  1. I rode them temporarily while waiting for some 4bolt SL forks (my choice for the last 3 years due to weight). Sold the Bonz forks on, don't know what's going on with them now but I really doubt they'll have packed up. If for some reason you don't want Trialtechs then getting a pair of Bonz forks should be a no-brainer.
  2. I don't believe in Koxx warranty so even if these forks have one, invalidating it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that if they point out the stack height is relevant, it must have an impact on durability. So if what Mark says is correct then they're probably worth buying. I'd be chuffed if they were twice as durable as the SL's. I'm a smooth and light rider, don't go bit either.
  3. They don't have the same caliper. The Hope is a Hope and the Echo is a erm.. Echo.
  4. The inner diameter is the same. Whether they will fit the caliper is a completely different matter. Tarty should know.
  5. They're comparable to Trialtechs, very stiff and also very strong, at the same time slightly lighter.
  6. It's worth finding out if a Hope seal will fit. The slave is exactly the right size.
  7. That doesn't make sense. Presumably the insert is installed from the bottom, not the top. If so, they should be quoting a maximum length, not minimum.
  8. I go through 1 set of Echo SL 4bolt forks every 6 months, thinking about getting something different this year. The only downside of the SL I've found is the complete lack of stiffness which is very visible on natural. The Karbons have been around for some time now, so shouldn't be difficult to get an opinion on them. What are they like strength wise? Any problems? At a guess the stiffness should be on par with Trialtechs or other high end forks? And finally, I remember someone talking about a tube+headset length of at least 135mm or so. How crucial is this to the strength of the steerer tube? My current bike is 127mm so not far off. Don't think I'll be changing to a different frame this year so it needs to be accounted for.
  9. Exactly what I thought. It just comes to show that even at the hands of such a pro rider, a kids bike is still just a kids bike.
  10. Is there any reason why you don't have cranks? Surely for a bike rider the more natural position is to have one foot ahead of the other?
  11. Is taking head shots of random people and then identifying them a of hobby of yours? It's a mighty strange one to say the least but hey, we all ride bikes without saddles on here so...
  12. Probably positioning the lever and slaves incorrectly. Slave positioning: Master positioning:
  13. Haven't been feeling too well for the last week so I'm staying at home. Would have gone to a house party but all my mates are going to clubs or firework displays whereas I really need a place to lie down if I'm not ok.
  14. I love the "welded behind enemy lines in a U-Boat" look of this frame.
  15. No need, just undo the tpa and don't use it. I had the same problem with the 2011 SL brake, kept screwing it in but at the end of the day it was in the same position as before the ride.
  16. What about the KMC K910? That's a 1/8" chain too.
  17. The TPA has a tendency to screw out. You'd best undo it completely and then set the brake up so the TPA needn't be used.
  18. Do it. Before you know, your grandson will be telling his beginner friends "my grandad sidehopped this wall last week, I'm sure you can do it too". And that's probably never been said before.
  19. I did get it. But the other spoilt brat award contenders need not know the truth.
  20. You did well. At least the Spoilt Brat award will finally go to someone we all like and respect on here.
  21. Look at the shape of the letters... that's what makes a font and they're nothing alike.
  22. I like the idea of the lower bb, not a massive fan of high bb. Price is fairly good too for what seems to be a high quality package. Wish the frame was a darker colour like the frame though.
  23. Probably not that many people, but what's wrong with that? I'm not a christmas person either, bought my parents some presents which turned out to be useful but I really don't like getting presents myself. Christmas used to be all about having a lot of people over with my cousins' kids getting excited about presents, me and my cousins getting drunk and our parents generally enjoying themselves. That was a few years ago, now that my aunt and uncle are dead, my cousins no longer come over. So christmas eve is becoming fairly depressing.
