Q: What's cool about trials? A: For most people unfortunately, getting that extra inch. So, you base a BMX game around tricks and lines. And you base a trials game around getting that extra inch. How does anyone intend do to that and make it fun for whoever is going to play the game? Danny Macaskill: The Video Game would in principal be like Dave Mirra.

Yes, I believe that's quite common.

No. If I watched trials vids for a year, I'm pretty sure my riding wouldn't improve. Actually, it'd probably suffer from no practice. You only improve when you ride. Trials vids can help you understand certain techniques but it's practice that will make you ride better.

Massive no, especially if it's only 100 quid cheaper. You can get an Inspired or Czar which you know is going to last, or save a bit on getting something that's come out of nowhere. Seems a bit risky? The Czar does come with a disc mount, Tarty might not have updated pictures or new stock yet. Adamant also come in 4b+disc.

You've got my full support.

If it comes in black that's going to be my next frame. My old slate was such a nice frame to ride.

Pretty much. TRA because he's a legend and despite riding for so long he still blows everybody away with every vid. CLS because if it wasn't for him, street trials would have been very different now. And Danny - well that's obvious. But if I was to choose which riders have been most important to my riding, they'd be: Lee Shi Ming - 26 TRA - 26/20 Yao Zhi - 20

You've made your point. I'm up for this trip providing the car will be ready. Will be changing the engine some time in the spring, hope it doesn't collide with this outing.

Rise is a bit silly. Wasn't there a 24" Yabba in development which looked a bit like a Hydroxx?
-
Right, so in short fast driving just isn't encouraged.

Let me get this straight, I'm getting lost. For instance, is this video shot on a normal "free for all" day that we'd be going to, or is such driving forbidden? Youtube Video -> ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">

That's cool, it looks like a Corvette engine with a human face between the cylinder banks. Get some balls people, trials injuries are rarely nasty (apart from the one above admittedly). edit: actually...

As above, I already have the 7 series and driving it around would probably end up with me regreting I didn't take the M3. Another thing is that I'd never risk driving there and racing around the track in the same car. I guess one can always call the authorities and ask them how they stand with the current modifications done to the M.
-
Well that counts me out then. My car is registered but it's not road legal. It would fail an MOT instantly on every single point possible. And knowing Germany, a valid MOT is not going to be enough when the car obviously cannot pass one. As for the diff mine is locked which is no good for track racing. It's just one of those things that will get you into trouble in a fast corner.

I'll give you 50 quid for it?
-
Cheers. I'm looking for a multi-purpose bike which I can do a bit of street, trials and normal riding around on. Something you can take to a bike ride with your mates but also have fun on. This or even better the Czar seems to be the only sensible option at the moment.

Does that Echo feel like a street bike, is it easy to bunnyhop and spin around? Is it also fairly comfortable when you put the seat up and ride it normally?
-
They're VERY good freewheels indeed. Heard only positives from customers, never had even one complaint. It's quite possibly the best freewheel out there at the moment.

50/50. Depends on the cash situation. Just spoke to my dad, he'd love to go (used to be a rally driver back in the UK) so I guess if we split the costs between each other the chances of me going would be much greater. I haven't really got a car for the job, would need to get a normal LSD for the M3, change the weight distribution, reconfigure the suspension and buy some slicks. That's a lot of work. Are you guys sure that 8 laps in a weekend is enough? That's like 160km, I do that distance on an average drift day where the tracks are no longer than 1-1,5km and you spend most of your time in the pits changing wheels.
-
I guess you're right. But don't you think that to have that attitude you need a car you can enjoy driving slowly? That's why I miss my S2000, the driving experience dominated everything even when you weren't booting it. Maybe it's also a matter of how much time you spend on a track. I went to an open event a few months ago at our local track and saw most guys getting a buzz out of driving around as if it was a normal unrestricted road - they weren't booting it on the straights, didn't try going around corners quickly. That's a similar attitude to mine when I went there for the first time but now without timed laps or doing the whole thing sideways, it's just as boring as commuting. I'm guessing the Ring would be similar and lead to an accident. But I can imagine it's mostly about the atmosphere. Now that I've got my B+E license I can happily drive there if you guys decide to make a small TF Ring meet. Probably need around 1000 pounds for an outing like that?

Shit. This seemed like a really nice idea until I read that very long post about all the limitations, killing people etc. A few of my mates used to go to comps on the Ring, all of them said it was a f**king scary track, most came back with damaged cars. Personally I don't trust myself enough to go out and drive on the Ring. Especially as you probably can't concentrate on driving, instead you have to keep looking in your rear view mirror and letting people go. Sounds like a great experience though and sooner or later I'll have to go.

What other 24" frame offers a disc mount and horizontal dropouts? If I was going 24", that's the first and only frame I'd buy.
