  1. [attachmentid=9115] Might have got a bit carried away this time. But this is just an example of supreme variable geometry, once you get on it everything will bend and adapt to the rider - just like in comp bikes.
  2. Did you just break your leg or am I missing something?
  3. Got to agree with Damon on this. The longer the chainstays, the heavier the gear ratio will feel. Think of the chainstays as a lever which extends from you hub axle to the bb. When you pedalkick, your bike levers you upwards. The longer the stays, the smaller the leverage will be thus making it harder. Thats why your gear ratio feels different. I happily rode a 18:18 gear ratio on 372 stays and it was a nightmare to gap. Add a 55mm bb rise to that and you've got the worst possible setup imaginable - no power at all. I actually think the chainstay lengh helps more in gaps than a heavier gear ratio. In my opinion: -The higher the bb, the easier it will feel -The closer the bars to the bb, the heavier it will feel -The longer the chainstays, the heavier it will feel.
  4. Talking of drops: I think they had to dig him out when he landed, but he didn't injure himself.
  5. If you can do with an 18T freewheel, get the cheapest one which doesn't require maintenance. This would either be a welded ACS or a Monty if you want something a bit better. Acutally, if you're a complete novice, more engagement points will make things easier for you.
  6. Wow Talking about being creative...
  7. I've recently found that this sport is no longer something that gives me a sense of achievement. It's ok in the way that I go out riding and enjoy myself but that's probably like having a smoke. I mean for those who have been into this sport for many years, it's just like an addiction. A few years ago trials was something special, progress was slow and therefore the sense of achievement when one nailed something just right was greater. I'm not talking about a huge drop-gap but say a simple pedalup onto 2ft. Now, after tapping +4ft I feel like I've done my job and can go home. There isn't a single move I can think of doing that would give me the satisfaction a small sidehop would years ago. I guess this means the whole joy of riding is no longer there. This leads me to the conclusion that some are more pleased by learning new moves rather than going bigger. But what can one do when all moves have been learned? Ditch trials and start riding street/bmx? One has to have quite a mind to develop one's own style like Leech has, and immense skills to follow it. I'm just sick and tired of going out riding and trying to tap the same wall and do the same gap, or trying to tap a larger wall and do a bigger gap. Guess the problem would disappear if I had some rocks around but I don't. I'm pretty sure some people on this forum have had a similar problem. What did you do? Carry on riding and "vegetate", or did you ditch trials and try a different sport?
  8. I can't see it improving gaps if you've learned to engage the freewheel first and then pedalkick. It will certainly make short run up moves easier and more precise. Some people say the Try-All is not as good as it sounds (one has already been destroyed my end, in a matter of weeks). Loads of Hungarian riders have f**ked theirs. Go for the ENO if you have the money.
  9. Don't mean to sound like a cock but the rules are fairly simple, if you went by them you wouldn't have had your account banned. As a matter of fact, if you'd just ignored Spacemunkee you'd probably have given him something to think about. If you attack him in return, you just prove his point.
  10. You look dangerous Mr Seamons. Thank god a certain question I had about sigs got sent off to another mod Only one I've got.
  11. Tried playing that video in VLC, VDub and Premiere, none can cope with it.
  12. I love Shoey because he's a very friendly Mantalope

    My A1

Got my new rims 2 hours ago Well worth the 2 month wait Spec is: A1 Short with Ashton forks Echo 135x15 stem/ZOO bars Hope trials/HS33 brakes Tensile UCI Urban Legend King SS/Hope XC 18:17 gear ratio with custom chain tensioner KHE Collapse chain etc. Got a bit bored throughout the last few days and decided to experiment with some frames. Added 2 new pics, 1st is a 1100 Koxx, 2nd a Pure S with 96 Z2 fork.
  14. Pads: Monty Long Rim: Zhi 26" 48mm Grind: Worn harsh grind = fairly smooth Brake: 04 HS33 on A1 with CNC mounts - very stiff setup Time Used: 3 days Best pads used so far: Coustsinks Opinion of a perfect brake: Varied. Loud and aggressive or fairly strong and quiet. Review: With respect to all the Monty components, I just can't believe they could produce such poor pads. They are weak, develop a high pitch squeak if pushed to the limits of their grip; other than that, they're dead silent. I guess this pad is fine for chilled riding and for pro comp riders who from my experience don't really need a strong brake. These pads have good modulation but no bite at all. I can happily reccomend these to riders who are more into street moves and require a silent brake with more power than normal black pads. Other than that - I think they're useless.
  15. That pretty much sums this topic up for me. I don't think TRA takes part in competitions either, nor does Marco G.? Now that's quite something, a rider sponsored by Koxx that doesn't do comps

    Staples

I thought that Onza was his brothers? He keeps changing bikes so I wouldn't call him a 20" rider
  17. Yep, about 2 days on my Pure, they were Z2 Bombers from 96 (60mm travel). The setup was a bit odd, good for "old school" moves such as bunnyhops and sidehops from two wheels. Wheelswaps were also quite nice to do, the forks kept the flow of the movement rather well. Touch hops were ok, gaps were much harder. I'd go for it, it's a new and quite interesting experience.
  18. crap, sorry for the confusion dude - i thought it was for a python. seem to be getting these frames mixed up lately :$ forget what i wrote i'd get a 127.5 one
  19. That's just a normal rotor, why should it not work with your brake?
  20. As always a great video from you lot. The rocks looked nice as well, I'd love to ride them edit: what rear pads is the Coust guy using?
  21. You also need to add the file to the site's content else the it will be deleted Get on with it
  22. Not much, deng parts are really cheap this end and I also get a special discount because I'm a good friend The only expensive parts are the ones i can't get over here which would be Tensile cranks, Hope Trials brake and a King hub.
